- Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Lords of the West introduces the Sicilians (which cover Naples) and the Burgundians (covering at least Burgundy, Flanders, Friesland, Guelders and Liege) as new civilizations. The Burgundians’ two unique units are the Coustillier, which is the strongest generic Stable unit in Hegemony, and the Flemish Militia, which is armed with the same weapon as the Scaerwetter. Similar to the current Burgundian Wonder (Brussels Town Hall), the Monument used is the Leuven Town Hall. The Barons’ War is also portrayed in the first scenario of the Edward Longshanks campaign.
- Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Dawn of the Dukes introduces the Poles and Bohemians. In both games, the Bohemians have a unique War Wagon (Hussite Wagon) and a unique Bombard Cannon (Houfnice). The Bohemian Castle and the mod’s Monument are both based on Karlštejn Castle. The Wavel Cathedral is the basis of the Polish Wonder in both the mod and Dawn of the Dukes. Additionally, the Crusader Knight is virtually identical looking to the Teutonic Order’s Ritterbruder in Hegemony. The Battle of Viktor Hill is also portrayed in the fourth scenario of the Jan Zizka campaign.
Right… Do you know what assets are?
Are not the unique units and wonders of the Burgundians, the Poles and the Bohemians?..
No, assets are (in the case of AoE2) graphics, terrain textures, sounds and music. LotW and DotD didn’t take any of those from Age of Chivalry. It did add assets representing some of the same things, as you’ve mentioned – but they don’t use assets from the mod, which obviously wouldn’t fit the DE style.
I wish they would add a proper ranked for ROR so it wasn’t a waste of a DLC.
Also another 3 civs would be nice before the end of the year
Ah ok ok…well, what I put is what they passed from the mod to the DE…
I doubt they’ll put another dlc until next May, it would be good, but I doubt it…now they’re fully focused on AoM Retold and the AoE 4 port on Xbox…
It’s not the same team working on all games at once.
Yes, I know they are two separate teams, but I guess after Return of Rome the devs will focus on balancing the dlc plus porting the original 1 DE campaigns (Egypt, Greece, Babylon and Carthage) to launch in October…
meh that’s the issue with everyone, you add add some African states - why haven’t you added this one? if you add any Asian state - what about that one?
It’s not limited just to Balkans, and in fact for what i’ve seen here on the forums the Balkans mostly supported addition of each other’s states, i was surprised with that as much as anyone ![]()
Is there any news about the next dlc?
None. It is supposed to come this year if you go by the “roadmap”, but considering that they already made delayed deliveries of other stuff on the roadmap, I wouldn’t count on it coming out before January.
I’m bumping this topic just for this. Also, you were right with Tamar
There weren’t many more options for a Georgian campaign either. Tamar took Georgia to its maximum extent and it also appears in CIV6… it was logical that they put it in AoE 2 DE… I’m also happy to have stuck with the historical battles but I thought they would be new and not the ones from the workshop…
