What I hope for is
Baja California and Ottomans Nerf
Italian and Maltese Buff/Rework
Ethiopians small buff
Exploration Age more focused on Exploration with a rework of Map Revealing cards plus no TPs, Native Settlements shown on the beginning.
Bugfixes, visuals and glitches addresses, African maps overhaul (there are some legibility issues with these)
Some UI/UX rework, specially the social/friend list, MP and Ranked pages
Sound fixes, like the volume of AI Personalities, Inca units and so
Interestingly, AoE IV last update was seven days ago
Age of Mythology Retold, minutes ago
And AoE II DE, 9 hours ago
Im dont believe a new DLC (100% new or returning to Baltic ideas) would come that “fast”. I think they would first restart patching to see how the fanbase reacts, if it will get “traction” or not before commiting to something larger as a DLC.
Wiould be funny if its Brazil DLC due to they are releasing a South America DLC for AOE2 and hosting a tournament here in early july.
I think they are working on a Skin Pack with elements already ingame. Simple, almost no work, and a way to test the waters. Maybe a bugfix for Crossbows and Akan Ankobia. I think there is a bug in Aztec’s Maya shipments.
But I really hope they give oficially 4 ROF to Papal Bombard. I made a mod with it and I really loved the new behaviour, so I kept it. And now I don’t want to play without it. And British Longbows should coexist with Rangers just because. I mean, Rangers should be an addition, not a full replacement.
Thats pretty interesting, however the Card and Units were designed on a modern approach for Industrial and Imperial British, reflecting the Age advancements and the army modernization. The thing is all European Civs should have an option like this. I think is fair enough.
Is it possible they are migrating AoE3 into AoMR? That’d be a kinda disappointing situation imo, but it wouldn’t be impossible it could have some positives.
But Rangers predate the industrial revolution so they don’t actually reflect those advancements.
The game has always gone the route of additive advancement, not replacement. So a random assortment of DE techs that go contrary to that stick out like a sore thumb.
AoE 4’s update is a collective one made by Valve, unlike the ones for AoE 2 and AoM.
AOE4 really different. It often updates without any steamdb thing.
I’d like to see them alongside - it should be a user choice. Those that want to ‘replace’ the unit line for a modern unit can - they can just not train longbows anymore, and vice-versa (though I’d want Longbowmen to upgrade their skins to Tudor and then 1600’s style to help move with the times). Personally, I love the rise from Renaissance wafare to 19th century tactics and units, though I think there should always be a choice.
Heck, we have Dutch Merchants with late 1500’s/early 1600’s ruffs on their necks, alongside Spanish Lancers and pan-European Caravel which were ‘done’ by the 1600s as just the tip of the iceberg.
It’s a bit of a hodge-podge - some units clearly modernise with their upgrade skins (Musketeers), some units stay pretty much within in their ‘launch’ era’s uniform with the odd adornments (Lancers), some don’t change at all (Caravel, Petard, etc) and then we have the complete unit replacements (Landwher/Rangers) which change an existing unit line/type to something different.
Whilst it’s feasible, I don’t think this will happen unless it’s a free Skin Pack.
Whilst World’s Edge kinda lack tact (as per DLC announcement/canning), I think they’ve hopefully read the room that after long radio silence, to drop a paid-for cosmetic pack would probably be the sleaziest thing they could do and would probably irritate an already sore community!
If there’s any output for AOE3, it would almost certainly be a small patch/update.
If there’s any paid-for content, it would be after an update.
Doesn’t make sense to work on a product which requires time and resource and drop it on a community you’ve clearly ******-off - you would want to get the community back on your side with an update first. Obviously any DLC content ain’t going to come out without a patch/update beforehand to lay the foundation down anyway.
Again, if there’s small update being worked on in the background, I’d really not think too much on DLC plans. We need a sign of life on the support side before anything, if anything.
3 days past and no more things happen again.
Yeah because the dev’s focus for now is getting the Myth Xpack out asap.
Thats pretty interesting
It is a user choice thats why is a card and not a tech in situ on Barracks
Yes, exactly, the saga shouldn’t be cannibalizing itself just because they don’t have enough developers for all the games. They’re not indie games; they belong to one of the biggest and richest companies on the planet, like Microsoft… and if it were up to them, they’d only focus on Age of Empires 2, Age of Empires 4 only just because it’s the newest game (if it had been a flop in 2021, forget about them giving it DLC in 2022, 2023, and beyond), and the rest would be forgotten…
Yes, Poland would be a cavalry and infantry civilization, either fast or weak, similar to Germany or Russia (the Polish obuch from AoE 2 continued to exist until the 18th century, so it could easily be in AoE 3 as a Polish halberdier)… and Denmark a naval and infantry civilization (as a nod to the Vikings from AoE 2 and 4)…
Polish Obuch in AoE 2
Danes in Wars of Liberty
Ageing-up gives the Danes and their teammates a Golden Age which provides a temporary bonus to gather rates and kill experience bounties. A Minor Golden Age is triggered after receiving a shipment
Start the game with an Experience crate.
Age up 50% faster
The Dock has been changed with the Anchorage, which has special traits
National Guard units: Grenadier (Livgarde) and Dragoon (Jutlander)
Ox Cart: Wagon that improves nearby Villager gathering rates and can turn into economic buildings.
Landsoldat: Unique heavy ranged infantry that can be cheaply and quickly trained.
Gunboat: Light warship carrying a cannon. Replaces the Aviso, but can not gather from fish.
Espingol: A fast-firing organ gun with short range. Better against infantry than buildings. Replaces the Steel Gun at the Factory.
Ingenior: Ultimate heavy infantry whose ranged attack deals siege damage and does bonus damage against artillery. Can repair artillery.
Denmark’s ultimate units include the Espingol, a low range but fast artillery unit, and the Ingenior, an ultimate musketeer skilled at destroying and repairing artillery.
Yes, maybe later, but it would be nice…
Yes, exactly… a European DLC isn’t that difficult to make if all European civilizations end up reusing a lot of cards, especially the economic ones…
Yes, and Greece because of the Greek revolution…
Yes, it would be great if they released a Tupi and Mapuche DLC for 3DE after doing it for 2DE… and obviously a Brazil-Argentina DLC as a nod to Wotta Mod and the Cisplatine War between 1825 and 1828…
Yes, but it makes sense. The Longbowman is a nod to Age of Empires II, but it fell out of use at the start of the English Civil War (1642-1651). The British didn’t use their own light infantry unit until the creation of Roger’s Rangers in the Seven Years’ War (1756-1763). I’m not complaining about the Rangers replacing the Longbowman (since that only happens if you send the Church Card), but it’s also historically accurate, since you don’t see Longbowmen during the Industrial Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars…
I see it as very unlikely; it’s a lot of work and besides, it wouldn’t make sense if Retold has fewer players than Age of Empires 3…
Please don’t copy WoL Denmark.
Friend, infact we already have the Greek revolution mod made by opdepov.
100% This.
This whole copypasting is just not realizing that civs like WoL’s Denmark aren’t even close to any of what their design was suppoused to be from the deleted twitch stream + too much late 19th century stuff (the thing that made WoL shine between other mods) focus where they have enough material throughout the timeline which is not only from WoL.
WoL is good on its own but not every single concept from it can fit official AoE3DE.
