Only 3 short 3h time slots but at least there is preloading.
oh really only 3 h time slots? didn’t read if fully thats a bit sad.
still surprised they accept ppl who don’t bought retold (not even the standard) but maybe its a marketing strategy + they want to gather as many players as possible which ofc makes sense for a stress test.
Yep it’s mostly for testing their servers. They don’t use the retail servers the other games run on from what I’ve read.
The window they picked (14:30 - 17:30 UTC) also looks to be the busiest ones among the Age games:
Yes, the Celts in AoM might be interesting centered around a forest civ similar to the Celts in AoE 2 and the Hauds in AoE 3…In AoEO they have as unique units the Woad Rider, the Longbowman, the Long Swordman, the Champion, the Druid (which is obviously the standard monk that heals units) and the Augur that boosts units, among other Celtic unique units such as Ram, Stone
Thrower, Javelins units and cavalry…
Yes, for me the second dlc does not come from the Aztecs (similar to their version in AoE 3) or the Babylonians (similar to their version in AoEO)…
Yes, for me they are going to focus on the Celts of France and Britain, although there will be references to Germany and Spain here and there…
Yes, I think that with the Hindu they are going to document well so as not to have problems…
Yes, I already signed up…I’ll see if I can play it…
Well something is something isn’t it?..
Reposting this again in hopes that the developers will see this and consider it in the near future:
I would like to request this option to further enhance the spectator experiences by introducing the option to toggle the free-roam camera / first-person view angle. This enhancement would offer unique viewing perspectives and allow spectators to appreciate the battlefield from a ground-level vantage point.
It could also help editors create highlight-worthy film shots that capture the intensity and grandeur of the action and provide a “cinematic feel”. Spectators could witness battles as if they were part of the game, seeing the horizon, landscape, and the sky details, not just the top-down bird view.
This feature would elevate the visual experience and make every match more immersive and engaging.
In a professional tournament setting, I believe the free-roam camera option should be used sparingly by professional casters and commentators, only during quick replays of the action or when emphasizing a point with a different viewing angle. Maintaining the top-down bird’s-eye view most of the time will help preserve the integrity of pro-RTS gameplay.
But for us regular spectators watching other games, I think we should be able to use it whenever we want.
The return of the EE units, even if just for the scenario editor.
Can’t drag the camera, can combine keys with caps lock but won’t let me combine with space key
Medusa, Cyclops, Kraken having their instant kill restored.
Does this work? Is it used with the middle mouse button?
Without drag and decent hotkeys I won’t play it.
requested double press (x2) and alternate hotkey
If it weren’t for the fact that I have a program to center a window I wouldn’t even be able to try the game.
I’d love to be able to place all the important information in the bottom left corner, including the minimap.
Ressources, global queue, minimap, idle villagers.
Would be a massive change towards QOL.
In aoe3de you can have all the important information in one corner, I’d love the same here.
AoE 3 also has three different UI options, one that resembles legacy, one that inverts the resource and minimap position and one that resembles AoE 1 + 2. I hope Retold will add similar options, given that the original + EE had its resources at the bottom:
God powers remaining on top is fine imo.
Using Kronos’ timeshift (with the technology researched that allows 3 buildings to be timeshifted at once), I’d like to be able to click 3 barracks, click the timeshift hotkey, and then left click 3 times (while holding shift, just like when you’re building multiple buildings) and shift them all at once. Currently, you have to do it one by one and it’s very tedious!
You can press ‘alt + enter’
What I would most like to see is a UI similar to the one in classic AoE 3.
I like this!
During the beta, I didn’t focus on the settings. I only played one online battle because I’m not a fan of multiplayer, but I experienced pleasant gameplay - dramatically better than in the Extended Edition.
i think its time to give a special detail its own stage (not sure if it would be topic worthy but i still want to point it out nonetheless):
the new idles for myth units including titans (at least greek titan)!
I LOVE this SO MUCH. and i think it brings, on an objective standpoint, so much more to the unit and makes it more “alive”. never thought of such a feature and i really think it doesn’t get enough appreciation and attention.
so THANK YOU for adding this (and please add more if you have the time and energy)
100% agree.
Ressources, unit queue and minimap should be tucked in together, being super compact and with absolutely no space in between.
It should be one block.
Who the hell has the multitasking and time to check all different corners of the screen constantly to see all information scattered up???
I want ALL of it in one corner, either left or right, preferably left bottom corner.
In aoe3 this was solved beautifully.
The only thing that can be somwhere else on the screen are unit groups.
As these are not a number/variable that is dynamic and you don’t have to keep an eye on it, because you set it on your own and you honestly don’t even have to look at it once.
Having to followup your ressources, the minimap and the global queue all in different places of the screen feels ultra frustrating and is a reason for me not to play a game at all.
Having the minimap and the ressource overview on opposite corners of the screen like in aoe4 is the most stupidest and most frustrating thing I have ever seen in my life.
Especially when you play with a competitive mindset, it hinders you from using your potential.
