I don’t like a main spanish civ. I would prefer 2 civs instead of Spain, with their stats and units differences.
Kingdom of Castile and Crown of Aragon. And when this 2 civs arrive to the fourth age, the last age, they become Spain.

If Japan joins as a new civilization, I suggest that Japan’s campaign can be inserted into the Chinese, Japanese and Korean wars that took place in Korea from 1592 to 1598
Of course, the game production team should first complete the exclusive campaigns of Abbasid, Delhi Sultanate, Holy Roman Empire and China
