Mods are a big mistake to me… since to play with them its only in this planned/group matching, (not random matching) so players are sooo rude and impatient about everything. Its useless.
Yeah, it perhaps shows maybe an extra 2-5% if that. To be quite honest, it’s pretty pathetic. I want to be able to see an overview of my civ, to be able to zoom out far enough to be able to “form an army up” without having to scroll up/down or left/right. I want something in-between what we have as zoomed out and what the thumbnail shows.
Right now, it’s like we only can zoom out to a micro level (meaning only a small area), and not get to a macro level (where we see a much larger area). It’s like having a 5000x5000 square grid, yet you can only view 50x50 section at a time.
As for the little “bubble-curve” the panorama gives, it doesn’t add much at all.
Almost everyone seems pretty happy with the new zoom settings.
The cartoon graphic.
This AoE4 has already died for me. I hope the next AoE has realistic graphics. If you have cartoon graphics again I won’t buy it.
AoE3 and even AoE2 which is in 2D is better than AoE4
If AoE4 was made for e-sports or for kids, then let them play this game. I no longer play AoE4 or watch streams.
I don’t want to sound toxic, but there’s no other way to express my disappointment.
Supreme commander is the game that you need. Age of empires never had and don’t need those zoom leves.
AoEO is cartoony, AoE4 is a mix. With a darker color tone it looks better.
There is no 100% realistic AoE.
ugh… prepare for discussions because some users don´t like to hear it
surprisingly, i dislike that type of zoom a lot. coming from the original total annihilation game and any other major RTS in general, I feel that being able to zoom full out takes away the immersion of RTS. scroll left/right to control area of the maps
No guard function for units! This drives me nuts in IV. I want to assign guards to stuff (like arrow men to protect a cannon etc)
Also insufficient reminders about what civiliations are in play. When any building or unit is selected (my own included) there is nothing on-screen that tells me if that unit or building is English or Chinese etc. There should be an easy way of seeing what civilisation players are. Post-game as well, there is only the ‘overview’ that gives any info on the civilisations.
There should also be better in-game info available on the civilsation (it’s most powerful unit etc). I relied on this from previous AOE versions, as it helps guide my strategy.
I much prefer earlier versions of AOE - I feel like this game is half finished and i want to come back in a year when it’s more developed
That’s true, maybe if they darkened the lighting a little more… Maybe it will look a little better…
so kinda like mario strikers draw style? The aoeo looks ok but I not expert on the subject
Yeah,more or less…
I stopped playing a while after I was tired of needing to remember to constantly requeue a worker every 20 seconds. If I didn’t do it or forgot to I just fall behind so fast and it’s clear that’s the reason I would lose. Others would get to the next age so much quicker while I’m still planning my expansions and defenses and just forgetting to queue workers.
I was really hoping for an auto queue system or something. My ADHD brain can’t make this a habit, and honestly it’s the most braindead problem anyway. It’s really not fun or interesting to have to remember to smash some hotkeys every 20 seconds just to keep up with my econ.
If autoqueue existed I would be able to get way more friends into this game. And it wouldn’t be such a burden to play and get to the fun parts for me (smashing armies together and building big bases)
Yes that was debated a long time ago, but just in case you know that you can do 5 units with the shift
It’s not really the amount of units being produced that’s an issue, it’s the fact I need to be on top of it all the time. If I queue up 5 villagers at a time I’m sinking 200 extra food into something that isn’t immediately available so I’m putting myself back on that front now too. And even then I still have to come back in a couple minutes to check which is the part I just don’t want to have to worry about
your problem. Ttry to whine in dota2 that you can switch boots into intelligence.
Obviously some do not like the mechanic
But the truth is: even pro players queue 10+villagers and unqueue them if needed.
Mista constantly forget to queue units.
you just focused in some small detail, which restrict you from advancing.
I was reading some old patch notes to see what’s changed and I came across this little tidbit:
This was not in relation to auto queuing, but the sentiment here is just not met because let me tell you, hitting the villager button every 20 seconds is not an important high level strategic decision.
It really is a shame, this kind of ultra-competitive gatekeeping thinking is why most RTS games multiplayer communities are dead within a month. There are tons more people who would enjoy these games if they weren’t subjected to brainless but necessary busywork. And it only benefits everyone if the multiplayer community is larger and filled with more groups of varying skill level
I’m glad AOE4 is doing well with a decent sized playerbase, a part of me thinks that is because of the Age of Empires brand recognition as well as Relic’s own pedegree when it comes to RTS games for sure. Because I would sure as hell be making this my main go to game if it didn’t feel like such a chore to play sometimes.
There’s nothing wrong with dota btw. I’m just not a fan of MOBAs, I’m a fan of RTS’s. And you should want more people to think that way too.
Im not sure why we play less, maybe its
The wonder victory on tight team games is boring
Not nearly as many civs as were used to
Balance issues
Question, if aoe2 was remastered with the same 3D graphics as aoe4, would aoe4 be obsolete?
As of last patch, balance is actually tighter than in AoE2. Civ winrates are very well documented for both games.
At least half of the AoE2 players would absolutely hate that and never play it.
