According to that link, player numbers seem to have stabilized at around 2000 - 3000 players, closer to 3000 now since Immortal Pillars came out than before.
Tho it’s early to tell if it will stabilize at the higher numbers there are now, long term.
I think I’m clear on what AoM needs for the game to grow a bit more, they just need to invest resources in it.
Retold just need faster balance patches. I’ve seen at least 10 AoM players kinda “give up” on balance patch team after this last one that totally ignored greek and egyptian problems.
Some are trying to like AoE 4, others are playing non-RTS games..
I love the game and will always keep playing, but I recon balance patches are underwhelming since end of 2024
I’ve already given up. I waste time pointing out problems for nothing. My villagers keep walking endless distances to gather wood after building the warehouse next to a gold mine.
You can kinda fix this obvious issue by yourself simply by shift clicking gold mines after giving the building command.
This specific problem says more about your ability than about the game or devs lol
“Kinda fix” isn’t actually fixing the problem — at the very least, you’re admitting there’s a problem. You’re just not admitting that I might know how to “fix” it. But I must remind you that it is not right for a company to expect a user to “work around” or “fix” a manufacturing defect that they are already aware of.
Again, you’re assuming there’s a problem, but you sidestep my criticism with a personal attack on my “skill in the game” to try to embarrass me in some way. I only see a “poisonous” comment with no real intention of conveying a message.
With this in mind, I shouldn’t have pointed out this problem, since all I need to do is “fix” this attack delay by simply performing each attack manually.

Hi @_MarakuJa1, thank you for the report. This is a known issue and is tracked
You seem to be oblivious to the fact that these games are made by the same company and the company has shown us that if a game is underperforming, they won’t think twice about allocating resources to more profitable endaevours.
According to steamcharts AoM:R is sitting below AoE 3 in terms of player numbers, if them halting development on AoE 3 brings you joy or makes you think this spells good news for AoM:R I don’t know what to tell you, you must be pretty dense tbh. Revelling in AoE 3’s demise is also kind of a shitty thing to do if you are capable of feeling any form of empathy, could you imagine how you would feel if the situation was reversed? I personally love AoE 2 and AoM:R and haven’t played the other games much but this AoE 3 news has left me with a pretty bad taste in my mouth and this is coming from a long time age of mytholgy player, I’ve played aom for 20+ years.
It’s just a video game, I’m not going to cry if AOM suffers the same fate, in fact I’d keep playing it because the game is fun enough as it is for the infinite multiplayer content. It’s like StarCraft in fact, there are only 3 races and 0 major updates in the last 10 years, the game is still played.
So stop being grumpy for a bit and enjoy what you’ve still got: Aoe3 online, which will remain so for the next 10 years no doubt.
Although going through cancellation of your favorite game is horrible (As someone who enjoys playing Heroes of the Storm I totally get it), I still don’t think that AoE3 was any better than AoM. AoE3 has had multiple free to try periods, It got its promised new content and had enough time to settle its own player base.
AoM on the other hand had way more peak players, It is available on several other platforms, And never really had significant reduction in its cost at any time, and it has only been released for a few months.
I think AoM outperformed AoE3 but whether or not it was enough for the publishers to continue (and how they will continue) is the big question.
I think there will be at least 2 new DLCs, because the next DLC is already sold with the premium pack so it’s 100% guaranteed. And at least one new one, because I think AOM’s premium pack has already sold very well so they’ll have at least one new DLC to buy and probably also a pack of new gods like Freyr.
Even if it all stops there, it’s really incredible for an RTS to have 7 different civilizations, that would be HUGE. But I think that if the figures are positive, we could aim for 10 in-game civilisations, for example.
THE GAME IS VERY UNFAIR. PLAYERS DO NOT LIKE AN UNFAIR GAME. AGE OF EMPIRES 2 IS A SUCCESS BECAUSE IT IS A FAIR AND BALANCED GAME ACROSS ALL CIVILIZATIONS. AN EXAMPLE IN AOE2 IS THAT ALL CIVILIZATIONS HAVE A RANGED ANTI-ARCHER UNIT. IN CONTRAST, IN AGE OF MYTHOLOGY RETOLD THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR THE NORSE. IT’S NOT POSSIBLE THAT THE NORSE DO NOT HAVE A BASIC UNIT LIKE THE RANGED ANTI-ARCHER UNIT!!! IT’S COMPLETELY ABSURD!! ALL PANTHEONS DESERVE TO HAVE A BASIC UNIT IN THE GAME.
Great, that’s what lenience gave us, the troll is lurking other topics now
If you don’t like to debate, I don’t understand what you’re doing in this forum. All you do is accuse users of being trolls. Please find something useful to do with your life instead of accusing other users.
Although I have disagreed with every word that you have said, I do agree that this place is a place to debate.
Which debate? Ignoring everyone’s else answers to a made up problem and being stubborn to one’s own opinion? You vision about debate is very odd.
being stubborn is one of the conditions for a debate!
The main problem with this guy is that he keeps making multiple threads about the same thing.
And also, He kind of represents the casual playerbase of the game.
If someone is not willing to see other points and be open to be proven wrong, there is no debate, so being stubborn doesnt really help.
Sometimes our admirable not-troll user is too good for ludicrous Need another difficulty level - #2 by BornWinter52864
sometimes too bad too kill archers with anything but other archers
It's unfair that all pantheons have long range archers except the Norse , Any solution? - #27 by BornWinter52864
Defintelly not a troll, just a casual with a Millenial Puzzle from Yu-Gi-Oh!
Competing with AoE2 is a bad idea because AoE2 is not the competition. AoE2 is a game from the same developer and the same publisher.
Making AoE2 players switch to AoM doesn’t generate profits. AoM needs to attract other people.
Or course people can play both games. But why would you want to play both games if they offer the same experience?
Also what you said is wrong. There are civilisations that don’t have Elite Skirmishers or have them but leak so many other technologies that they are useless.
There are civs that have to rely on other units like Hussars, Onagers or unique units like Huskarls to counter Archers.
At no point did I mention the word ‘Elite’ Skirmishers. I only referred to ‘Skirmishers’ as an example because in Age of Empires 2, as in any strategy game, the Skirmisher or ranged anti-archer unit is a basic and necessary unit for the game.
