I usually make quite long posts, and link to those when I want to share my take. However, those have been getting caught in the censor recently. I understand that you need to censor links to random websites, but why is this forum censored from itself? A few other websites like gifycat, youtube, etc have also been getting caught. It would be great if the mods or admins of the forum could look into this.
The link ID generated is random by the forum whenever you upload any images. Then the censors checks whether the text in that randomly generated link (which it created on its own) is objectionable. If yes, it converts the link to #### Very smart system. 11
If you can provide examples of links that have been blocked, that would be helpful so we can check them against the filtering rules. Or if it gets blocked before you can see what it was, if you can specify the date/time/timezone of when it happened we can review logs to try and find it.
Please check my comment on the post “Do pro players ruin this game”. I commented 2 hours ago. Here’s a link to that post:
I also had a conversation with a mod a while back about this issue. Although I don’t think I can link that.
Thanks, that was helpful for troubleshooting. I just pushed an update that should help with this a bit. Another thing you can do if it does still block is to remove the text part of the url. So if you have:
https://forums.ageofempires.com/t/agressive-play-might-be-fun-for-pros-however-its-turning-away-newcomers/234768/127
Change it to:
https://forums.ageofempires.com/t/234768/127
And that should reduce the chances of it getting blocked but still work.
check edits:
earlier the images were uploaded into forum directly, but that censored some links,
then I instead provided external links to the image instead of uploading.
This works. Thanks for the quick response!
If it’s the link text getting censored, which it sounds like it is, then the fix I pushed should hopefully cover that scenario too. If the images themselves were getting blocked, that would be something different.
Excellent. While you pushed a fix for link, can you also push fix like censoring name of some in game Techs?
For example -
######### (Blacksmith 1st archer attack upgrade).
And some civs and historical figures either represented in this game or others or relevant to the time period are also censored. The biggest two examples are the Hatti and the Kazars. Please fix this. We shouldn’t have to dance around actual historical terms on a forum about a history-based series.
Fletching should be allowed now.
Doesn’t look like Hatti or Kazars is being filtered, but if you see other specific instances, let me know.
Thanks a lot.
I don’t know about Hatti. About Kazars, in actual name there is an “H” between “K” and “a”. If we write that “H”, the word gets censored.
K
H
A
Z
A
R
S
is the actual term.
Because I had to use the censored versions to explain what words are being censored. I’m going to type the actual words now:
################# ################
If I am correct, they will be censored.
Hatti is Hittytes, but with the “y” replaced with an “i.” This is for @DodoNotDoDo’s benefit.
Thanks, Khazars and Hittites should be allowed now too.
YES! THANK YOU!
20 characters.
Thanks to this change, I’m gonna post my Khazar civ concept soon.
Hi, youtube links are getting censored a lot as well. Here’s an example, from Hera’s gameplay youtube channel.
########################################
Could you please fix this?
If you include it as a full url, like https://channel.youtube.com/watch?v=j1df2R6n6q4 then it should work now.
