Workshop content sold as a dlc for 13 euros

Stop crying bro. He’s got a job, you know. He’s not gonna die if people don’t pay for voice acting in scenarios that are already free.

Come to think of it, why doesn’t Microsoft hire him to make a new campaign instead, and also give a job to other map makers too? That way everybody wins: the scenario creators get their checks, voice actors and artists get paid, players get new content and Microsoft gets sales.

I played all his scenarios of course, my favourite I think is the Seljuk one, but Ragnar Saga must be the most complex of all custom ones so it’s not easy to pick one.

My point is just that there is much out there apart from philtydelphia, not trying to put him down, but I guess it’s like when I try to expand a person’s musical tastes beyond Coldplay. I like some Coldplay myself and of course every opinion is respectable but the more you know the more you can get a better idea of what you’re talking about.

I have some doubt it will but thanks, let’s hope some more players try custom campaigns after this dlc at least…

Exactly. It happened exactly this when Lord basse was hired to make Jadwiga and I think almost nobody would say it was a bad move. I think the problem indeed is Microsoft doesn’t want to invest anymore, to “risk” to innovate and try to give better content.

Well my hope is that this will happen in the future and that this is a 1 time cashgrab.

He was working on sicilian campaign as well, right?

He worked on a few campaigns (don’t know which), and imo they are pretty good. And yeah, I want Forgotten Empires to not make this mistake again, but seeing that apparently the majority of people support this DLC (Reddit mostly, also the trailer on Youtube has barely any dislikes), I think they might do it again. If the lowest possible effort and investment DLC with barebones content sells well at almost the price of a full DLC like Mountain Royals, they for sure will try it again, it’s easy money.

Well has he produced many more custom campaigns?

Because if he hasn’t then they have nothing to recycle.

Hope the DLC proves without a doubt when it comes out it wasn’t a cash grab… once people actually see what is in it. Threads like this will be interesting to re-visit. Much like the campaign/scenario semantics petition threads are now, after four- and 24-year old proof was found showing ‘campaign’ being officially used to describe ‘scenario’ content

I hope it is not a cash grab as well . But I don’t think Microsoft is that bad in advertising.

The screenshots of the scenarios in Steam DLC page look terrible. What’s the polishing. They look plain and dull.

I agree in general but there is one thing to take into account: reddit people are fanboys, specially those that comment(in general), just see the whole drama of multi cups. Furthermore there is censorship in Youtube or Twitter, I got blocked from AOE twitter for example. In reddit you get downvoted. Here I see more freedom, plus they payd youtubers to say good stuff 2000%.
In the spanish-speaking community I see more complains since they are smaller youtubers

Filthy used campaign to describe his own personal standalone scenario mods. I wouldn’t consider that “official”.

He has, and other scenario makers like Bassi a Lord Basse, who work for Forgotten Empires (and I think Hainaut too), also uploaded custom content. The difference is they made actual campaigns, not standalone scenarios like Filthy.

And I was also this close into buying it until I also realized it’s a ripoff.

A good reason for a boycott.

… while employed with the franchise, and which got used in an official marketing video a few years later, too, because it was so official.

I would say it’s ‘official’, but no need for another semantics debate, thread, or petition. If it’s important enough to you that that could easily happen, then I gladly concede, for the good of this thread’s readers, to call it ‘unofficial’

Yes, if we complain about the price, let’s just wait for the price to drop and that’s it…

Yes, they should add more Byzantine and Slavic missions for the future… we are missing Belisarius and the Rus missions from AoE 4 are very good…

Continue them, they are very good although simple campaigns… Attila shows you Rome in the last 3 decades of her life and Joan of Arc ##### you a heroic but sad story at the end…

Of course, that is the most expensive of all… paying voice actors is not cheap…

No, only the ones that are posted above… from now on they will only include new campaigns and battles (or some that were very forgotten within the workshop or the custom campaigns that the Chinese make)

They are still many custom campaigns from other creators though. I won’t be surprised if they do it again…

Yes exactly this. I was talking about Hainaut, she has amazing campaigns! And Bassi of course as you mentioned.

I’ll not buy that and no, 13 euros is not worth for some bug fixes or voice acting

Agree. Somebody said voice acting is the most costly part so the price is reasonable. But I would point out that voice acting is definitely NOT the selling point for aoe2 and I dont think it has ever been before. Content, campaign, civs, units are.

Yeah, voice acting is a good thing to have, but people don’t buy DLC for it. People usually want new stuff, not… audio files that are completely optional.

Yes, now they are going to launch dlcs with Ramsey’s other custom campaigns or translating the custom campaigns that the Chinese do in the workshop xd…

Well, wait until the summer sales and buy it there… I have bought the dlcs until DoI for less than 1 dollar xd…
