World's Edge will have a big presence at GAMESCOM 2025 (they'll show some surprises)

Would love to have Co-Op Repetible Missions as those of SCII :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It’s curious how the 6 year rule has been followed all along

I hope that “new game mode” doesn’t replace the number of civilizations they have to add.

If they said the DLC was going to be the biggest so far, they should add at least 3 civilizations.

I hope there are 4 civilizations plus variants.

They didn’t. We have no real idea about the scope, especially as one DLC has already been released this year. Except we now know we’re getting a game mode of sorts.

If there is no civs in new dlc I wont buy it. And I think most of the players think and would do the same.

The way I see it, they wouldn’t say “We’re pretty sure you’ll like what you see” if they weren’t adding things that most of the community asks for. Full civs have to be coming in the next DLC, I’m not setting my hopes higher than 2 at a time, but I would be shocked and flabbergasted if they didn’t add new base-line civs or only variants in the next DLC.

Only three weeks until we find out together!

I think Beasty said it will be bigger than The Sultans Ascend but I’m not sure if it was before they released the Knights of Cross and Rose

Can’t wait any longer!!!

Yes, they missed the opportunity to release it on Xbox in 2022 when they released KotM… now you have the entire saga on consoles except AoE 3 and it pisses me off because I read that many people ask for it and the devs act like they don’t know…

Na, there’s still a long way to go until AoE 5…

This is most likely it…

Yes, Spain, Aztecs and Incas for AoE 4 and Chronicles of Alexander for AoE 2…and obviously the Japanese for Retold…

Castle Siege 2.0 is coming…let’s see if I try it now, although I don’t rule out that it will be a Rise of Kingdoms 2.0…

Knowing them…they’ll make historical battles co-op too and little else…

Yes, curious to say the least… you can add that AoE Online came out on Steam in 2012 and 1 DE came out in 2018 (6 years) and AoE 2 HD came out in 2013 and 2 DE in 2019 (6 years too)…

Yes, if TSA brought 6 civs, then this one should bring 8 civs (4 main civs and 4 variants) … a dlc with Spanish, Aztecs, Incas and Vikings plus Novgorod (Rus variant), Tatars (Mongol variant), Cholas/Dravidians (Delhi variant) and Seljuks (Ottoman variant) would be an instabuy…and a Reconquista campaign (from El Cid to the Catholic Monarchs) (1069-1492) and even an Ottoman campaign from the Seljuks and Manzikert to Suleiman (1071-1566) or else just a campaign of 8 historical battles using all the civs…

Yeah, was some kind of unofficial “leak” (or rumour) that the devs never confirmed. I think it was before the previous DLC.

Element for others genres?

Quoted from the article:

… we’ve continued to push things even farther with a new game mode we’ll be unveiling with this next expansion. In fact, while there will be plenty of the Age of Empires IV gameplay you know and love to revel in, you might recognize core elements from other genres making their debut as well. We’re pretty sure you’ll like what you see, and there’s so much more to share!

What other genres are you referring to? Because recently, speaking of hit games, they would be:

What other genre elements are they referring to?

  • Monkeys?
  • Waifus?
  • Turn-based RPG?

I’m really intrigued. At least AoE IV on Steam counts as Historical, RTS, Real-Time, Strategy, City-Builder, Economic Management (hehehe, the Macro), War, Co-op, Multiplayer.

Other genres would be “Fighting, Turn-Based RPG, Tactical RPG, Documentary Game, Point and Click, MOBA, Sports, Cars, etc.”

Pretty sure the new game mode is MOBA

Because our game is part of the broader Strategy Genre I’m going with Grand Strategy and 4X plus City building/Simulation Sub-genres. Maybe they release a Turn-Based Strategy Game Mode for a more Chess-Like experience In-game. RPG elements could also appear as AoE III/Online home cities/personalities and could be delivered as leaders who must choose a path based on experience points or so. Please see Arena of the Gods on AoM Retold on how this works

Please no!
See what happened with WarCraft III and Defense of the Ancients

i hope they give us more AI improvements like those in AoM..also a fleshed out custom game and singleplayer …give AI some personalities not A.I Hard…A.I Easy…give them names atleast like those in AoE2…when playing aginst Turks you can see names like Osman or Suleiman etc…GIVE US CASUALS SOMETHING
I Would like to see even bigger maps Gigantic plus or something like that…i would love a map so big you can literally colonize other continents.
Also some form of diplomacy mode for AI and players…aliances etc in longer games

You mean the massively popular mapmod that spawned an entire genre of games?

What happened with it?

we dont need more MOBAs in RTS games…MOBAS killed the genre

The genre is doing just fine (genre purists aside). But I didn’t say we needed more MOBA influences in RTS games (even though as an optional game mode, anything can go). I asked what happened specifically with WC3 and DotA.

As far as I know, nothing happened to WC3 because of DotA. And I played both of them.

Large updates to the modding tools is what MOBA like additions would entail.

When people express worry about ‘MOBAs in RTS’, what is it exactly that they are concerned with? Having a hero unit with levels and abilities? 2 teams with AI controlled mega bases and waves of units marching towards their respective enemies? Large format team games (5v5 or 4v4) where each player only has control of one unit?

It would be much easier to have these conversations if people could be a little more specific about what they don’t want rather than just painting it with such a broad brush.

I don’t want to get into the weeds on this, but MOBAs didn’t kill the genre… they’re so wildly popular that they became the genre. They are some of the most played games on mobile and PC for a reason…

Exactly!
Thats what I am talking about

Yeah!
I mean look how engaging is AI now in AoM Retold
Just need a more Intelligent AI trained with real human skills
