Personally, I definitely support the Persian Empire, which follows the Asian country model, and the two southern African countries of Kongo and Zulu, which follow the African country model. On the one hand, this can compensate for the absence of Persian and southern African countries on the map. On the other hand, it will be quite aesthetically pleasing to see the four indigenous of the Americas, the four Asian countries, and the four African countries competing together
I think Persia would be the clear frontrunner by a huge margin. Personally, I’d also really love to see Austria added, as it would help complete the picture of the European battlefields of the early modern period. There are so many civilizations I’d love to see added to the game, but only three options.
If support continue, I would love a southamerican DLC with native civs like mapuche, tupi or guaraní or postcolonial civs like Brazil and Argentina. Just because I want more maps and more native sites from SA. A south african DLC, asian or even oceania DLC could also be cool (I think northamerica and europe are quite over represented now)

Persians, of course. I vote Siamese too cause I feel like they’d be very interesting to add, as well function well as Southeast Asian reps and would show ppl a part of early modern history that’s often ignored. Plus, the more elephants in game, the better. Then finally Brazil, as a third revolutionary nation after the US and Mexicans. They are the only revolutionary nation that makes sense, given its size, number of states and cultural representation. Canada is also large, but way too similar to the US for my taste. Argentina is big and different, but doesn’t have enough states. And culturally the only other civ that could be interesting are the Haitians, and I’d definitely love them, but they don’t exactly work as “Federal Americans.” I would love a good Haiti revolt, though, with the same level of quality as the new revolts.
That would also be my list in terms of priority. Persians>Siamese>Brazilians. Honorary fourth choice goes to the Mapuche
I’m aware, however they were Portuguese vassals for a considerable time, where as the Rozvi were far more independent and powerful - taking all the Mutapa gold mining regions and frequently raiding.
Shona States would cover all the bases, in the same way other broader Civs do. If I had to pick a specific Shona State, it would be Rozvi Empire anyway.
I don’t know why I thought the age up required 25 states lol. Yeah Argentina has enough. Many of those weren’t colonized by the timeframe of the game though, so your mileage may vary wrt that.
Eh, it’s true some were still territories only rather than states.
Personally I didn’t mind, they were colonized strictly speaking, just not full organized, main problem was that it leads to really funny flags needed to represent them.
