Jin, is the nomad controlled dynasty of China.
Could have better cavalry
yes few extra cavalry units and techs
Someone suggested something like “sub-civs” a while ago. Maybe should work like that. More like AOM gods. Some “civs” (major gods) share the majority of their roster of units and options (minor gods), with some differences.
I think it’s a good move. You’ll quickly run out of ideas if you keep up with 6 unique buildings all having distinct functions (AOM and AOE3 have a lot of diverse functions but many of them overlap, or have narrower effects).
The only thing I’d probably pick on is how they will be named and represented. Could use actual “sub-civs” like Ayyubids, Teutonic knights, etc. I really dislike civ6’s approach of “giving the leaders new clothes and a title in the brackets and they are now new leaders”. So don’t make them “Abbasids (xxxx)” “HRE (xxxx)”. Please put more efforts into that.
I think if they do the variant civs great, it’s definitely worth the price for this DLC.
I mean even for 2 civs, $15 is pretty solid. For all this it’s a great deal.
Wow. And only 14,99 euros.
Can’t wait till November 14th.

Sub-Civilizations are a good option for representing large umbrella civs (this is an even better solution than creating completely new ones) such as: Abbasids, Holy Roman Empire or Chinese.
But still, I miss the third civ in this DLC - Persians civ! - who deserve more than just being a sub-civilization for the Abbasids civ.
On the other hand, the Abbasid Caliphate covered a huge area of the Islamic world - the Arabian Peninsula, the Levant, Persia and Egypt. Probably in the future it will simply be a base for Islamic sub-civs like: Mamelukes, Timurids, Persians and more.
Is there a pre order bonus for the dlc? If no that’s fine ![]()
Wut? No.
Just here to say, as a dev working with Indians developers in a bank, this is the worst idea they got ever.
They usually pay low, so you get bad Indians devs.
I had a few devs I was in contact that would put characters \r \t \n in a XML file. They would not be able to have common sense on where the issue could be. They would also often gaslight into blaming the issue on, instead of trying to find a solution.
This is extremely bias point of view, but every coworker I exchanged with told me the same. All the good devs are gone because they weren’t paid enough, and the technical debt increased insanely.
Yes you can pre-order it on Steam here: Pre-purchase Age of Empires IV: The Sultans Ascend on Steam
But you must have AoE4 on Steam as well for it to run. If you have it on game pass then I guess you get it for free? Not really sure.
Would like to see in future maybe Bulgarian empire as representative of Balkan culture, of course after we got Indian, Korean and other higher on priority list
Hope dlc will sell well as motivation for developers to continue delivering more content
I hope so too. I know people can be harsh and strict towards the developers, but I hope they realize that the more that buy and support the more content in the future will we get. It goes hand in hand.

Aha good to know! Thanks for the info!
Speaking of Iran and Persians, check out my version of the Persians civ concept.
They better fix the broken game before pumping 6 additionial non balanced civs into it.
I’m honestly not excited about this at all.
Hopefully only the “real” new civs are playable in multiplayer or I’ll pretty surely leave this game.
Same way aoe3 DE got destroyed and now it’s just ashes because it can’t be balanced anymore.
What’s so broken about this game? I think we are playing two different games.
There are tons of threads in the bug section.
It would take an hour to only write a small selection down here.
Well I think it makes sense since the kingdom and territories have changed hands in history; Be aware that the Ottoman Empire replaced the Byzantine Empire and converted the Basilica of Saint Sofia into a great Mosque
