That’s a misconception; the Base camel archer dps per cost is GREATER than an archer’s dps per cost VS SPEARMAN!
camel archers: 30 attack/1.25s/240 resources = 0.1 DPS/resource
archer: 10 attack/1.5s/80 resources = 0.083 DPS/resource
ALSO while camel archers have less HP and less BASE attack and less range than an archer THEY (camel archers) train in 80% of the time it would take to que 3 archers out of one archer range. It just so happens that most of the camel base stats are comparable to 80% of 3 archers.
examples:
3 archer hp = 210; camel archer hp= 175; 175/210= 83%
3 archer que time= 45 sec; camel archer que time= 35; 35/45 = 78%
3 archer base dps (no bonuses) = 15/1.5; camel archer base dps (no bonuses) = 10/1.25; [10/1.25]/[15/1.5]= 80%
archer range 5 tiles; camel archer range 3.75 tiles; 3.75/5= 75%
movement speed is the only base stat that is superior to base archer movement speed.
all in all if the units are being used optimally to COUNTER spears, camels are better at DPS/cost…however the low range and being a cavalry unit does put it at disadvantages versus spearman IF spears connect.
Final thoughts; unless you’re going on a raid camel riders are meant to support your cavalry from spearman while being up close and personal. Camel archers are NOT designed to engage an equal resource of standard archers.

I hope all HoW tech train in 30 seconds and are much much cheaper (example fresh food 175 resources goes to 75 resources).
HoW tech have multiple locations where they can be trained to allow for parallel functions
Camel Riders need a charge speed boost LIKE EVERY OTHER MELEE in this game already has
the Camel speed tech IMO should be available in feudal age.

Ya bc they specialize against spearmen, but you have to group micro them and keep running back and shooting down one spear or the spears will still wreck camels bc spears still get bonus vs mounted.
Camels suck hard vs everything else.
This feels arguable, but they’re not supposed to replace the base archer anyways, they’re supposed to be a powerful unique unit.
As mentioned above, this is quite hard to do and if I gotta group micro anyways I may as well use the cheaper archers that do the same job.
They almost always will unless you’re laser focused on microing your group of camels.
I’m actually ok with the current speed the HoW techs research, however I feel age 1 research time should be decreased bc we also have to build the HoW and that takes like 30-45 secs
They don’t have a lance tho, the other mounted units get charge bc they have a lance and then swap to their sword.
I’d be fine if they got a lance but I feel like camel riders do well in cav vs cav engagements, they’re just too expensive imo
Camel archers are the ones that need damage/resist tweaks
I feel like this would make sense as we’ve already goy access to camel archers in age 2, who said they can’t just give them a sword?
Edit: camels feel like such a waste for me, in practice I literally only use spearmen as Abbasids
you clearly didn’t understand what I said because all your “counter” points are not countering anything I said?? I already mentioned camel archers need to stay away from spears? also at decent level game play it is standard to micro your range units away from melee units of comparable size/threat? Thirdly I also mentioned that camel archers are suppose to be SUPPORT, which mean they are made in conjunction with cavalry—which means if the enemy wants to waste their spearman time chasing camel archers rather than defending their OWN archers…I think you already won that fight?
Lastly how is a fact arguable?? 35 second is 80% of 45 seconds? That’s arguable?

As Camel archer’s have basically melee range and are expensive af, this is really well countered by archers. You may succeed with it, as probably everyone is surprised by this playstyle, but I doubt it would survive when it would be a common strat, as it is also easy to scout and quite late for a early push.
depends on the map; but tower rush into ram push is very very very strong.
good maps for this strat are King of the hill, arabia, etc (tower tree lines)
Maps where gold is exposed and playing HRE or french.
Mongols are just too strong; but if u can out play them on an exposed stone mine, then u could get an early lead
Agree with a previous suggestion. drop its health and cost until it is viable.
On paper it is a good unit. High damage, high health, buffs friendlies, debuffs enemies, and costs 1 pop.

they should definitely be a feudal age unit, they act as strong as a feudal age unit but cost as an imp unit. they are only useful if getting knight rushed.
Thanks for the camel archer v archer comparison! but when have you seen a civ mass spears against you in a 1v1 xD in a team game hundreds, but in a 1v1 they’re for sure weaker than normal archers against normal units (archers/MAA). So they could use better utillity. and Camel riders, yeah we know their problem.
Thing is Abbasid have weak unique units that make them no good in imp, but have eco that ramps up in imp, kinda counter intuitive.
ALSO! I realized mongols get trebs with infantry but Abassids don’t??? I rate Abbasids should be the better siege creation civ!!!
