Please no more European civs. I think the total of 40 civs is enough and I think one more civ should be the Nubians which can use the Middle Eastern building set since the Nubians are from Egypt which is in the Middle East. Also, there won’t be a Byzantine or Northern European building set because there’s no need for those.
I’d prefer that they wrap up Europe with one final DLC that includes most definitely the Wallachians (Vlachs, Romanians) because they already have a campaign, and either the Aragonese or the Serbocroats (joint civ). Then no more European civs as I can’t find any other viable.
But no worries. I do believe that should there be a next DLC, it will not be set in Europe.
But why is there any need to finish Europe, an extremely well represented region that isnt the center of the world, before the barely represented rest?
Because it is my personal preference that they wrap up Europe and then move to other regions so that we don’t have to return to Europe again. Nothing more to that.
Because it could sell. Why make civs like Nubians that no one cares about, when they can add civs that people would pay for?
I really don’t care about the civs which are suggested here and I can tell you, if the next one is going to feature any of those civs I’m going to skip it until its on sale. I’m not the only here too which thinks that Europe is done. That’s my two cents.
The only “”"“European”"""" civs that we really need are both Georgians and Armenians, Here’s an hope for them to be featured in the next DLC.
What evidence is there that European civs sell better than non-European ones?
Thats not a reason for a random player to want them.
Brilliant ideas sir. After a Cacasus DLC and African DLC I’d love to see any of these Ideas implemented as a DLC.
Just remember that the Byzantine Empire was not exclusively in Bulgaria/Greece/Italy but Anatolia, the Levant and North Africa as well. So I believe a conglomeration of Byzantine, Bulgarian and Serbain architecture will not soffice. The Bulgars and Serbs can have a shared set but the Byzantines should have a distinct set showcasing every cultural part of their Empire espacially the sandstone structures they built in the East.
Looking at the last 2 dlcs civis we can see some common things and might be able to narrow down who might get added.
New civis are
Already represented in current campaigns.
Can use already ingame building set.
Close proximity to a civi without a full campaign.
Shows up in the old civi campaign.
Now I will give a correction:
-
If you mind Finns civ is unnecessary, you can call he Swedes (they conquered the areas inhabited by Ugro-Finns). Then the civ Vikings would represent the Danes, Norwegians, etc, and the Swedes would represent themselves and the Ugro-Finnish peoples. Swedes could have one Finnish UU and a joint regional unit shared with the Vikings civ. The Unique Technologies of the Swedish civ would be based generally on the Kingdom of Sweden.
-
Croats and Serbs spoke a similar language (they have a common origin), but the differences between them are very, very great. It was influenced by religion and politics. Even modern Croats, Serbs and Bosnians speak similar languages, but religion, politics, and culture are too different from each other for them to unite.
-
I called civ Romanians because it would represent not only Wallachians but also Moldovans and Transylvanians.
Finally, I would like to point out that it is probably best to have Eastern Europe in mind so that the creators can focus on the Caucasus, the Middle East, India, Asia, Africa and America?
The proposal of this DLC would be the final end to Eastern Europe. The name of this DLC itself says it will be a long break from Europe. After finishing Eastern Europe, you can go on a trip to Asia through the Caucasus, and then you can return to Africa via India and the Middle East. At the end of the trip, we would sail to America. After this trip, we would return to the old continent to receive the two final DLCs for AoE 2 - breaking the German umbrella into 3 civs (Bavarians and Saxons + Teutons in the game) and the Mediterranean DLC (Venetians and Aragonese).
Nations such as Albanians and Basques are unfortunately too small for their own civs - in addition, they have no relatives who could cover them without any problems.
Therefore, they could be represented by the civs which territorially included these nations.
- Albanians could be covered by Venetians civ
- Basques could be covered by Aragonese civ
You still need to come up with:
3-4 bonuses
Unique unit
2 unique techs
List of leaders (Swedish leaders don’t count)
And given that Venetians are covered by Italians, and Aragonese are covered by Spanyards, then we don’t need any of these.
This pseudo-argument fits as a disapproval of any new civ…
It doesn’t fit with any of the suggested African civs, nor with the Georgians and Armenians. Doesn’t apply to the Indians either, because that umbrella civ is anachronistic.
On the other hand, you can’t argue that Venetians aren’t Italian, and that Aragonese aren’t Spanish.
If we are really doing to have a new European DLC…
I’d like to name it “Bulwark of Christianity”:
- Armenians
- Croats
- Georgians
- Vlachs
Since they all defended Christian world from the Islamic Turks.
However before this, I still wanna see the Jurchens and Khitans introduced into the game first.
C’mon my Chain Whip Cavalry (Iron Flail) and Crossbow Cavalry.
But you can compare them to Indians - also quite big civs umbrellas.
