Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - The European Borderlands (DLC proposal)

During the Ottoman invasion, Croatia was under Hungarian rule, while Serbia was fighting against Ottomans.

I actually not really care about this and people stated they Croats and Serbs could be represented by a same civ.

This is a bad idea because the Caucasus deserves its own DLC - and a separate architectural set.

Serbs civ and Finns (or Swedes for the stubborn) civ are civs that are necessary to create completely new sets of architecture - Northern European and Byzantine.

Without new civs from the Balkans and Northern Europe, don’t count on new-free architecture sets. The creators would like to earn money on new sets, and new civs are the best motive to work on it.

But that’s because the Indian civ is anachronistic - it made no sense to put an Indian civ, when Indians had never been united throughout the middle ages. It’s the equivalent of having a “European” umbrella civ.

Ugh, you showed off your ignorance…

This is the equivalent of the Balkan umbrella - India is a region, not a continent!

Why do you think they cannot have an own set while they are in the DLC with other civs?
Portuguese did not have same set with Africans.
Cumans did not have same set with east Europeans.

So? There are many people said we do not need any Europeans more, then you gonna introduce them one by one?
Tring to be represented them in less numbers of civs as possible is not a bad idea if you really want new Europeans.

Your DLC proposition would destroy the chance for a North European set and a Byzantine set.

Some people want more, others don’t want it at all.

It is impossible to please everyone.

I don’t sure what Byzantine set you called means.
But I would like to put Byzantine, Bulgarians, Vlachs and Croats (perhaps Serbs you stated) into the new Balkan set. In the other hand, Armenians and Georgians would have a Caucasian set.

Giving north Europeans an own set sounds great, it probably seems weird that Vikings has a central European set. But to be honest, Finn records may be too less to be created as a civ. If there are other civs like Georgians or Vlachs have not in the game, Finns basically has no chance.

So that is why you don’t care the reality problem?
People perhaps could bear 4 civ of Europeans but it is impossible for 6, 8 or even more.

Only the Mediterranean set of architecture is suitable for the Croats civ - just look at the photos of Croatian cities.

The Eastern European architecture set fits perfectly with the Romanians. Just like the Croats, just look at the photos of Romanian cities.

Therefore, you can change the name of the Finnish civ proposed by me to the Swedish civ. Sweden covered the territory of the Finno-Ugric people, so it can represent them with a Unique Unit.

Do you consider about how Finnish and Swedish people think about this?

Well, it actually is not a problem while Indians has it own set. 11
In the past people asked for south European set, now asking for the own set.
But Mongols still share the same one with Japanese, Huns still share the same one with Teutons. What the world 11.

Mongols, Huns and the rest of the Nomads should have their own architectural set - Nomadic set.

Europe isnt a continent either… Its also a region. And not that much more varied than India.

Let us immediately acknowledge that Europe, Asia and Africa do not exist - there is ONLY Afroeurasia !!!

Eh I dont think thats fair. Eurasia is for sure a single continent with no real separation by water, Africa is just barely conected meanwhile (not to mention Europe is very small compared to anything but Australia)

America is also two continents

You are clinging to geographic issues. Accordingly, any island can be considered a continent.

The British Isles are a separate continent - even the UK came out of Europe :joy:

In either case I dont think that you cant argue that Europe isnt as much of a region of Eurasia as India is.

And comparing India with the Balkans is silly

Pretty sure they dont mind or care.

Europe is a separate continent - in terms of culture, civilization and history, without a shadow of a doubt.

Makes sense. The Balkans are inhabited by peoples unrelated to each other, i.e. South Slavs, Greeks, Albanians, Romanians and Hungarians - to put it simply. Just like India.

The point isn’t so much about continent/region, but extent and variety of population, states and cultures found within the area. Therefore India can be compared to Europe much moreso than to the Balkans.

BTW, just so we’re clear, this conversation is about the whole Indian sub-continent, not just the modern-day Indian state. So we’re talking about a territory that extends to modern-day Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka also.
