I finally know the reason why this happens!!!
This is because of the lack of 4bit-alpha channel support in the game. This lack of feature is the reason of 90% Visual Glitches in the game. Please AoM Team, Fix it in the upcoming update.

I’m using steam to try to update to the 2.7 patch, but is says I need a private beta access code??
I’m stuck, can anyone help?

You don’t. Just select 2.7 and it will start downloading automatically
