Any hints for "Porto" AOE2 DLC?

The worse thing is that it might have Venetians which feels redundant as going back to Western/Southern Europe (don’t care exactly which but you get my point) instead of going further east and east to Asia, I’d rather have Georgians over Venetians if that’s the case.

Not the best IMO but a solid candidate indeed. They were in the Realms mods. Could go along with Chimu.

I agree with @RatcicleFan @Temudhun that it’s about representing all world regions more fairly. With the exception of exactly one DLC, Rise of the Rajas, there was always at least 1 new Euro civ added and with the latest DE Euro DLC, instead of getting rid of the initial Eurocentrism, the devs are increasing it.

There’s no reason for that at all and honestly, it’s a shame that the regional units like Eagle Warrior, Battle Elephants and all the architecture sets don’t get the same love.

And to be honest, with the recent additions, there’s really nothing of note anymore to add in Europe. I even considered the last 4 additions to be really unnecessary but that’s already known.

I don’t know how cavalry oriented other African powers were either (or in Asia), would be nice to get non-cavalry civs!

More Archer civs please, break up the top spots a little! Same for water meta civs…

I remember Sandy Petersen talking about the Rajas civs and was surprised Khmer( or some other civ?) didn’t have water-oriented bonuses, since they beat the Malay(?) or w/e.

Yeah, it was the Khmers and he repeatedly mentioned how disappointed he was in them not getting any water bonus. The battle he refered to was against the Siamese I think.

I mean, your argument would make semse in a vacuum but what matters is the context which is that Europe has almost half the civs while being a fairly small place and back in the middle ages it is fair to say that it wasnt the place around which the world politics were organized unlike later. We kind of just want that the rest of the world gets a fair shot to show their own civs which they arent really getting since Europe is getting almost all the attention.

Also a lot of people think a lot of the latest additions to Europe were redundant.

Because they only have three civs each and havent gotten new content in a long time. Theres no fatigue for those continents.

That the rest of the workd gets the posibility of showcasing their own regional powers the same way Europe is able to.

Actually, it is better not to reveal tonight. That way we definitely won’t get Venice.

I wouldn’t really blame Forgotten Empires for that considering they expected this to be AoE2’s last update…

This seasonal event for Venice’s carnival needs to drop soon before the carnival itself ends. haha

The only have Friday left.

Looks like Sage is writing tomorrow. So annoying to wait.

i really don’t get why people hate the idea of some europe-related civs tbh

Because we had a lot of them lately and it wouldn’t hurt to get something else.

Especially that all big players in Europe have been done and we’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel with the latest additions to the Euro roster.

Because almost half the civs are European, 6 of the last 8 have been European, and other regions need love.

If it’s true were stuck with a hard cap of 48 civs it’s absolutely essential to grt some civs elsewhere for a change

…and even without a cap it wouldn’t hurt to be fair. Forgotten Empires really can’t say that they’ve done Europe dirty.

What if once the other regions would get some love too? Would be in my opinion a nice change.

It will be more DLC (I really hope), don’t buy the ones that have European civilizations

I’ll buy an Euro DLC eventually when they’re discounted and I know that I will do a small giveaway to my friends if the Porto DLC is what I hope an African/Indian/American or even Oceanian DLC. Won’t be the case if it’s more Euro bloat.

And yes, I really don’t care about getting Swiss in the game.

This is the real matter. Not exactly because of said cap, but rather because more than 45 or 50 civs needs either overlap bonuses with existing civs or going too crazy with their uniqueness. Both things harmful for the game imo.

That’s why we need to get out of Europe. Tamils, Jurchen, Georgians… There are higher priorities before any other european civ.

well i really do not give a whole lot about geographical origin of civs, i care more about how cool a civ is to play with cool bonuses, mechanics, units, and buildings and tech, but i can see why people from various parts of the globe would want to feel represented as well in the game so as long as they are made cool and unique to play, literally any civs could work for me
