Because of introduction to the game PUP program, we can now download beta patches. For some reason devs put in game data things like these in beta of June patch.
I just went to AoE II data after downloading a patch and looked for files added today.

That boar rider would make a great cheat unit.
I really hope there are more nice looking scenario units like the mounted tk.
That gave me an idea.
What if the devs introduced an Orcs civ, just for scenario maps, with very few units and buildings, but they were all original (Boar Riders, Club Infantry, Spear Grunts, Javelin Infantry, Axe Throwers and Catapults) as a reference to other RTS games of yesteryear, and the various fantasy settings taht powered the genre back then?
They would really only need like 10 buildings and a reduced Tech Tree, but would be funny to play in scenarios.
tahts better than add polynasians
No, no it would not be better. I meant a joke civ, as a reference to other RTS games (Warcraft, Battle for Midle Earth, KKnD…), only for scenarios, not for it to take a slot of an actual civ.
To be honest, Polynesians is a bad option, I would rather get just Tongans or just Samoans, than a blanket Polynesians.
Anything about the Dawn of the Dukes in game files?
Sadly, I couldn’t find anything related to Dawn of the Dukes. No signs of Czechs nor Poles. I tried to look at the file which contain all of the text in game, but still nothing. Before devs announced Lord of the West I found campaign files, but now completely nothing.
Hopefully we will get more informations soon.
Maybe they will come with the June update with those icons?
I totally understand developers’ concerns, but I think most people still wanna see more civs from other parts of the world and not just from Europe.
Ok but a lot of this is incorrect though. There have been kings in Asia, the Middle-East, Africa, for millenia. I haven’t made the count of how many there have been in each state or continent, but I’m not sure how you could claim that there have been more of them in Europe, especially given that Asia and the Middle-East got a headstart in that respect.
At the end of the day I just don’t think you can interpret the name “Age of Kings” as being supposed to refer mainly to Europe. They simply used a catch-all and widely recognized term for ruler that can be applied pretty much anywhere.
I think swgb had ewoks with few units,it might be a cool idea to have orcs but would it have an license issue with middle earth owners.
We are talking about the post-classicial period( I think this corresponds with medival age). In this time period most kings were in Europe I am pretty sure (we are not talking about kingdoms) Still I said that king is the only real title in Europe there is no other title really like Raja or Sultan.
Quote were I stated something incorrect.
These are the maps from RBW4, they probably added for the future empire wars map pool i guess.
The Viper and a BacT reference. Those two are my favs among the new profile pics.
Greenland looks like a lot of fun. The new maps look really interesting.
Back to Dawn of the Dukes, I know exactly what I’m going to play first. Bohemians on Bohemia 11
With all those updates and events, I have the impression that it’s Christmas four times a year 11
No it would not. They do not necessarily have to be from Middle Earth.
Orc is a generic term, nowadays.
As for every event - I do hope for thing like regional Monks. I mean, we got mod to change Mongol Houses to Yurts. I really wish we could already have for example Imam for Muslim factions.
Wait, so now a kingdom doesn’t necessarily have a king? How does that make sense?
Also do you have an actual count of European kings vs non-European kings? I can understand that you are more familiar with European kings than non-European kings, and so am I, but I wouldn’t draw a conclusion from it like that.
There are also other titles that have been in use in Europe: emperor, czar, there have even been dukes and grand-dukes that weren’t pledged to any king. Not to mention the titles used in the former Ottoman parts of Europe and Moorish Iberia.
makes sens if u read of morehistorie. poland was sometime kingsdom with dukes no king
If it has a duke but not a king, then it’s a duchy, not a kingdom. Pick up a dictionary.
Can native speakers tell me how the new UUs shoulds be pronounced correctly?
“Obuch” and “Houfnice” in particular.
