are we forbidden to think that way?
sorry.
never said it was. just trying to make it clear that donât push yourself on this occasion
The very steep angle is a result of poor FOV, geometry pop-in and excessive haze. You can clearly see that when you place your camera over a tall mountain. The lower the angle, the more you see into the horizon/distance, therefore the more stuff the game has to render properly. I think the devs were also worried about buildings obscuring units behind them. A steeper angle fixes that to an extent.
If you look closely when you zoom in/out, the camera doesnât move away in a straight line. It does this sort of curving motion, being at a lower, more pleasing angle when fully zoomed in and then becoming almost a drone perspective in the fully extended panoramic zoom.
Iâm getting used to it, but itâs definitively not perfect. That curving motion significantly reduces the effectiveness of zooming out because it âcropsâ the top side of the screen.
Yes, I have enjoyed this game from the start. Reviews from highly reputable sources have also backed up the premise that this was a quality game from the start. For anyone to imply that this game was not worth $60 USD from the start seems rather silly to me. I have purchased plenty of $60 games that I did not enjoy nearly as much as this one. In fact, I believe I purchased Age of Kings back in 1999 for $50 (~$89 in 2022) and didnât regret that purchase either.
I wouldnât have switched from AOE2 DE to this game if it didnât maintain my interest. Numbers go down for pretty much every game after the initial launch, this is a normal trend. Additionally, as many videos and articles have explained, the majority of AOE players who purchase this game only play single player. Single player campaigns eventually end.
Regardless, all of this unnecessary bashing is not healthy for any game that you wish to see thrive. There are far more productive ways to have a conversation about how you would like to see things change without needlessly turning off prospective players.
He is referring to the core game (I think) wich yes , itâs has been always good . Itâs not denial , itâs the truth
It is obvious that the game needed a lot of work , everyone knew this .
oh look whos back ![]()
@PlushyDawn45386 and many havenât. so youâre making comment based on your opinion, got it.
Donât be toxic. I can play the same game too . I just donât want .
(Since you guys like to flag abuse) Iâm just being nice , so hey , you should also be nice to people with different opinions
While I am very happy AoE IV is finding new love, letâs not get carried away by the Steam numbers, especially not so the âpeak playersâ metric.
The increase is a result of price adjustments in many countries where $60 was unrealistically expensive. So these are brand new players, not returning fans. Remember when the game launched? Those were new players too, and most of them are gone for good.
If the game doesnât do anything to keep these fresh new players glued in, 3 months from now weâll be back to ghost town. There have been patches and improvements all around, but the game is basically the same, content-wise.
So, good news for now, but the numbers should be taken with a grain of salt.
It is a little weird that they donât even have a moderator here that actually plays AoE4. And only ones that are pretty much always completely negative about the game in everything they say.
That doesnât answer my question, though if youâre saying you prefer the overhead view, it does show at least one person prefers it. The fact they made most of the video with a low camera angle suggests they thought it would be found more appealing. Iâm genuinely curious as to whether people watched that video and the majority hated the low camera angle and said that final overhead shot is better, and thatâs why they went with a much more overhead view for the game, or if most people do think a lower camera angle looks better and the game has a much more overhead view for other reasons.
They are critical, not negative. Letâs stop confusing those two things which are not the same.
They are both hopeful for the gameâs future, they donât want to see it crash and burn. I for one am very happy we have human moderators with thoughts and opinions and not mindless drones.
My point is they are ONLY critical. Which actually isnât even my main point which is that they donât actually play the game.
You donât think itâs at all strange in a forum for a game to only have moderators that actively dislike said game and express so in those forums on a regular basis since before the game released and donât actually even play the game?
Critical is fine. Iâve literally given Relic pages of things that needed fixed in feedback. Iâm not suggesting at all that people should just praise everything about the game all the time.
Oh please, whatâs the point of this comment? I did not say or imply that should be the case at all.
Also, to be clear Iâm not criticizing them for not liking or playing the game, Iâm actually not even criticizing them at all in this comment.
I feel fortunate that we have mods/community members who understand the franchise well enough to not be satisfied with what AoEIV is. And to be vocal about it. Itâs in our best interest imo.
So then tell us what do you want? Because Iâm sure nowhere in the moderators âjob requirementsâ it says that you must love the game and rain praise on it to become one.
Andy and RadiatingBlade are here to moderate, to bring people back on track when the threads get out of hand (like in this case, so this will be my last response). Whether or not they love, hate, play, donât play, praise or criticize the game is completely irrelevant when it comes to moderating a forum. They are AoE franchise fans and thatâs the only thing that matters.
We have plenty of non-moderators here, even folks who were part of the council who love the game, rarely (if ever) criticize it and contribute and post a lot. What difference does it make that they have/donât have a green banner around their username? Isnât having those other folks around not enough?
Maybe I see this as super normal being a routine user of car-related forums, but moderators are often the biggest critics of the cars they want or they already own and itâs a lot of fun because we can all relate. So, no. I donât think this is strange here.
Can you please stop already with the strawmen?
I have never said anyone shouldnât criticize the game. I have never said people should only praise the game. I have never said the game doesnât deserve criticism. I have never said criticizing the game disqualifies anyone from anything. I have never said everyone should like the game. I have never said everyone should play the game. I have criticized the game myself many times.
You are reading way too much into my comment.
I just pointed out it was strange that we only have moderators in the AoE4 forum that do not like and do not play AoE4 at all and donât have any that do. Thatâs it.
I remember that after this trailer people were saying that art/graphics were ok that they only needed to tweak contrast levels but after that game looked worseâŠ
FP POV is better. But hard to play.
To play I prefer panoramic(may be a little bit lower angle).
To watch streams - 2019 trailer is better⊠or just original angle with Zoom out.
Umm, yes, some of my statements are opinions while other are facts. That is how a forum works. Thank you Captain Obvious. This fact was never concealedâŠ
amazing news! forgotten empires done so much the last years for every aoe!
Hey the launch players had a good reason to leave , but these players? Honestly most of the bugs are gone and most of the issues at launch are not present again .
