AoE4 is having the best numbers in months

Please explain to me why people stick around and repeatedly post on forums for a game they genuinely do not enjoy? Don’t get me wrong, it is perfectly fine to not to like something, but why waste the time and energy posting about it? If I had a game that I did not enjoy, I would simply move on and find something else. In fact, that is what happened to me with AOM. I just did not like the game, but it’s not like the game was going to be rebuilt from the ground up just because it did not fit my vision of what the game should have been.

I can argue that, I don’t think age IV was made for age fans, age 2 fans are still playing age 3 the same…

Yes, luckily it looks like they will announce something at Gamescon…

True, they always do the same thing in video game trailers…the game looks super good there and then when you play it it looks terrible…cof cof watch dogs cof cof…

Share… I would add the redesign of the landsmarks that instead of having 10 in total and 2 per age…you have 5 well worked and that you can advance with any of them at any age as it happens with the Asian civs of aoe 3…

Because we are all going to be here longer than just aoe4. And also because I’m unable to let it go. I dunno why. Most people left. I guess I speak for them in a similar way as those who play the game and post here are also a small fraction of the active playerbase. We aoe4 critics are a small percentage of those who walked off. But our voices are necessary if this franchise will ever make something else.

I’m glad you enjoy the game. I don’t think my concerns have anything to do with feeling like a general. Their civs are a giant step backwards from AoM, aoe3, and AoEO. Same with the ui, the hotkeys, and the smoothness.

Because older AOE games are so well established and well known to players of the franchise, that people will not typically suddenly want to pick up a game they did not enjoy 10 or 20 years ago.
AOE4 however is a new game and there are a large amount of potential players, especially those who know the franchise, waiting for it to reach a more acceptable state (by their own standards).

But then there are some educated people on this forum who keep telling you all your expectations are not realistic (before they were actually implemented).

Edit: ironically after all the improvements which were not important at all according to someone (albeit slow) + a little more advertising, like a price reduction, you can see how the number grows.
The release and maintenance in the first few months really leave a generically bad impression, that will not be reverted by a few patch notes,l: But a price reduction makes people want to give it a second try and find out the improvements.

Makes me wonder what those educated people who keep preaching for the past months “the game is in a perfect state. Your demands are not important nor realistic. You cannot speak for the 70000 active players who enjoy the game” think about right now. Maybe another victory to celebrate.

People said the game was in a perfect state? News to me

Yeah but the point is that they don’t like it , for various reasons …

This is truth at some level because at 4v4 this is not the case and it’s always more viable to just build a wonder and defend it .

But yes wonders < sacred sites .

Honestly I like it this way . Since sacred sites are usually at an open space making difficult the walling .

Wonders can be placed anywhere so you have more choice on how to defend it .

Andy I never liked to respond you since you already stated you don’t feel joy playing so I thought debating would be a waste of time but , I actually brought some friends to the game and they seem to play it everyday now , this shows us that the game is in a complete different state than in launch and it’s actually enjoyable …

Hot keys are fully remappable in the exception on the ages menu at the UI .

The UI yes , it’s a bit of a shity shit but in the mean time the make another it’s enough to play .

I played since the beta and well the game was always fun and seemed like an aoe game for me but with new stuff .

Have you tried at coming back ?.?..

There was a piece of everything IMO , there were people who wanted less contrast and a LOT of people saying that they should COMPLETLY change the graphics .

I think this made a confusion for developers and they just tuned down everything and made the game just a thing for the gameplay .

Graphics are not bad , they just need a bit of work

Yeah nobody said the exact sentence. But feature 1 you want is not realistic. Feature 2 you want is not important. Feature 3 you want is a personal preference. Feature 4 you want is never a priority. Feature 5 you want has a very good reason not to be there. Feature 6 you want typically takes a year to implement. Feature 7 you want does not exist in COH so okay. Feature 8 you want is an personal attack on the developers. Feature 9 you want I do not know what to say but why do you stick on the forum if you hate the game so much? Feature 10 you want…okay but there are 1 million players on gamepass and 1 billion watching the game ob twitch.
Yeah but I’m definitely not saying the game was in a perfect state.

I mean, nobody said silly things like “feature 8 you want is a personal attack on the developers” either. Or that any of the features Relic have delivered on aren’t “realistic”.

Features are, by and large, mostly personal preference. That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be made, just that it’s up to Relic and World’s Edge to decide what comes before another. Like how we got the Season One features before the Season Two features, and so on.

The same goes for “priority”. Nobody here can determine priority - just personal preference. The developers decide the priority (by what they’re putting into the Seasonal updates), and the playerbase responds to that (positively or critically, whichever).

You seem to constantly reference things that boil down to “somebody disagreed with me on a web forum”. Yes, people are going to disagree with you. Your opinion isn’t factual, sorry. Nobody’s is. People will always disagree. With me, with you, with anybody. You don’t need to make things up that never happened, just learn to deal with disagreement better.

I got it. Because no one said “feature 8 you want is a personal attack on the developers” (the exact sentence), all the rest of the statements I listed here never existed either. Never.

I am actually more interested in how people deal with disagreements with themselves. Like the million posts that tell you the current zoom was fine, was great, was genius, was art, was good for you, after zoom is adjusted. I would be very surprised if they were not actively resisting that change. But it seems people just went from
“Why do you think your opinion is important?” to “They’ve already listened to you what else do you want to say?”

Don’t you realize that all this negativity on a public forum will likely impact the bottom line and make it less financially feasible for there to be another AOE? If your goal is to burn the house down simply because you do not like the color of the new kitchen cabinets, then you are doing a fine job.

Guess what there are some effective ways to counter those evil people who just want to burn down the game by posting on a forum:

  • Implement the basic and qol features that people are asking for
  • Reduce the price
  • Announce a DLC

If there is anything that would determine whether the next AOE is financially feasible, it is how they (meaning whoever is in charge of planning, designing, releasing the game, not necessarily R###c, not the actual developers) handled AOE4.

This forum has been a wonderful place for years and years without gatekeeping. I’ve been here for more than 10 years. I apologize if you think my voicing opinions is burning the place down. But if we are going to require players to shut up and get in line, then I’m not sure this forum is the place.

This forum is literally the exact place to post concerns about these games.

I mentioned some of the other alleged sentences, too.

You don’t seem to understand that if you say people said X, and people didn’t say X, that makes you wrong. Just like if I made up something about you, that would be wrong. Everyone makes mistakes, just like I’ve made mistakes jumping to conclusions before. But if you make something up and people call you on it, making up a new claim isn’t the best way of dealing with being wrong.

The default zoom setting is fine for me. That said, I never opposed them adding more options, and the panoramic option does just that. Seems to be making people happy, too.

And yeah, I still like the art style. I’m aware others don’t. This isn’t controversial.

I hope to install again once there is a civ that feels interesting to me. I don’t need to try a ninth civ with the exact same units in the exact same buildings (men-at-arms, bowmen, horsemen, same siege, same kinds of ships, etc.).
