Auto Wall fort next ! 11
I agree, we don’t want a game with a reduced progression curve. It’s not interesting, AoE 3 and 4 are not interesting. This is why they have no or very few players compared to AoE2. Listen to the numbers and think for 3 seconds, developer friends! Please!
We already have auto villagers on Xbox, why not add it as an optional feature to the PC version of AoE2 too?
Ok added to the list of things why AoE3/AoE4 are worse then AoE2:
- It’s not enough pain and suffering to learn to play AoE3/AoE4
But in all seriousness, perfect farms are not really all that important.
After Hand Cart it doesn’t really matter how well your farms are placed.
Making perfect farms actually doesn’t make a you a better player, it is just something that annoys many people.
It’s more a visual thing that actual gameplay. It just looks nice and doesn’t feel as wrong when they are perfectly placed.
When you use a Xbox Controller I think yes it’s normal but not with a keyboard.
So PUP note messed up things.
True. But to me it feels like the primary target is BE as it got cost reduction.
Thanks for the idea. Otto villager que can be toggled on/off from TC. This feature will be added in 25 th year anniversary patch in September 2024.
Why not allow it for keyboard players?
I mean I can go an literally type in a cheat to give me 10k or each resource and a cool car that shoots bullets, why can’t I enable auto economy?
Why not give us the option? Not going to hurt anyone.
No one wants cheats or the handicap system to be replaced form the game either, right?
I think as long as the auto one has significantly lower efficiency than manual one, it is acceptable.
Why does it have to, it just has to be disabled in ranked.
Handicap is better then no handicap therefor it’s obviously not allowed in ranked.
You are overreacting about the impact of auto-farm placement. This doesn’t make the game “easy”… but make it more confortable and pleasent to play.
That’s the point, if the game is more “confortable” so he is more easy
I think a lot of player want to keep the competitiveness of the game.
Farm placement is an irrelevant skill (hence the best players just laying them haphazardly). It’s not as important as pretty much everything else.
An auto farm placement is fine.
Age of Mythology has auto-queue. And it’s available at (practically) every building and for every civ (even Norse who have two types of villagers and ox carts, making auto-queuing villagers not always ideal).
Honestly, I would be perfectly happy with an auto-queue added to the game. It doesn’t change anything fundamental to the game. Also won’t change the competitive aspect to the game. Like auto-seeding farms, it just makes the game easier to play (and using it sometimes won’t be optimal).
Four years ago I made a thread requesting for the same feature.
I did some calculations for how this affects melee attacks against generic heavy scorpions. Some civs (Teutons, Celts) will be able to get higher numbers due to a UT.
melee attack | old # hits | new # hits |
---|---|---|
3 | 19 | 30 |
4 | 14 | 20 |
5 | 11 | 15 |
6 | 10 | 12 |
7 | 8 | 10 |
8 | 7 | 9 |
9 | 7 | 8 |
10 | 6 | 7 |
11 | 5 | 6 |
12 | 5 | 6 |
13 | 5 | 5 |
14 | 4 | 5 |
15 | 4 | 5 |
16 | 4 | 4 |
17 | 4 | 4 |
18 | 4 | 4 |
19 | 3 | 4 |
20 | 3 | 4 |
21 | 3 | 3 |
22 | 3 | 3 |
23 | 3 | 3 |
24 | 3 | 3 |
25 | 3 | 3 |
Yeah, Teuton Scorpions in particular will be pretty interesting. 5 melee armor now; 8->10 attacks from light cav is pretty meaningful. 10->12 for Halbs is also pretty impressive.
They’ll still be hard countered by other types of siege, but now those other types will be more mandatory. Seems they’re focusing on making scorpions more of an anti-trash specialist.
i feel that they shoudl still have scorpion take a tiny bit less damage from onager/bbc to not be counter as hard, evne something like -5 damage is good can start with something small
Because a PC is a PC and an Xbox is an Xbox.
If they want to bring console ‘do-everything-for-you automation and convenience due to the limitations of using a controller on an Xbox from your couch’ to something, then make a cell phone version of the game and do it there.
I knew launching it on a console… Xbox… would result in a slow polluting and dilution of the PC version of the game. I was cautiously optimistic it wouldn’t, but deep down knew it probably would.
Might as well just add an Xbox mode to the PC version, porting the Xbox experience completely to PC, so you can use your controller on PC and cease development for PC keyboard/mouse users. That way, all future development can just focus on one platform, the one that opens the game up to every demographic possible: Xbox. I’m sure that certainly wouldn’t dilute the game
I think AoE Online and Castle Siege are no longer with us for a reason. They heavily mimic, play like, and look like console/mobile games. If they want AoE2:DE to suffer the same fate, then by all means, keep consolizing AoE2:DE. Just please fix a few bugs in AoE2:HD so we can all go back to that
You think adding an optional feature (not available in ranked) to a game that already has things like handicap more or cheats build in would ruin it?
How?
I mean there is already an auto everything mode in the game, did you know that?
You can just set your player to AI and the AI will do everything for you. You can just lean back and watch.
Does this mode destroy AoE2? No. Most people probably don’t even know that this is possible.
But there are always people that hate on everything that makes the game more playable. They want to keep all the obstacles in place because they learned to overcome them. They want to feel better then others because they mastered all the annoying aspects of the game and feel like their hard earned skills suddenly become useless once those obstacles are removed in the game.
There where people that said Starcraft 2 would fail because you can select more then 12 units at once. Only being able to control such small groups of units requires skill, of course. But does that mean it’s always a good thing and always has to stay.
I think there is a relatively large portion of the AoE2 player base that likes battles and doesn’t really care about doing all the economy stuff.
I mean that should be kinda obvious, shouldn’t it?
So why not give those people the option to automate the economy?
I think I need to repeat that again, and probably a few hundred more times in the future:
Not for ranked
So there is nothing to worry about.
No one is going to beat you in a 1v1 because they used auto economy.
And even if it was available in ranked, if you lose against someone using auto economy you are probably not all that good in the game in the fist place.
If they add auto-training units, it will be for every building, it will not be optional, and ranked will not be excluded. And both options will coexist, like the farm reseeds in the Mill.
Personally, I’m positive towards such a development. It will free us from all those clicks to order units again and again, to do something else that will matter more, like performing tactics with our army. Also, we’ll still have to manage our economy, as we should, in order to keep our enabled production lines running.
Auto-villagers please!!!
