Plus being shock infantry they could really use a snare and speed (spy levels maybe) once you get the wonder and more decent stats like Spanish dogs…
Because then they look like spearmen. It’s an extremely bad idea to have shock infantry with a polearm and stance identical to units that have the opposite role.

Even better! Then give them a multiplier vs cavalry. Kinda like mini Cheyenne and China could reaaaally use more anticav alternatives
That doesn’t solve the problem of light infantry being ripped apart by a unit that looks like heavy infantry.

if you give them polearms and they look like pikes, they are going to be pikes, you dont get to keep the old tags.
You can make them heavy infantry if you want

Honestly given their low stats you might as well make them special pikemen. Unupgraded Spanish dogs kill even White Pagoda disciples

Honestly one of the few units that looks better in AoE 4 than 3. Made obvious by the pictures side to side
They could use some sword. TAD civs are based on exoptism, not on reality… China? Lets give them Kung Fu warriors because they look cool… they should had changed that on aoe3 de release

I’m guessing that’s how most of the Asian Dynasty civs were created - just some guys finding the quirkiest units they could find ( I mean that is most of China right away!)
