I updated windows and the problem seems to be fixed to me.
Alright, everyone! This is still something we are attempting to narrow down to its definite causes. Here’s what I need from you if you are reliably experiencing this issue:
- The type of Router you are using. Many people provided their on-board computer specifications, but I need the actual router you are using. Please include a link to the item or store so we can confirm the details.
- If you are not using a Router: the type of Modem into which you are hard-wired. This may be a Netgear or another modem. Please include a link to the item or store so we can confirm the details.
- [Even if you provided it before] Your Internet Provider and the Country where you live. This is more of a reference point than anything, but I want to be 100% sure that the team has this information in case it is needed.
As an example:
- Router: Nighthawk AC1900 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 5 Router
- Modem: AC1900-High Speed Cable Modem Router
- ISP: Comcast, USA
I know this will be redundant for some of you, but I would like to ensure that I have as much (and as accurate) information as possible so we can try to trace a pattern. As of now, the issue seems to be related to the routers people are using—particularly since most people who have “upgraded” to a new router have reported that it fixed the issue.
Thank you for your ongoing assistance in working through this problem; I know it is frustrating, and can assure you that we are doing everything we can to reliably reproduce and diagnose the issue internally. The sooner you can get me this information, the easier it will be for me to compile it for our engineers.
Hi GMEvangelos,
Thank you for looking into this, really appreciate that.
Just as a sidenote, I had this issue when I was just using a hard-wired modem on my PC. Now I have a router wired to that same modem, and the disconnect situation hasn’t changed despite the new setup.
See the model names of my current setup below:
Router: TP-Link Archer C7 AC1750 ver. 5.0
Modem: Sagecom F@st 3890 v2 NET (this modem came for free with my ISP)
ISP: Claro NET, Brazil
I did double check both the router and the modem and made sure the firewall of both of them is disabled.
Hope this helps with the investigation, because I’m eager to play some ranked games without VPN services.
I play with 2 devices:
-
This is a point-to-point link Internet (ie. using an antenna), it has some little lag but nothing problematic. But the last days I had 2 disconnections out of ~25 matches. Never had problems before
Router: TP-LINK TL -WR820N (using wired or WiFi doesn’t matter)
ISP: LG Comunicaciones (not the big LG, it’s just a little ISP from here), Argentina -
This is using my 4G cellphone in tethering mode. Before the update I had zero problems, with the february update I started having disconnections on every match. After the hotfix I had only one match without disconnections, every other one disconnected after ~5 minutes.
“Router”/smartphone: Xiaomi Redmi 6A
ISP: Tuenti, Argentina
Router: Asus DSL-N16 ( this is a router/modem )
ISP: Origin
Country UK
Modem/Router: Humax HGB10R-02
ISP: Claro NET
Country: Brazil
I use Fiber-Optic " media converter-http://kabeli.eu/upload/MC.pdf"
ISP: Bergon Internet Ltd.
Country: Bulgaria
Router and Modem: ONU GPON AN5506-04-FA
ISP: Brisanet
Country: Brazil
I am experiencing a similar condition. Game has lag spikes where my game seems to freeze whilst for other players its running smoothly. after a few seconds, its “speeds up” and I catch up. However at 5 mins it freezes and shuts down completely.

Modem: tp-link TLWR940N

Thank you all for taking the time to submit your Router and ISP information thus far—especially to those of you including links, since there are a lot of variants out there. I have compiled all of your responses into an extensive report for our team.
PLEASE KEEP IT COMING! I will continue to collect and report information as it is sent my way, including any solutions you find as you continue to test with your router and network settings. I will also be reporting back here with anything I learn.
Router: Cisco DPC3848VE

Ethernet
First router: Zyxel
Second router: D-link
ISP: Centrio, Czech Republic
I played a whole game with a friend yesterday. In 90% of cases, the game crashes after 5 minutes
Problem solved with a VPN, but that shouldn’t be a solution…
Hi guys, ive got the same issue, everytime i play multiplayer, it keeps disconnecting in prox 5 minutes…
tried wifi tried wired, same thing…
BUT
i took my laptop somewhere else, and it was working properly, so im pretty sure its not game issue or not my laptop settings or driver…
it has to be my provider, or modem settings.
i tried 2 other places, and it was working fine, only disconnect at home
im not an expert,
i did not change anything on my laptop and it was ok, so if anyone knows about modem settings, any idea would be very nice.
im using vodafone home broadband ireland.
thanks
