Disconnect after few minutes playing multiplayer (Problem persists after update)

You need to “press” reply to GMEvangelos post - and give him the system information he requires.

Go to his post, reply with:

  • What Network Hardware are you using?
  • What ISP do you use?
  • In what region are you connecting to the game?
  • Are you using a VPN?
  • Any other information about your networking that might help the team

If you do that you will help them and all of us out  Its also intresting to note that the problem isnt concistent, it happens often - but not all the time! I’d say 50% of the games or so the disconnect happens.

After having hope after the first two games not disconnecting, the third disconnected after the typical 4:30 minutes. Will post further details later

There has been a hotfix. Is that it? Guys, are you still experiencing DC issues?

been playing all day, no problems

Thanks for the reports thus far! I’ve escalated all the information to the team! Keep it coming; the more information we can learn about this issue, the easier it will be to narrow down a cause. (If you feel comfortable sharing a copy of your dxdiag, as well, please feel free to attach it to your post!)

Thanks all!

Just tried to play my very first 2 ranked games. Both disconnects. One happened approximately 20 mins in (using ingame normal[1.7] time) the second happened 10 mins in.

  1. Yes, “you have been disconnected from the network. Please check your connection and try again”. Even though the internet was working completely fine on my end throughout.
  2. Really not sure how to check if this is right but "Intel® Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V
  3. Xfinity Comcast
  4. West US
  5. No
  6. I am using an ethernet bridge. I will be trying again using my wireless network and will report on any changes. I play other online games (World of Warcraft, League of legends) with no problems. Checked the stability of my connection, it’s very good.

Edit: Just tried again on WiFi… still disconnected. At the 36min mark this time. So far that’s 3 disconnects in 3 total ranked games. Will try a multipayer lobby game and see if I have any more luck.

Edit2: Tried reinstalling the game. Played 1 ranked game. Everything was smooth and then, just like before, it abruptly disconnected. 20 min mark this time. So far 4 total games played and 4 disconnects. RIP my ELO.

Dae, cara… minhas configs são quase iguais às tuas. Depois das atualizações tu conseguiu jogar? Eu não consegui nada. Ah, também sou de SC.

I once again really want to thank the DE team for overlooking this major issue with MP game connectivity.

I wanted to recommend that this forum thread is pinned in the bug forum to -> "[Known Issue:]"

I also wanted to recommend to get this issue listed here on the official issue page: https://www.ageofempires.com/support/aoe2/aoe2-issues/

That will make the visibility of the issue more clear to people that wants to report it and avoid confusion about them believing there something wrong with their hardware.

Kind regards

This issue really sucks. I’ve had it since I joined a beta sometime in October. I’ve only played a single multiplayer game to completion in this entire time.
I suppose I’ll gather some technical data about my network hardware and post that. I’ve also got recorded games, but I assume you don’t need those.

Same problem here. Devs are apparently ignoring it. Probably going to return the game on steam at this point. I have a 1gbit wired LAN connection. Also doesn’t work on wifi.
