[DLC concept] The Wealth of India (Bengalis & Tamils)

not sure i like this in the era of quick walls and how strong defenses are.

this would probably be too strong on its own and should probably be staggered like 5/10/15% in feudal/castle/imp)

imho this is better for a cav civ.

pretty weak eco bonus honestly.

This is my idea originally
Anyway it adds diversity to the civi and sort of represent getting conquered by a cavalry civi.

Third Draft for the Bengals Civilization:

Archer Civilization

  • Pallisade walls and pallisade gates are built 50% faster.
(Many forts including temporary mud walled forts were built)
  • Archery range units move 5%/10%/15% faster in Feudal/Castle/Imperial Age
(Know the landscape well in a riverine country, better navigation)
  • Fletching and crossbowman upgrades are free
  • Universities and Monasteries cost 75 less Wood.
(A lot of universities and temples/mosques were built by the rulers)

Unique Unit: Paik (Archer)
Archer with attack bonus vs siege weapons. Takes 50% less damage from Siege weapons. (+3 bonus for Paik/+5 bonus for Elite Paik)

Unique Techs:

  • Ivory Trade: Dead battle elephants return 30% of their gold cost

@SDBarman I like the bonus about dead battle elephants returning 30% of their gold cost (don’t know if they traded with ivory though). Fletching and xbow upgrade free is too strong for archer rush. Should Bengalis be a dedicated archer civ at all? So far, I didn’t find much information in this direction, but I am not an expert (and not even from the Indian subcontinent).

In case the civ bonuses of Poles and Bohemians are identical to some proposed here, I will update the concept.

This seems like too much trouble for resources you have to build a new building and train new units too.

I have the feeling an Indian DLC is very likely

At least I’ll design the Bengal custom campaign regardless, just need a balanced Civ for that and thanks all of you for such care and support.

Indian DLC, unlikely unless they don’t care about sale numbers. But one further new Indian civ I surely see happen, perhaps in an Asian-themed expansion.

A bit weird for a siege civ to lack Elite Cannon gaelleons …

Is it really? Celts and Mongols dont have it and neither do Ethiopians

Oh , okay nvm [char lim]

I think Bengals being an Archer civ is wrong. Correct me if I wrong, Bengals never used xbow. Elephant & Gunpowder civ will be the best representation of the civ with a bit focus on navy, monk and university.

Xbow is just the archer line upgrade we have meso civis and others who would not use them.

But that’s just an indicator for not being a good archer civ. Just because we have Mayans is one of the best if not the best archer civ in game which is completely opposite of realistic history, doesn’t mean we can add more stuffs like that.

What about Britons having some of the best arbs in the game?

Actually they did… i saw it in museum

Following the release of Dawn of the Dukes, I updated the civ designs, especially the Bengalis, while I’m still looking for improvements for Tamils.
Perhaps some of you guys know a bit or two about those two civs:

  • Did Bengalis ever use Camel Riders?
  • What should be Tamils’ main focus? Is infantry and navy adequate?
  • Are the proposed UUs iconic enough?
  • And what do you think about the campaign concepts?

Pretty sure the tropical climate is bad for camels.

Yes they were a huge sea empire and had a huge population.

Nope.

Navy for sure. I’m not sure about land army. I heard they had good cavalry.
