Does AOE Def. being exclusively on Windows 10 upset you?

This is the only bad news about definitive edition and to me it’s a huge mistake because we have a chance to bring every players in the world in only one server with a big hype.
Example with a big existing community : do you think Vietnamese people have W10 ? Will they change to W10 ? Probably not.
Do you think someone who just want to try AoE:DE will change to W10 in order to play ?
I’m a big fan of AoE and I play on W7. If i wasn’t a big fan, I would not probably get W10.

I’m pettry sure they don’t care people that can’t access to win10 or don’t want.

Ms is focus in their business and they services.
You don’t have Win10 or don’t want use Store, fine, but you aren’t going to play.

Probably after release this can be The reality, the sales are a plus for them not the main reasons.

They don’t want share their market with steam or want their competitor still grown.

It doesn’t upset me because I have a Windows 10 computer, but I do wish It would be available for macOS because I do plan to get a MacBook Pro in the future.

No because I can share the license with my family unlike Steam which kicks you out once someone accesses a game on your account.

That doesn’t mean I still really like Windows Store and UWP. I wonder how modding will work in this version.

well that sucks… i run windows 7 on everything… and plan to keep doing so for a long time.

No, I am glad they made it Windows 10.

As a programmer myself I can see why they did it. Why develop for an older OS? Sure, they may still support it, but it doesn’t mean they have to release new applications or games for it.

The only way to get people to ditch old outdated crap is to stop developing for it.

Yes, a bit.
I was hopping that could work on Linux/MacOS.
I have no idea if the game was rebuilt or which technologies they used(C++ or .C#), but considering that Microsoft already has .NET running in Linux/MacOS it would be amazing for them to to start making games that are compatible with other OS’s.

Microsoft isn’t interested in share their business. Pc gaming is part of this cake.

That it runs on w10 only is fine by me, and where it belongs, but the windows store thing… Ridiculous and should be forbidden.

More like disappointed. I have Windows 10 license comes with my laptop so it’s fine by me, but most of my friends doesn’t. Their laptops and pcs mostly use Windows 7 or even Windows xp so it’d be almost inpossible for us to play the new edition together.
Guess we’d need to stick with AoE: Rise of Rome.

Why forbidden?

I prefer that it is Windows 10 only. This way the developers can use the most advanced technologies. They do not have to compromise. Also, they do not have to waste development time on support for multiple operating systems.

Upset is the wrong word to use, I prefer disappointed.

Reason being is personal preference: I like to keep all my games in one place. That place is Steam.

Yeah… I’m one of “them”.

I can see a reason for wanting to promote a Microsoft exclusive to try and keep money from being sunk into competitors… But in full honesty, I’m not a gamer that cares about any Microsoft Store variation you may come up with - I want Age of Empire:DE, and I want it on Steam.

Submit yourselves to the Valve Monoploy… Submit!

It doesn’t disappoint me in and of itself, but I hope that in future if they decide to release on other systems and distributors, they will honour win 10 purchases. It is lousy to have to repurchase something on steam in order to get steam benefits,

Microsoft isn’t interesting in share their gaming enviroment to other, systems, you must try think like a corporation.they sells services, not games itself.

Not upset, but probably there are people who is not able to have a computer with exactly windows 10, is just jot fair, I think. The real point is not the quality, is the fun of playing AOE, or meeting cool people no matter where they are or were did they come from c: (online)

Why would you need the newest OS for an old Game basically makes no sense, I’ve been enjoying this series since 97  and to see the OG make a return made me really happy, until I saw ‘‘windows 10 exclusive’’… I won’t get a new PC just cause of this game…

No if it actually makes use of full Windows 10 features.

I think the W10-only idea is opposite of the open-Microsoft moves under Nadella and the vision of MFCF, on any platform.

Yes but they need maintain live the store, thing is why they want rushed the things with Win10.
