The European train has the year the original game was released (2005) written on it.
It can be seen in 2 parts, on the coal wagon and on the locomotive (very small, and Iām not sure if it also says ā2005ā).
Someone with better graphics than me can surely distinguish better.

Is there any chance the new Forty-Seven Ronins card is a reference to the movie with Keanu Reeves?
Thatās also a historic event, so it might not be a reference to the movie at all.

It was made for the Comanche Lancer, a scrapped unit. Its art got updated for the Definitive Edition and sat in the files unused until the devs dug it out and put it somewhere visible. This is the Legacy version:

Yeah it seems that when they made DE they just ripped and dumped all the assets from the original onto the artists, even the unused ones.
They even remastered the unused Age 1 Musketeer model.
Considering that itās a famous historic event Iām pretty sure it is.
Maybe just letting the team redo everything is far more efficient than picking out by hand what is needed and what is not.
