Now I played some matches with the new buff elepahnts.
Actually they are not bad. The biggest problem is to get a good amount number of this elephant archer.
But if you have 40 of this elephants, they are really massy and you can even destroy buildings with them. You cannot counter them with pikes or skirms because they are too tanky.
The strongest counter would be siege onager but they are expensive too.
In the mid game you will struggle a lot with them because they are too slow and you cannot produce enough of them but post imperial age they are amazing and good alternatives too imperial camels.

You state someone’s first initial reaction to the patch as definite proof that the buff isn’t enough?
Give it some time, some gameplay, then we can see how good the buff is or not.

Hera can be hyperbolic at times. I wouldn’t take his first impressions on anything about game balance just because he’s the second best player in the world. Remember when Plumed Archers suddenly “became” garbage units because of their increased cost? I remember. I’ll wait to see what they look like in game, rather than seeing what they look like on paper.

I Still think Viper is better then Yo. Yo got he better of Viper in one tournament, that is setup in such a way that it prefers Yos playstyle over Viper. On the other hand, Viper has literally won almost every big tournament for how long now?
Mad respect to Yo though for pulling that off.

i would definitely put him at number 2. yeah hera has been to more finals recently but hera hasn’t had to play Yo that much this year in tourneys, and hera keeps getting wrecked by viper. at least yo puts up a fight

and what was your claim you wanted? it to be above the F tier?

when you compare it to the highest rank unit in Heras list in the D Tier, the ballista elephant, the Elephant Archer is better.
it has higher dps, more hp, and costs less.
oh. and still waiting for you to show me an elephant unique unit that sees regular play.

why do you bother arguing with him? he clearly won’t take no for an answer and his argument doesnt base off of logic but rather from authority. authority which is called “top players”. especially the top player he kept on using “Hera” havent really play with EA.
not saying Hera is bad, he is good at the game and if you break it down, theres probably like over 20 things to be good at in this game and you’ll need to excel at most of them to be good overall.
one of those is balance and using EA which he is not his fort, so @Parthnan, your argument is invalid. as for what Viper says he does use EA and with this new buff he can re-evaluate again.

I agree that I trust top players the most out of anyone on balancing
But I certainly do not think it is good to “not bother arguing” with someone who disagrees with you and @MatCauthon3 etc.
Someone who respects the experience of PROs and wants to use it for Balancing
Varying opinions should be allowed and cherished, as that is the basis of discussion
And I am only one who is acting as a vehicle for the Pros opinions on this forum, as I support pro opinions on balancing.
the same pros who if you listened too would trash whats left of Mayans ability to fight goths?
@Parthnan, allow me to give you one advice based on my experencie in other forums.
It is advisable to wait one or two weeks in order to make conclusions of a patch. Pro players need testing, forums user need discussing calmy and even the data in sites like aoestats.io can be biased the first days after a patch.
It is common for pros to aknowledge they missjudged a patch after one month. Same for all of us.
Having said so, i would ask you to switch the point of your threads after a patch: instead of claiming having the proof (bases on pro opinions), better post a thread about discuss the pro and users opinions of the patch. People would come to the thread in a more friendly attitude because noone have the truth one day after a patch.
(Sorry in case i sounded rude, english is not my first language)
Regarding the changes to elephant archers, i think is a good change at least for teamgames

It is @MatCauthon3 himself who pointed out how SoTL doesn’t actually understand practical in-game situations as well as most other streamers (let alone pro players). I saw SoTL video right when it came out. But it holds much less weight than those whose bread is on the line for practical performance using these units.
He is a theorist and he generally relies on highly hypothetical or situational testing.
I love how minutes before this, @MatCauthon3 sent me a pv and said you will say SOTL isn’t a pro while you used his own opinion on Keshik.

No i didnt use SoTL OPINION I used his test only as a theoretical situation
There is a big difference.
PROs opinions hold weight while, SOTLs theory holds weight only when backed by visual testing.
To each their strengths.
PROs do not need to prove what they say for balancing. They have shown they are able to optimize game decisions. But SoTL needs to prove.
