European Civ DLC

I propose to create a DLC focused on Europe:

  • 4 new civilizations - Poles, Danubians, Italians, Danes

  • Lots of new maps (new animals, trees etc)

  • New Minor Nations - Scots, Swiss, Albanians, Finns, Bavarians and more (these would be small towns)

  • More revolutions (only European revolutions on European maps)

  • New Campaigns and Historical Battles

  • A unique look for every rev Home City

  • New Units, Guardians, Treasures and more

  • Unique Age up for Germans & Italians - Similar to USA Age up but better balanced

  • And lots more fresh stuff

i think they should have the danubians/austria-hungary as an age up option for the HRE, but i agree with the rest

especially the minor nations would be very cool (i would change finns to Sámi, since they are already a revolution)

Poles

Home City

Capital - Cracow
Personality - Sigismund II Augustus or Sigismund III Vasa

Units

Barracks

Pikeman
Cossack Archer - archer. It is trained in groups (5 Units simultaneously). Instead of Crossbowman
Musketeer (Royal Guard)
Skirmisher

Stable

Uhlan
Winged Hussar - heavy cavalry with a lance. Using saber in hand-to-hand combat
Cavalry Archer (Royal Guard)
Pancerny - medium-cavalryman with flintlock pistol. Use Horseman’s pick in hand-to-hand combat

Artillery Foundry

Grenadier
Culverin
Petard
Mortar
Horse Artillery

Unique Features

Szlachcic is a hero (cavalery unit, can train a Hussar. 3 limit.).

The villagers are weak, but quicker to train.

Combined cards for Villagers and economic buildings form the Home City.
For example Age 1 is Market Wagon plus 3 Villagers.

They have a new building - Folwark (combination of the Farm and Livestock Pen).

As an elective monarchy they get completely unique politicians.

Skirmisher and Cavalry Archer have upgrade (royal guard):

Musketeer - Crown Infantry
Cavalry Archer - Lisowczyk

Potential polish civ should also have poor artillery, and quite weak infantry, but powerfull cavalry.

Danubians

Home City

Capital - Vienna
Personality - Maria Theresa von Habsburg

Units

Barracks

Pikeman
Pandurs - ranged light gunpowder infantry. They would use Yatagan in hand-to-hand combat
Crossbowman
Musketeer (Royal Guard)
Jaeger (unlock with Home City Card)

Stable

War Wagon (unlock with Home City Card)
Uhlan (unlock with Home City Card)
Hungarian Hussars
Dragoon (Royal Guard)

Artillery Foundry

Grenadier
Culverin
Falconet
Petard
Mortar
Horse Artillery

Unique Features

Grenzer - Austrians have a unique counterpart to Militiaman. He loses HP, but only to 75% HP. They train in groups of 5. They can also be summoned in the Outpost and in the Fort (up to two times per building).

They age up by dynastic marriages. For example:
Age II:

  • Spanish Princess: Ships 200 Coin + War Dog (Explorer can be trained)
  • French Princess: Ships 3 Coureur des Bois + The Explorer can use Hot Air Baloon
  • Dutch Princess: Bank Wagon + 2 semi-fattened Cows

Hofrat is a Danubians hero. Can train Jaeger (after using the appropriate Home City Card). Has a Big Button “Abolition of Serfdom”.

They have a new building - Rathaus (equivalent of the Capitol). Can train a Hofrats.

“Abolition of Serfdom” - Big Button for Danubian hero - Hofrat. This ability allows you to take over enemy buildings.

Musketeer and Dragoon have upgrade (royal guard):

Musketeer - Kaiserliche Musketiere
Dragoon - k.u.k. Dragoner

Danes

Home City

Capital - Copenhagen
Personality - Christian IV of Denmark

Units

Barracks

Pikeman
Crossbowman
Friskytte - weak skirmisher. Similar to Strelet
Musketeer (Royal Guard)
Skirmisher

Stable

Hussar
Jutlander - unique Danish Dragoon with more HP and a strong melee attack

Artillery Foundry

Grenadier (Royal Guard)
Culverin
Falconet
Petard
Mortar

Unique Features

Caravel replaced by KanonbĂĄd.
KanonbĂĄd are forward firing rowboats that quickly can engage enemy, very cheap to produce but with less HP than the caravel.

Gunboat - Unique for Danes, light warship carrying a cannon. It would look like a Flat-bottomed Boat with cannon. Two characters would row. And the other two characters would operate the cannon.

Ships at Docks are trained in groups e.g.:
5x Fishing Boats,
3x KanonbĂĄd,
2x Galleon,
3x Gunboat,
1x Frigate + 2x KanonbĂĄd,
1x Monitor + 2x KanonbĂĄd

They train longer but are cheaper than other civs. Ships at Danes have no build limit.

Musketeer and Grenadier have upgrade (royal guard):

Musketeer - Landsoldat
Grenadier - Fodgarden

Italians

Home City

Capital - Rome
Personality - Victor Emmanuel II of Italy

Units

Barracks

Pikeman (Royal Guard)
Halberdier
Crossbowman
Musketeer
Bersaglieri - high-mobility light infantry. Bersaglieri acted as skirmishers

Stable

Dragoon
Elmeti - it will become the UU for Italians. He will no longer be a Mercenary
Carabinieri - similar to US Carbine Cavalry (Royal Guard)

Artillery Foundry

Grenadier
Culverin
Falconet
Petard
Mortar

Unique Features

Each shipment additionally gives you a one crate of random resource (food, wood, coin or experience).

Settlers build buildings faster.

Market and Docks are half the price.

Unique Age up mechanic (instead of choosing politicians). The Germans would have similar.

Pikeman and Carabinieri have upgrade (royal guard):

Pikeman - Picchieri Imperiali
Carabinieri - Carabinieri Imperiali

Yes but it could be too OP.

Not more than Sweden/USA/France already are

If anything this should be the strongest unit anyway

Austrians is better. In my country Danubians is unknown term. I guess the same is true for the rest of the world

My other idea is a history-based function unique to Poles

"Folwark System"
Production <Folwark <Dworek

Dworek - manor house of Polish nobility
It would be a building without which Folwark’s cannot be built. You could train and upgrade Szlachcic in it and increase the limit of Dworek’s through upgrades. There are three Folwark’s per Dworek. Without upgrades, you can only build one Dworek at the start.

First upgrade: +1 to the limit for building Dworek’s
Second upgrade: +1 to the limit for building Dworek’s
The third upgrade: +2 to the limit for building Dworek’s

With all upgrades, we can have 5 Dworek’s and a maximum of 15 Folwark’s.

Szlachcic
Polish hero horse unit with a mace. Can build Trading Post and Town Center. Can train Winged Hussars by using the Home City card. Limit one per Dworek. In its vicinity, Settlers move and work slightly more efficiently than a normal Settler - Polish Settlers have weaker stats than the rest, but they are still the same unit and use the same model as the Russians and Germans. The presence of the Szlachcic improves their effectiveness, and even makes them slightly better than the rest of the Settlers.

Folwark
Merger of Mill with Livestock Pen and Estate. Initially there would be a limit of 3 Folwark’s. It could switch production (food or gold) and feed livestock at the same time.

Dworek

In this graphic, the number 5 is the Dworek, and the surrounding buildings are farm buildings.

My other idea is a history-based function unique to Danubians

"Habsburg Administration"
"Abolition of Serfdom"<Hofrat<Rathaus

Rathaus is the Danubian equivalent of the Capitol. It differs in that it can train a Unique Unit - Hofrat.

The Hofrat is a hero unit, unique to the Danubians. Danubians start with one Hofrat. Can be trained only at the Rathaus. Training limit is 5. This unit use saber, and flintlock pistol. Can build Trading Post, Town Center and Outpost. When he is nearby, the enemy banks produce coins for the Danubians. Enemy Settlers in his vicinity collect resources for the Danubians. Can train Hungarian Hussars (after using the appropriate Home City Card). Has a Big Button “Abolition of Serfdom”.

"Abolition of Serfdom" - Big Button for Danubian hero - Hofrat. This ability allows you to take over enemy buildings (except Forts). It can take over the building along with the units hidden in it, e.g. the Town Center with the Settlers inside.

Yes, but I wanted to use a name that wasn’t commented on as “another Germans civ”.

The realm’s official name was in German: Österreichisch-Ungarische Monarchie and in Hungarian: Osztrák–Magyar Monarchia (English: Austro-Hungarian Monarchy), though in international relations Austria–Hungary was used (German: Österreich-Ungarn; Hungarian: Ausztria-Magyarország). The Austrians also used the names k. u. k. Monarchie (English: k. u. k. monarchy) (in detail German: Kaiserliche und königliche Monarchie Österreich-Ungarn; Hungarian: Császári és Királyi Osztrák–Magyar Monarchia) and Danubian Monarchy (German: Donaumonarchie; Hungarian: Dunai Monarchia) or Dual Monarchy (German: Doppel-Monarchie; Hungarian: Dual-Monarchia) and The Double Eagle (German: Der Doppel-Adler; Hungarian: Kétsas), but none of these became widespread either in Hungary, or elsewhere.

Danubian could be a name that would mean Austro-Hungarian civilization. People hearing Austrians would comment that this is another German civ…

so here are just some suggestions, they are maybe a little out there but i hope it would make the factions stand out a bit more and make more sense as designs:

Poland:

infantry:

axe man, a melee infantry anti heavy infantry unit (age 2)

pikemen

musketeer (royal guard: polish legion)

lithuanian skirmisher, a cheap anti heavy infantry skirmisher with short range (think something a kind to state militia just without the numbers bonus) (age 3)

cavalry:

Uhlan
Winged Hussar (Charge attack with a lance like Coustillier but than switch to saber) (age 3)
Cavalry Archer (Royal Guard)

the rest can stay as what you wanted. reasons for changes? too many too similar unit that fulfill the same fundamental role, 3 melee cavalry units is too much.

as for austrians (if they where to be added):

barracks:

crossbowsman

pikemen

musketeer

Pandurs: weak skirmisher with good melee attack, similar to strellets but perhaps slightly better vs heavy infantry. (age 3)

cavalry:

war wagon

hussar (royal guard: magyar hussar, 20% increased HP but no dmg increase)

reasons for change: again too many too similar units, war wagons are famous, austrian dragoons are not. austria would rely on flooding the enemy with units more than they rely on good units, which makes historical sense.

Good idea. And We need a DLC to put Aoe3 in Napoleonic Warfares and other called “independence something” to give campaings about latin america colonial civs.

i would love to have a campagin of the 30 years war, since all the nations/ units kinda exist in the game at the moment :). Could be a bit fictional (like the other campaigns) or i would also love to have a story around important figures (Gustavus adoplphus, Wallenstein etc.)

Danubian sounds like a geographical term not a civilization.

Poland would be a great addition along with sweden.others im not so sure.

Instead of adding Austrians i would like to see Germans reworked with more Austrian influences, they were the most powerful nation within the HRE. Move the capital to Vienna and have an actual HRE Emperor of the Habsburgs to represent them. That way you don’t need to add a completely new civ.

Im down with the rest 3 you suggested but rather than adding Italians i would prefer Venetians or Sicilians with a unification option in Age IV rather than revolution.

Well, but Austria-Hungary was set in 1867. Very late in AoE3 timeframe. Just stick with Austrians.

Danubians is a fictional name.

Btw. you have wrong flag for German Empire :stuck_out_tongue:

Why not just give Magyar Hussars and some Musketeer to Germans?
It is not like most of their cards are not already Austrian, and they have very little Prussian, anyway.

The Austrian Empire was significantly different from other German states. It was focused on Eastern Europe. Most of the Austrian state was not in HRE !!!

Adding Austrians along with Poles, Danes and Italians would mean representing Europe completely.

The Austrians civ definitely deserves a presence in this game more than the USA. Besides, it would be more interesting.

Nice title 10/10 clickbait lol.

Poland would be a good addition to the game, no disagreement there.
I see you didnt even bother to do a concept for the Italians and Danes, but Danes = yes, Italians = no, Italians would serve better as natives on your proposed European maps and as mercenary units.

If you want to make Austrians just name them Austrians. I don’t know what youre trying to accomplish by making up names.
Furthermore Austrians are well represented by the German civ that represent the Austrain led HRE in the 30 years war. If you want a more Austro-Hungarian civ you can revolt to Hungary, they even have your exact suggested unit comp for the “danubians”.
