Sadly I know a few well i’ll be nice and say gamers who would use it on here, lol.
But on a lighter note guys, I agree, Microsoft has over stepped its limits here, I’m gonna invoke the 1st amendment here not to be funny but to say to to back up the argument giving in the thread. We have a right to say what we want. But at the same time we have a right to enjoy the game peaceful so there is a valued point on both sides, so if Microsoft was smart Make the Filter optional. IF you don’t want to see the language in chat turn on the filter to clean it out but if not keep it off but don’t force it on everyone if we don’t want it.
And as a side not Microsoft start testing you Patches before releasing like HD for crying out loud.
So i got in touch with a dev ( i am not revealing which studio they come from), here is the chat that occurred about the profanity filter if it helps in any way with anyone (as txt file):
ll.txt (3.9 KB)
I am sure the developers are neither dumb nor endorse this filter. Some buissines functionary from marketing/sales etc. told them to do it or get lost.
At this point most certainly, im 100% with you
The higher ups above the devs making this decision will cost them money in the long run. And I honestly can’t stand management who don’t listen to their subordinates and do whatever they want. That’s ■■■■ poor leadership for a company IMO. If I was a manger, I’d want input from my guys below me that work on the game on a daily basis. Microsoft obviously doesn’t do that. I hope AOE4 is a total fail with idiots running this franchise.
Negro is black is Spanish. a color. Where is the problem with write a color
It doesn’t help anyone with anything, but at least, if true, this conversation elucidates that the publisher (Microsoft) direction behind DE developing studios interferes way more than I may initially thought. It’s on the level of strictly one-sided decisions by Microsoft. If they don’t maintain a fair communication with the people that work on the game, the playerbase can only expect worse.
Oh, and also that the filter wasn’t on their development cycle, and the fact that it has been randomly throwed in only caused devs more problems. Devs are not to blame on that case here, call it on Microsoft. I hope more people come to see that and cease harsh approachs to developers when it comes to this subject (actually, consider not being harsh to those people at all).
100% true
20chars20chars
same as just calling them blacks, which is not racist even though people think it is lol
What he said is that negro means black, and if he says “the black sheep” (“a ovelha negra” on portuguese and I know that he was talking about spanish but we have a similar situation here) he is not calling “them” blacks, just saying the color of the sheep, as you pointed out, not being racist
sadly automated wordfilters can’t tell intent or context. this is why they should never even be used in my opinion. Lets just hope they let us toggle it like it should be, and like it is in any other game out there.
World filters are absolutely positive for games. Not everyone can handle bad language, and those people should have the OPTION (keyword: Option) to turn on a filter.
Unfortunately, the way that Microsoft implemented it is just awful. It shouldn’t censor the whole message, and shouldn’t be mandatory for other people to use.
Besides everything that was already said, theres one key feature i didint saw anyone mention.
The HUGEMONGUS DELAY that comes with this filter its like
c. r. a. p. im under attack!
30 minutes , and 2 tc destroyed later
***** ** ***** ******
Dear god, please remove it all together, there’s a mute option if you cant handle strong language thats ok, mute the other player and keep playing.
I’ve stumbled on that at the original post
Thing is that now I know for a fact that this delay is filter’s fault.
Must’ve missed it, sorry!
If you reread the convo I had with the dev
This is awful.
The censor is absolutely atrocious. Did you know the number 31 is censored? Yeah, you have the number 31 and it’s censored. The phrase “Oh yeah” is censored. This censor is absolutely awful.
Please, for the love of God. The devs hate it, the users hate it. This thing needs to be stopped.
If you type “Microsoft sucks” in chat the profanity filter censors that out too. Sounds like they got all avenues covered with this filter. Microsoft obviously doesn’t care what we think because they still have their garbage filter implemented into the game. So do yourself a favor and don’t buy any of their games or products in the future.
I’m with you. Until this filter gets fixed, we boycott Microsoft.
There is no excuse to treat your players with such little respect.
