Extreme language Filter (Censor)

And on top of that what they implemented to deal with their concern wasn’t the filter, but the reporting system.

I will stand by everything I said. Any multiplayer game with large community needs active moderation to prevent cheating, laming, grieving and all sorts of abuse. If you want to be the one asking for more toxic and insufferable community then sure whatever, do what you want.

Alright grown boy, we got it. You’re tough and manly. Let us be soft then. If you don’t want the report don’t use it. Bye.

Someone literally found a fix a mere few posts ago. Why aren’t you even trying it?

Let’s do this little analogy again: if someone is letting their dog do its needs in your garden, do you consider that complaining about that is “being soft” or a normal reaction? It’s roughly the same as not wanting people to spew their venom in your game.

So, basically if I log out from my xbox live account, the filter will go away? Or it will become softer? I play in steam, by the way

It depends, AFAIK. My bet is that if your system instalation for the game was on english, the filter won’t disband, since (for what we know so far) steam server has its own filter also and it still filter a lot of stuff on english. But if you had your installation setting on other language (I’ve seens this coming true for PT-BR and IT) the filter disbands almost completely when logged off.

If the word “” negro" is forbidden, then the words- " racist" and " Giaour"( Gawur) must be forbidden too.

Europeans use the word - negro, while the Africans used the word “racist”. And the Asians use the word " Giaour"( Gawur).
At Europe, negro is not a slur, but racist and Giaour are slurs.

Negro isn’t even a slur in the US. There is a charity called the “United Negro College Fund”

Game Version:

  • Build: i7 6700K, 32 DDR4, GTX 960
  • Platform: Steam

Issue:

New “family friendly” chat is delayed, glitches the game when sending message esp during population peak times (200+), censors absolutely acceptable and unrelated words such as “sec”.

I often have to retype one message 6 times in order to tell my player game-essential information without getting censored with “*******”.

Aside from that, I understand some underaged players may get offended from the word “s*x”, but this is not a reason to censor it and hundreds of other words that may sound like it or relate to it.

These issues need to be resolved.

There should be no chat censorship at all in a game targeted to adult men in their 30s. If what you’re saying is true and can’t be turned off, that needs to me removed immediately by the devs.

It does not just censor the questionable word it censors the whole message.

Absolutely. They’ve already introduced the mute button to avoid trolls and toxic players, this glitchy censorship is pure abuse towards the player-base and those who want to play a normal and neutral game WITHOUT messages getting delayed or glitched-out due to improper and abusive censorship.

That is the problem and issue is still not fixed as of 15-02-2020 EST.

Maps like Nomad where communications are essential are nearly unplayable without a 3rd party program such as Discord. We tried playing 10 different 4v4 maps and our messages had 5-10 seconds delays on top of getting completely censored (having to retype a 25 letter message several times can get annoying), by that time players could have gotten defeated by enemy forces.

The thing that is most disgusting of all is that they’ve conveniently not mentioned it in a single ■■■■ update log, news, or anything that I can see easily at least.

Censorship of this sort should be entirely optional and at a user’s discretion.

Hate-speech, etc. are one thing but I jokingly called someone else “rude” earlier and it blocked it…

It’s over-zealous and insidious. Should 100% be changed; this is going to be immensely unpopular. I 100% guarantee there are probably campaign missions that are now broken because it accidentally censors a word.

I guess they figured the crashes, etc. hadn’t killed the game enough so they’d kill it completely? And apparently people are saying that it’s because of the Chinese market… Yeah, funny that that hasn’t been an issue in the 15+ years of Voobly operating.

It’s so bad it even censors it’s own taunts such as:
31: Attack an enemy now
61: Attack Player One
63: Atack Player Three
66: Attack Player Six
68: Attack Player Eight
(Why would it skip players? lol)

When sending them fast enough they will go out in the wrong order too

So my name in-game… and in Steam is: l8WpnsofKungFu

The recent update seems to have added a profanity filter to names as well as chat… which is fine, however I do agree with other posts that ask for this to be optional (an option in the settings to turn profanity filter off would be great).

The problem I have is… that my name is somehow filtered now… likely because the two character string “Fu” exists in my name. The “Kung” “Fu” part of my name is a tribute to one of the most ridiculous Kung Fu Theatre movies of all time: 18 Weapons of Kung Fu

… and much less what the two letter abbreviation “fu” might stand for in the American slang. Or actually that word is pretty international at this point… but none-the-less I think filtering an entire name because of some suspicious letter might be a little much. So Devs, at your earliest convenience, please give us a little more leeway with the new profanity filter. Thanks!

also the pns could be ■■■■■

Maybe so… and I really have no idea what “pns” might stand for… Really. No. Idea.

Neither have the devs.
I think they censor it anyway just to be sure
