How long does it typically take for you to make a scenario? Also, are you planning any more puzzle style scenarios or mysteries?
hey man, i wanted to know if the Yellow Turban’s difficulty is meant to be the hardest in Three Kingdoms III because it seems almost impossible to win in hard difficulty, can’t build ships or advance to castle age in time before 5 opponents start attacking me in early rush while i can barely make a single barracks at that point, i mean they are not supposed to attack you all together right? it’s supposed to be the three kingdoms attacking each other and the player getting attacked by the minor tribes at the start, there’s just not enough time to prepare economy or an army because it’s 4-5 opponents allied to each other attacking the player with 20 units approximately each one with castle age upgrades. The rest of the civilization choices are pretty entertaining and i noticed that indeed the three kingdoms attacked each other when using a different civ, which didn’t happen when using the Yellow Turbans, they all just went to kill my 3 monks and 8 villagers non stop for 30 min and then again for 20 min when retried.
Happy New Year!

Thanks for creating yet another game. I’m enjoying trying to beat it! After watching “Last Kingdom,” it occurred to me that you might build on your previous work to create a game centered on Alfred the Great and his descendants as they try to create a united England.
Great campaigns I did the vandal roman one and am currently playing the Byzantine restoration. I like how your campaigns are kind of like a sim city or RPG where you slowly grow and level up. My god it will take me so long to play through half of your campaigns. You should try to do a witcher custom campaign where you are trying to deal with nilfguard and have them wearing the dark grey. Or maybe alternative history or history reimagined have Assyria empire which never fell in 612 BC fight the monguls in medevil times. Or have Roman Empire never fall unified but always attacks like Byzantines and have them build wall like great wall of china.
I don’t think that is really his style. He typically seems to prefer doing historically based stuff, with some level of re-imagining sometimes, and his own unique game mechanics and gameplay style.
Hi Filthy! Hope all is well.
I was wondering if you could make a campaign on the First Crusade with Normans, Popes, Seljuqs, Byzantines and sneaky tricks to win the Kingdom of Heaven
The First Crusade appears in the third mission of The Hautevilles campaing,
I’m meaning something like from start to finish, maybe with the Pope starting out in France, navigating the politics there to recruit a large number of nobility (with other side events like the peasants’ crusade suddenly). Then guiding the crusading armies through Anatolia and to Antioch, and the final map the conquest of Jerusalem itself.
Hi @PhillySouljah
Hope all is well. I’m playing Age of Empires 2 after a 8 month break and back to playing your custom campaigns.
Just finished playing your ‘Vandals - Destroyers of Rome: 407 CE’ campaign.
Its interesting how the Vandals, start in France and then face the Goths, then go to Spain and finally you can march to Italy from the north or enter via Sicily.
The nomadic gameplay was super cool. Really felt as if you were part of a tribe that kept moving. Very nice simulation. There are a lot of Roman bases in the deserts of Africa too, which added another dynamic to the play.
I enjoy side quests and was a tad disappointed that exploration of the map did not reward the player with some interesting side things to do like in your other maps. Also the Roman AI was extremely defensive and did attack the player. I also expected a huge onslaught from Rome, once we settled in Carthage. That would have added some challenge. It did make sense as the loss of revenues from the Vandal conquest was a disaster and Rome did have plans to retaliate.
But these are very minor things.
Overall the progression was fabulous, from a weak group to sacking of Rome.
Thanks again for a wonderfully executed story!
Hi @PhillySouljah
Finished another one - “A Journey to the West”
Really enjoyed the walking simulator of Xuanzang’s journey to India. He visited modern day Afghanistan, Kashmir in India, North West India and the Nalanda which was the epicenter of Buddhism. He apparently found thousands of monasteries and stupas in northwest India. What a glorious time, it was for the religion of Buddhism!
I loved how the climax of the mission involved large “debates” between monks and how Xuanzang’s point on “many paths leading to same destination” wins. Loved it!
Ultimately while Xuanzang’s main purpose was to obtain Buddhist books and learn Buddhism while in India, he ended up doing much more. He preserved the records of the political and social aspects of all the countries he visited as documented in his book - “Great Tang Records on the Western Regions”. This in turn inspired the Ming novel “Journey to the West”, one of the great classics of Chinese literature.
Which is also the name of this amazing custom campaign!
Xuanzang’s story is incredible and we are lucky to have it here in AOE 2.
Thank you so much for making this one!
@PhillySouljah I hope you could remake the campaigns with the new Indian civilisations when they come out
Rise of Khmer would be a hell of work now
You mean, you want @PhillySouljah to remake the Age of Dynasty DLC campaign’s?
I’m not sure about that, i think him creating scenario’s and stories that the official devs wont make is fine.
As in, replace the civs in his campaigns. Like his one on Xuan Zang would be nice to include the various Indian civilisations with their new buildings etc.
Ah! That makes sense. Nice idea.
Incorporating all the new civs from - Lords of the West, Dawn of the Dukes, Dynasties of India would be a lot of effort.
I think not too many changes for the Xuan Tsang one though. As its its a puzzle type scenario. But it was great fun
