The Austro-Hungarian Empire was formed with the Compromise of 1867 and the German Empire was proclaimed on January 18, 1871. So they both pass the pre-1876 test!!!

You donât need to conform to his arbitrary timeline. The Berlin Conference is definitely within the gameâs scope. There are units with the uniform worn by the German colonial African troops.

Yes, Austria was clearly thought of as distinct from the rest of Germany. Thatâs why itâs so clearly differentiated in old mapsâŠ

So, nothing is set in stone about time periods. 
With this thread we can all see there is a LOT of options for future content involving German speaking nations in AOE3. Thanks everyone for all your posts.

As I said in the previous post Austria was much stronger than German states in the 17th century. Habsburgs Monarchy survived many wars, developed economy, art and had many nationalities ( but long time before Hungarians took equal civil rights). Germany in the 17th century for example one - they own. Only later in the 18th century did they take some lands from Poland - for exaple GdaĆsk, PoznaĆ, ToruĆ and other. The strength of Prussia is next period - the eighteenth century and the victorious struggle for rich Silesia (Silesian Wars Silesian Wars - Wikipedia ) with the Austrians for example and Seven Years War fights ( with Russians and Austrians ) Miracle of the House of Brandenburg - Wikipedia

Censorship. Letâs go back to the differences resulting from previous centuries and leave the 20th century. I think my previous post about the 17th and 18th centuries shows many differences between these nationalities ( There are many , many generally other of course).

So with all the discourse here again I decided to just make a mod to see how much you need to change to make the Germans either Prussian or Austrian.
You can check it out here to see for yourselves.
Simply put, I had to change a lot more to make the Germans work as Prussians. Doppels and War wagons just donât work for Prussia, so a lot of cards affecting them had to be changed as well. I chose to replace them with Grenadiers and Dragoons, but the Giant Grenadier wouldâve been a better choice perhaps.
All Prussian themed cards are new in DE so that was easier to replace or remove for the Austrians, just 4 of em.
The Austrians ended up a lot closer to the OG Germans.
Note that some card names only change ingame, didnt want to make completely new cards for stuff that just needed a name change. Maybe later.
