Got 2 games for 2 scenario maps each (Sirak LOTR BFME DE, and a second LOTR scenario).
In the Sirak LOTR BFME DE games there are big freezes of up to 4 in game minutes circa 2 minutes after the game has started
In the other LOTR scenario the game crashes within 2 minutes and has to be closed by a windows Task Manager (my experience).
Both of these scenarios worked fine before the latest update so its a shame we haven’t been able to play them since
ps. the games are added by Solomon because new accounts cant attach files

same type of crash this time only with 4 players, it seems like the game just starts using memory infinitely until it runs out, due to some certain objects maybe

ISSUE EXPERIENCED
I have the exact same problem, playing any type of custom scenario. For 3 days now, I have not been able to play any type of custom scenario since they have a huge lag of several minutes, arround 4 minutes after starting the game correctly. If I wait about 3 minutes with sound and the music keep going, the game responds and try to catch up, but by then all the other players are disconeccted because they where tire of waiting.
This scenarios without any modding, only official content used to work perfectly:
EUROPE IMPERIAL WARS - Mods - Age of Empires
I’ve try to host in:
Westeurope
Brazilsouth
Eastus
all with the same result.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
- 100% of the time / matches I play (ALWAYS)
REPRODUCTION STEPS
Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:
- Create a multiplayer lobby in Brazilsouth server and have 8 players in total
- Be subscribed to a scenario mod like “https://www.ageofempires.com/mods/details/54178/” or any custom scenario
- Set Game Mode → Custom Scenario and select the scenario
- Start match and wait for 1-4 minutes
EXPECTED RESULT
The game shoud continue as normal without any major freezes / lag / crashes for any player.
today i have the same problem in a continental map with 8 players
The game doesn’t crash anymore at the start, but it freezes (for all players) throughout until finally crashing at some point, so it’s still unplayable
The problem keeps going and is not even in the “known issues” anymore. the game is ruined for me. and the weeks i spend making scenarios are ruined too.
Well, looking at the logs, there were some possible things you/creator could look into.
Look into the following object Classes (on the map/triggers):
905: ocean-fish-class Ocean fish class. Excludes shore fish.
906: infantry-class Infantry class.
909: prey-animal-class* Prey Animal class. Includes deer and its variants.
918: monastery-class Monastery class. Includes monks and missionaries. Doesn’t include monasteries. Doesn’t include monks carrying relics.
927: wall-class Wall class.
933: shore-fish-class Shore Fish class.
edit: this is assuming the logs refers to the actual ID and not in game instance ids. (The UnitId’s makes me think it does in this case. Might be the same for MasterID… If so, they should really change the logs…)
I’m sorry I don’t understand what are you saying. I have to delete all prey, walls and fish?

From the mod/scenario itself yes. (Possibly. I am making an ‘educated guess’.) That is a/the starting point anyway. I suppose I could take a look into the mod itself though… Although, it COULD be a ‘game itself’ issue too. I don’t actually know.)
Anyway, i’ll download the mod and take a quick look…
edit: Ah I think I see the issue…? (or some part of it.) You are modifying the Objects Names first and then changing the attributes. That is bad. (assuming they never fixed this issue.) You cannot do that. I was explained this a long time ago for one of my scenarios. (It sucks but, its a design flaw.) Once you ‘name’ an object, it becomes a ‘new object’ and any ‘new attribute’ changes will NOT work. (you are using the old modify stuff. If you use the new modify attribute, it might work. They have a “name” attribute with it that I think works.)
edit: Oh, those effects only apply to towers… Hmm… (Although, they still might be related somehow…) They did kind of break/make changes to the language stuff with the recent patch… so… possibly related…?
edit: If anything, try removing all the “Change Object Name” effects from your triggers and see if the same results still happens. (If this stops the freezes, I have another suggestion to fix it. Make your own Strings IDs for the Object Names and use those.)
edit: My ‘other idea’ would be there could be too many objects. (since this is a big map.) There are ‘some’ instances (personal tests) where I found the game will crash with too many objects. (I thought they fixed this but, it seems I am wrong or not fully fixed…) Previously, I found it was 32767 total. (divided by per player. making it… 4096 objects per player max. Gaia being an exception I think.)

I’m not sure if this helps or not, but Ive recently found a reason maps are lagging and its from some potential triggers. One trigger I found to cause massive lag into the game crashing is by using “attack move” effect on gaia units

I’ve also been having issues with lags (up to 5 minutes in game at a time) since the May 16th update. Here is a post on that: In-Game Freezes for up to 5 minutes at a time!
Also since the may 16th update, reported memory leak issues with the game have been reported, here is info on that: Computer Memory Usage Increasing while Playing
In short - lots of headaches for scenario players/map creators lately. Hopefully this all gets fixed

i woud try everything but the thing is all custon maps are failing in multiplayer mod. it doesnt matter if is just a simple and tiny map. The same maps used to work very well. in fact i try to play a game with no trigger at all and keeps crashing.

that’s the problem, since may 16th all the custon scenarios are crashing.
I see… Well besides the ‘standard’ suggestions, (verify game files, update system/firmware, or make sure firewall/antivirus software isn’t the issue.) you will have to wait for the developers to fix it.
hmm, If ALL custom maps are crashing, then maybe it is affecting your computer differently than it was before the patch
maybe you can find others who are experiencing the same thing you are
