Who is “we”? As far as I know, nobody asked for Microsoft to copy and paste scenarios that already existed and sell them.
Do a research and ask those thousands of people on Facebook Age of Empires groups for example that are very excited with this DLC.
Did people explicitly ask for recycled content? Did they? Really? Are you sure? Really really sure?
Or did people ask for campaign DLC?
I assure you, new content is very different from rehashed content.
“You (I asked for campaign contents but not this ### so don’t count me) asked for it” is not accurate enough. Let me correct it for you:
You deserve it.
And you deserve more like this.
Best wishes.
No, they are just pleased with the current DLC and bought it. Maybe not every each of them knows that this DLC includes recycled content, that maybe true, but is it relevant? As long as they bought it and they are pleased with it?
or check steam reviews, which have now dropped even further down to 31%
either way, can we please get back on topic. What should FE/WE do to regain trust and to salvage this situation?
Less people wrote reviews on steam then people that are in one single Facebook group.
While there are at least 15 Facebook groups, more then 10 Instagram Groups, I don’t know how many Twitter groups and lets not talk about Aoe2 fans on YouTube or Discord. And all these are just hard core fans, everyone that I know are not even part of a group, forum or thread. As I said before, very few people waste time on reviews/comments.
That being said, the steam reviews is irrelevant, while on this forum thread there are even less people commenting.
Oh, so you lied.
Yes it is? Because it explicitly says so in the Steam Page. And people deserve to know full-well what they’re spending money on. And because it’s absolutely bad practice for devs to release such lazy DLC.
They should apologize and either reduce the price, or add more content to the DLC. Then later in the future, release a campaign DLC with actual campaigns, which are not recycled.
If 10 out for 10.000 buyers comment on steam and 3 are positive, 7 are negative → for me its irrelevant.
Guys, I remind you again, please avoid flaming and insults. Try to discuss without violating the rules and maintaining respect.
Release good DLC-s like in the old times:
4 new civs
4 new campaigns
1 or 2 new architecture sets
new editor units/flora/fauna
Are you 100% sure? If yes I’m deleting aoe2 until then.
Honestly instead of 2 DLC per year I’d rather have a big expansion like that.
Add some new generic/regional technologies and units for old civilisations on top and it would be perfect.
Also doesn’t have to follow a theme or have 1-2 civs that don’t fit the theme to get more variety like Koreans in The Conquerors.
At the meantime the reviews continue to fall in full red territory, now 30% positive on 498 reviews… This I way way more than 10 buyers. It is 348 of 498 buyers dissatisfied with this DLC. These are the official numbers…
why don’t they just disable the free scenario editor and resell it as a new dlc atp lmao. They’ll tell us, we’ve polished it.
I’m not so sure about that. The recent patch notes say
we fully intend to keep Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition like a year-long Christmas tree with the presents piled high
which I take to mean they have some plans for AoE2 specifically for the rest of the year. Whether that means actual new content or just the usual type of events, I don’t know – but the context is talking about “some big surprises still waiting for you”, so I guess there must be something new about it.
I’m not sure whether it’s “intended” or “pretended”, but there may be new contents. This V&V looks like a test like previous icon DLC.
I bet they will try out civ only DLC too.
Doing market research basically.
Make a “campaign” only DLC and then a Civ only DLC and see what people like more.
Even if this is a DLC to conduct some market testing its still a huge disrespect to the fans who enjoy singe player content. Basically they’re saying we don’t care enough about you to invest any resources into a DLC aimed at you, but we still expect you pay an exorbitant price for the content. It still seems like they don’t believe in the long term success of the game and are looking for ways to try and milk it for as long as they can.
Honestly this all feels less like market research as to whether we’ll buy scenario only DLCs, but how little effort they can put into a DLC before there’s blowback.
If that civ only dlc comes with again no new graphics and reused game mechanics (like the Romans) then we shall burn the forums!
