Indians need MOST of any civ to be split into many civilizations

or grouping with others that are not the tamils and make more sense, as you pointed out to me earlier today, tamils should not encompass any other language, except for maybe Malayalam

I think Chalukyas might have also imported camels from the northwest because theyā€™re not exactly endemic to the deccan either. Most civilisations had a habit of buying animals for warfare, especially the Pratiharas who bought camels and horses a lot from Arabia and Syria.

all east indian civs specialised in war dances. afterall they have similar heritage.
The presence of these dancers gives a clear picture about the knowledge of experienced war time psychological and motivational efforts for the soldiers.

There are war dances for native american civs in AOE 3. I think if you do a war dance you get + attack or something

they werenā€™t dancing and fighting.

it is a morale boost say when you are resisting in a fort. psychological tricks were crucial in battlefields.

No thereā€™s this little thing you build and you can garrison villagers into it and make them do fertility dance to increase production or war dance to increase attack or something. I donā€™t think such things in AOE2 will be nice for the game.

i am just pointing out the similarities in east aryan cultures and tactics.

it can be a unique tech researched by the civilization. @JonOli12 's tech tree proposal for Odiyas contains it as a tech as far as I remember.

Yeah, my suggestion doesnā€™t include anything like that; it was for the university techs (Nalanda) and the elephants to go fast, and a team bonus of fast monasteries.

this contains the best east aryan civ idea that can represent all civs in the region that i have seen so far.

did some research, cholas used fast heavy cavalry

fast + heavy ?
any pictures/links to the source?

No, they used fast cavalry, but light. Even reading Ponniyin Selvan where the author did lots of research on the Chola military, it seems like they liked their horses but didnā€™t wear much armour. Lots of the warriors (ā€œheroesā€ in the game) brag about how they survived wounds on their chest during wars against the Sinhala.

Itā€™s like this: heavy cavalry = slow, but armoured. Light cavalry = fast, but not much armour. You canā€™t have both unless youā€™re using a steam engine to propel the horse.

There is no fast heavy cavalry. Heavy Cavalry was always fast because of the horses, and Light Cavalry was even faster because it used little armour.

The medium in between was Shock Cavalry, but AoE cannot have those, as there is no Charge mechanic, which Shock Cavalry was wholly dependant on for success in the battlefield.

im pretty sure Cholas relied on heavy cavalry

With Elite Battle Elephant + Cavalier, you already would have enough Heavy Cavalry.

sorry, i meant that the civ should revolve around heavy cavalry

prior knowledge from when i was younger

Well, all Indians did field some heavy cavalry, especially in the north, but it really doesnā€™t seem like the Cholas relied on them that much compared to fast light cavalry, elephant howdahs, and infantry. They did like their horsemen and their lancers, but not really highly armoured. In fact, the overuse of Infantry and Elephants was a common theme in most Indian armies, even of those who were external Persian conquerors, which gave them often a big pace disadvantage. Some did, however import cavalry and camels from Arabia and Syria and maintain a good force (like the Pratihara I mentioned).

Remember, though, the Cholas werenā€™t particularly good on land battles; it was their naval prowess and trade money that kept them powerful. Even against the Chalukyas (Western) they nearly lost the battle at Koppam and possibly their whole empire till the dead emperorā€™s brother unexpectedly took charge of the army and won the battle. Later they struggled against the Hoysalas and had to often use the help of the Eastern Chalukya (who were by then also mostly Tamil due to marital alliances and eventually took the Chola throne).
