Let's build a world map of AoE3

No need to make up a Watsonian explanation for something that has an overt Doylist reason.

im pretty certain Venice is italians homecity.

There are still at least 8 Maps missing for europe, that are seen on the map loading screans:
iceland (already in the game files)
Gibraltar
Balearic Islands
Malta
Caspian sea
Black sea
north sea
ural mountains

however, since vividly retired, I dont know if we will ever get them. If you compare the history of new maps, it looks sadly dark.
Here is the list of the last updates and how many new maps were introduced:
08/2021 (15 new maps) Africa DLC
09/2021 (4 new maps) sahle, dunes, ivory coast, swahili coast

Gibraltar could be a fun, almost King of the Hill (Rock!) style map where you could have the fortified Rock in the middle with a British side and Spanish side surrounding it (these not really having much difference if a ‘normal’ map).

Or it could be an hybrid European/African map. I have no idea where you got British from.

Nowadays Gibraltar is British lol

Oh, I don’t know…

:stuck_out_tongue:

I never heard of those, but they sound like they should be represented by a historical battle or historical map, not by a regular map.
It’s already weird enough that the Mediterranean map only gets Euro natives.

Isn’t that the space between Spain and North Africa?

The strait of Gibraltar is while Gibraltar per se is a Rock with some land in the area thats administrated by the UK

I assume it’s an undocumented change, because I never heard of it.

Either way, I’m glad for the change. I’ll have to check.

Gales tiene los puestos comerciales americanos y no los europeos

I wish they had a Risk-like game with this World Map. Would be soooo addiciting.

I really should have linked my mega map here when I made it.

You also probably wouldn’t retire again this decade.

Man, if only. Having you fill out the rest of the map would be amazing.

For Southern China I propose the following maps:

Jiangnan: covering its eastern coast, literally means “south of the Yangtse River”, and roughly corresponds to Zhejiang and Fujian provinces. I was initially against this name when someone else proposed it, though now I think it’s a reasonable name to use.

Dongting: covering the central Yangtse region and named after the Dongting Lake located in northeastern Hunan, roughly corresponds to the Yangtse River region on your map.

Sichuan: same name and covering the same region (Sichuan basin) as the one on your map, no need further explanation.

Yungui: covering the Yungui Plateau bordering Parallel Rivers (Burma)

Lingnan: corresponding to the Pearl Delta on your map and covering the southern coast, the name literally means “south of the Nanling mountain range”.

And some possible new minor civs that could occur on these new maps (as well as on some of the existing maps):

Taoist Temple: Jiangnan, Dongting, Sichuan, Central Plains

Shaolin Temple (not new but I included it here nonetheless): Jiangnan, Yellow River, Central Plains

Hui Settlement: Silk Road, Mongolia, Yellow River

Tanka Settlement: Jiangnan, Lingnan, Indochina

Hmong Settlement: Dongting, Sichuan, Yungui

Zhuang Settlement: Lingnan, Yungui, Indochina

Cham Settlement: Indochina, Siam, Lingnan, Malaysia

Tai Settlement: Siam, Parallel Rivers, Yungui

Is there any other name for the Tai settlement other than just calling them tai?

Cuz that feels kinda awkward considering everybody expects them to be more of a main, playable civ.

Not that they couldn’t coexist, kinda like Quechua and Inca, but still, well, there’s got to be an alternative, right?

Maybe simply calling the site Wat could do the trick.

The main civ could be called Siamese

Tilanus when he commented on the Royal houses stated that natives generally should be present on at least 5 maps, so 3 maps for most of these are a little low.
