Leiciai, apparently.
Sorry if I didnât understand what you meant. I have the impression that we are not talking about the same thing, I was probably not clear. My suggestion is in case we canât have a Yoruba civ (due to the 48 civ limit or whatever) as I also would like to see one even without a campaign.
Imo I donât think itâs wrong to represent them as a second UU in the aforementioned case. From what I read on Wiki, the Yoruba were militarily similar to Benin, but they could use horses and Benin, war canoes. Benin could even keep some horses (bought/stolen), but could not raise them due to diseases in the wooded area to the south where they lived.
So I would see it more like this: a civ (in this case Benin; in-game: Britons) using as the UU a famous unit from a neighboring civ (in this case, Yoruba; in-game: Celts).
But again, thatâs just in case we canât have a Yoruba civ.
For campaigns, we can use one (or all, as you suggested) of these four Oyo Obas:
⢠Ofinran, ### ########### the original territory of Oyo from the Nupe and built a new capital;
⢠Eguguojo, who conquered most of Yorubaland;
⢠Orompoto, queen who led the obliteration of the Nupe; and
⢠Abipa, who rebuilt and repopulated the ancient capital, Oyo-Ile.
(There are no exact dates for them on Wiki, it just says they were from the late 16th/early 17th century and puts them in that order of succession.)
Iâll see if I can find more info about the Yoruba people. These links from historum.com and r/askhistorians, there are suggestions of books â some already mentioned in the Wiki, some not â that can help us.
Censored words: âwho-conqueredâ. What the heck?
Ah yeah I understand, I am still personally against civs trying to represent others civs in that way but I get what you mean. Itâs just if we were to only see a Benin civ and no Yoruba, Iâd rather they just had Benin-only elements to their design. Difference of a opinion really I suppose.

Wrong. Itâs leiÄiai. Completely different.
Whose flag is that? (Without checking Wiktionary)
A useful video which could give devs some ideas on adding the civilisations to break up the Chinese into Khitans, Tibetans and JurchensâŚAlso some ideas for the campaignsâŚ
Donât be pedantic. Typing special characters like that isnât easy.
You fool! You fell right into my trap!
Would it really be a split?
Iâll give you a hint:
Obas of Oyo might be a viable campaign. Civilizations without possible campaigns shouldnât be in the game.
I know this was never a respectful discussion or anything but now youâre just being an ########
By not censoring âanâ the rest of the censored word is predictable.
Obas of Oyo is definitely a viable campaign I really donât see the problem here; possible to even have a campaign based off of an individual Oba if the devs are able to do enough research.
Can yâall PLEASE stop fighting?!
Please do not make civs after dynasties.
Are you saying there shouldnât be any more civs, or that this particular person shouldnât design them?
I read it more as donât base civs on Dynasties, but I could be wrong.
I read it as you shouldnât create civs based on historical dynasties, but itâs funny how it can also be read as you should not make more civs after the Dynasties of India dlc.
