I keep seeing more and more posts on this forum trying to solve the 18 year problem of trying to make Grenadiers more viable in competitive games. Do you know the best re-work solution???

Originally in AOE3 classic there was just one grenadier, now there are 3.5 standard ones as well as a few mercenary/native varieties.
Some people dismiss grenadiers others might swear by them.
Should other non-artilery siege units (IFlamethrower, Mantlet) be considered the same as grenadiers for in game effects like the Team Musketeer/Grenadier combat card?

I’m making this new post because I don’t want to re-awaken any of the old threads surrounding grenadiers. I believe that the lack of popularity of grenadiers is because they don’t outright counter anything. So, to change this I am going to present 3 potential rework ideas I’ve come up with after reading through a few other grenadier posts.

In SC-2 there are units that can transmute becoming other units. The purpose of this is to make the base unit more useful throughout the game. There are many examples of this:

I propose that we buff grenadier base stats to make them more viable as a unit.
