Microsoft, DLC for AoE1 please!

I mean, they were on an island, pretty easy to defend back then

I mean, it was a pretty big peninsula. Similar to Italy, only bigger. I must admit that it is more half-knowledge.

A new Levantine Buildset for Palmyrenes, Hebrews and Phoenicians.

Etruscans as a separate Italian civilisation. Same buildset but wonders should be unique for each civilisation.

Carthage and Numidians with a new buildset.

My DLCs suggestion for AoE 1 DE:

  1. The Birth of Civilization - Israelites, Arabs (Nabataeans), Celts and Nubians
  2. The Hadrian’s Wall - Britons, Germanians, Armenians and Dacians
  3. The Fall of Rome - Slavs, Scythians, Huns and Goths
  4. The Conquest of Italy - Etruscans, Iberians and Illyrians (Byzantines also?)
  5. The Alexander’s Conquests - Indians (Mauryans), Lybians, Berbers (Numidians), Mongols (Xionghu) and Funan (Southeast Asian Empire)

New architecture styles:

  1. Barbarian - Celts, Britons, Germanians and Dacians
  2. Levantine - Israelites, Palmyrenes and Phoenicians
  3. Indo-European - Slavs, Scythians, Huns and Goths
  4. Saharan - Arabs (Nabataeans), Lybians, Berbers (Numidians) and Nubians
  5. South Asian - Indians (Mauryans) and Funan (Southeast Asian Empire)

Convert AoE 1 DE engine to AoE 2 DE engine.

Whatever they add would be nice to have, honestly, if it implies good, new content. Maybe the cut content could be added eventually too, or at least a part of what was excluded:

Love the civ choices but strongly disagree on changing the mechanics to be more like AOE2.

Yeah, keep Aoe1 Aoe1 and Aoe2 Aoe2

Can’t help but think Age of Empires: Definitive Edition desperately needs extra paid content, even more now, since Dawn of the Dukes is close to release.
Would love to see these cultures added:

Akkadians

Scythians

Gauls

Harappan

Akkadians and Scythians would be easier to add, as the game already have building sets that match this civilizations. The first game DLC should add civs that work with the existing graphics, and then, if it makes enough success, add civs that would require new building sets, like the Celts and Indus Valley peoples.

Oh! Nice way to put it. Yes, this seems like a reasonable way to test the waters and see what happens within the community.

Sad to not have a Definitive Edition for that game too. Would’ve loved to have that instead of Age of Empires IV, which looks weird to my eyes and less polished than the 3D models from AOE3:DE (at least from what I saw -E3 2021 gameplay reveal).

AOE1 should re-engineered, or at least remade over AOE2 DE engine.
AOE1 DE gameplay is inferior to mods, e.g. Rome Returns or RockNRor. Only graphics is arguably better.

I wonder if we will have any event on this game. The indifference or inability to create any on the first game of the series shows the limitations of the engine or how much they don’t care about it. :frowning: Like it was the game fault for being buggy or released on Steam too much later. :unamused:

This has to do with the indifference of the devs and nothing to do with the engine. The game was simply ■■■■■■ up.
