STEP 3 (RECOMMENDED): Sign the mod “AOE2 Golden DE (FULL Tech Tree)”. This mod features the big and small tech tree in the game, but for this mod to work you need to replace the original file “civTechTrees.json” with the mod. So first make a backup copy of the original file.

  • After downloading this mod open the game click on the options button, click on the “MODS” button, select the mod “AOE2 Golden DE (FULL Tech Tree)” and click on the “Open Directory” button and click on the “widgetui” folder and copy the file “civTechTrees.json” and replace it with the original and the next time you consult the tech tree, the new tree will appear.

Hey, I like the look of your mod but when I tried to install your mod (I think I installed it correctly) most of my buttons and icons turn to gibberish.


Is there anything I’ve done wrong with installation?

the update broke the UI and materials.json and need to wait for the creator to update it. until it is done, the UI will cause this issue.

BIG UPGRADE:

  1. Added “Return of Rome” DLC to mod (with update 87863)

  2. The dat mod, now named “AOE2_Golden_DE (DAT_AI_TREE)”, no longer counted the graphics to be faster to download. Now the mod contains the AI and tech tree.

  3. The AI mod, now named “AOE2_Golden_DE (Graphics_Text_UI_Movie)”, no longer contains the AI. This mod now has the graphics, all the icons, a new movie when starting the game and texts of all new units/techs/buildings; but it is only temporarily available in English, due to lack of time and so you don’t have to wait too long. When I have it for all languages I’ll update the mod and let you know here. Although the mod is only in English it is not necessary to switch to this language because all the text folders are in English.

  4. The “AOE2 Golden DE (FULL Tech Tree)” mod has been removed because it is no longer needed.

GENERAL:

This new update contains a lot of new stuff that I forgot to point out so I’m just going to give you a summary:

  1. Added two new Ages. In total the mod now has 7 Ages, with the following order:
    AGE I = Stone Age;
    AGE II = Dark Age;
    AGE III = Bronze Age;
    AGE IV = Feudal Age;
    AGE V = Castle Age;
    AGE VI = Imperial Age;
    AGE VII = Golden Age;

  2. Added some new units, new architectures for each Age and version of civilizations. Also added some new technologies and icons.

  3. The AI is ready to play in all Ages and with the new units and technologies. But be careful when choosing a difficulty higher than easy (standard) because it cheats.

  4. All new units/technologies/buildings are in the Tech Tree. The Tech Tree doesn’t say what Age requires all units/technologies/buildings. Age is stated in the unit/technology/building name itself. Also during the game from the second age onwards, it is said in the name of the building which age you are and so that your enemy will also know; because the mod has many new architectures and can confuse you or confuse the enemy in which Age you are.

ATTENTION: Although the mod has the new DLC this mod is only the AOE2DE version, it is not compatible with the AOE1DE version. So, WHENEVER you want to switch to the AOE1DE version, FIRST DISABLE my mods for that version to work properly. Do not forget about this, as in some cases it can lead to a game crash.

I have seen the AI create the siege tank and golden tank. It is also on the Frank and Vietnamese tech tree, but I can’t find the upgrade for it anywhere? I also attempted aegis to locate it to no avail. In short, how do I get the siege tnak upgrade?

Thanks for the info. You couldn’t research those technologies because the Siege Tower unit button was the same as the technologies, that’s why it didn’t show up. Welcome to the “Castle Blood Golden DE_4vs4” scenario. For you to play this scenario or in multiplayer mode, everyone must subscribe to the mods “AOE2_Golden_DE (DAT_AI_TREE)” and “AOE2_Golden_DE (Graphics_Text_UI_Movie)” and after downloading the mod “AOE2_Golden_DE (Graphics_Text_UI_Movie)” put it in highest priority and restart the game to activate this mod so you can see the new units/buildings/technologies and all their descriptions.
This mod was updated on 03/09/2023; UPDATE 87863, + custom changes and DLCs, but you need to purchase and install to unlock all new civilizations.

          • -INSTRUCTIONS
  • You can only have a maximum of 300 population in the countryside.

  • You start at the Bronze age and have 9999 wood and food, 999 gold and stone.

  • Every 10 minutes of play all players receive 10000 wood and food.

  • When starting the game all players start with:
    8 fortress,
    7 docks,
    7 villagers,
    the market,
    to Town Center,
    30 population houses.

Objective:

  • Protect at least one of your fortresses/castles. If you don’t have any Fortress/Castle built, you lose the game.
  • Destroy all your enemies fortresses/castles or accumulate 5000 kills for your team to win the game.

Optional objectives:

  • Destroy enemies Town Center to stop them from advancing Age or creating villagers.

In each AI it is explained in text exactly how much and when cheats will occur if you move the mouse over the rectangle (the rectangle where an AI is chosen). It is also explained in text whenever you start a match and are playing with an AI from my mod.

  • From now on the barracks, archery range, stable, dock/harbor, siege worshop and monastery provide 1 population each.

  • From now on the palace and pyramid provides 6 population each.

  • From now on as wonders provides 10 population each and garrison villagers and monks.

  • From now on cathedrals provides 50 population each.

  • From now on the colosseums provides 75 population each.

  • The “Infinit Population” update has been removed, but the “Extra Population” update can be repeated up to 30 times and each time it is repeated gives +30 population limit. The upgrade now only costs 3900 gold, but the cost increases by 900 gold each time you repeat it.
    The population limit increase is indicated in the building names whenever you complete the “Extra Population” update, so all players know that the initial maximum population limit has been changed for a player.

The mod is not activated automatically, you need to choose the “dat” mod. See the image.

The UI is bugged and i cant play when activate the data… Maybe it needs update…

BIG UPDATE:

  • Added DLC: Mountain Royals (UPDATE 95810).

  • Fire Tower now belongs to the Watch Tower line, being the final update.

  • New architectures were added for some civilizations.

  • Now advancing to the Imperial Age requires University and Castle/Krepost.

  • Bridges were removed (except on the editor map, as it only worked if a recorded scenario was continued).

  • A new boat (class building) has been added that appears in the list of buildings when you build the dock and reach the Feudal Age; This boat is used to create some units to facilitate the conquest of maps that contain islands/continents.

    Boat Description:
    This boat is used to obtain units of some classes at the enemy’s base more quickly, which makes conquest easier. This boat cannot move when creating units. To move the boat, complete the upgrade that is on this boat, and to create units, complete the upgrade that is on this boat.
    This boat can create all units from Barracks (except condottieros, huskarls and ninjas), of the Archery Range (except genitours), of the Stable (except tarkans), rams, petards, chariots or crusaders or Iroquois warriors or elite swordsmans or cannon elephants if the civilization allows it.

Recommended to use “Water Builder” (which is created in the dock) to build the Naval Academy.

My answer:
Thank you for your comment and for reporting a bug in the “Dark Age” technology. I had to see why you can’t research this technology after canceling it and discovered that the game no longer returns certain resources after canceling a technology or a building being destroyed during technology research. That’s why I had to give up the idea of requiring you to have 15 units on the field as one of the costs to advance to Dark Age. So I replaced “Total Units Owned” with “Food Storage”.
Now to advance to the Dark Age costs 400 wood, 400 food and requires three Stone Age buildings. I also had to change the Bronze Age cost. Now to advance to the Bronze Age costs 600 wood, 600 food and requires two Dark Age buildings.

As for your problem with new graphics not appearing in units or buildings, I didn’t see any problem, it seems to me that they are all working correctly in the right mode.
If you have already subscribed to the mod “AOE2_Golden_DE (Graphics_Text_UI_Movie)” and restarted the game to activate the mod but it does not work correctly, go to the Game Options, click on “Graphics” and turn off the “Anti-Alias UI” button and the “Enhanced Graphics UHD” button " because the mod is not compatible with displaying icons/units/buildings in 4K (see image).
