My future DLC roadmap (long post)

With the release of the Mountain Royals, it seems like our beloved game isn’t going away any time soon! So I thought I would post a roadmap full of my ideas for future DLCs. I won’t get bogged down writing about the technical aspects of each civ (bonuses, techs, etc). Just their architecture, unique techs and units, plus campaigns for each DLC. Nicely done.

1. RETURN TO AFRICA

A request as common as Armenians and Georgians among the playerbase has been a second African DLC. Well here it is, my first DLC idea. I thought I’d go with three new civs rather than the usual two because there is a lot of ground to cover in Africa, especially compared to Europe and Asia. However, despite the amount of names suggested, I thought I would go with the three that have the most recorded history and have interacted with other civs, the Kanembu, Somalis and Songhai.

Kanembu

Architecture - African
UT 1 - Lifdi - All light cavalary unit have reduced anti-cavalary damage.
UT 2 - Zaghawa Trade Route - Trade carts have more hp and now carry more gold
UU - Hausa Rider - Light cavalry that gain bonus damage when trade cart is near

Somalis

Architecture - African
UT 1 - Horn of Africa - Dock LOS increased and if any ship is detected by dock the location of the ship is always visible.
UT 2 - Ottoman Support - All gunpowder units get faster reload
UU 1 - Adali Cannoneer - Somali hand cannoneers that are faster and cheaper but weaker than hand cannoneer
UU 2 - Markab - Cannon galleon that is slower

Songhai

Architecture - African
UT 1 - Salt Trade - Teamwide Stone Trickle
UT 2 - Tuareg - Camels units take -8 damage from anti-camel attacks
UU - Gao Lancer - Camel lancer

Campaigns

Kanembu - Idris Alooma - Extended the Kanem-Bornu empire to its greatest height
Somalis - Imam Ahmad - Led the Adal Sultanate in a war against Ethiopia
Songhai - Sunni Ali - Invaded and conquered Mali
Turks - Suleiman - Extended the Ottoman Empire to its greatest height, including annexing parts of East Africa

2. MONARCHS OF THE ORIENT

Another popular idea is a Chinese semi-split, and as someone who wants a Chinese campaign, this I can get behind. Added are the Jurchens and, yes, the Tibetans too. Hey, if EU4 added them with no issues from the CCP, I don’t see why FE wouldn’t. Not including them would be ignoring a huge part of Asian history, and leaving a great big chunk out of the AoE2 world map.

Jurchens

Architecture - East Asian
UT 1 - Tungusic System - Farm yields 50 more foods
UT 2 - Guazi Ma - Camels and Steppe lancers do blast damage
UU - Tiefutu - Fast cavalry lancer with better pierce armour

Tibetans

UT 1 - Bon Temple - Monks are created faster
UT 2 - Navigating Himalaya - Villagers move faster on elevation
UU - Khampa - Infantry that can also heal and convert like monks

Campaigns

Chinese - Taizong - Tang Emperor who led China to arguably the greatest era in its entire history
Jurchens - Wanyan Aguda - Founder of the Jin dynasty
Tibetans - The Dharma Kings - The story of Songtsen Gampo, Trisen Detsong and Ralpacan, three emperors of the Tibetan Empire who oversaw its rise and fall

3. CHIEFTAINS OF THE NEW WORLD

And yet another popular one is more American civs. Like Africa, I thought I’d throw three in as there is so much to cover from what spans three current continents, but also like Africa it’s quite a tricky one choosing civs because there’s so little recorded history about a lot of the American tribes at the time. I thought a good bet would be to include the Tarascans, but then to make things a little diverse and not just consign this DLC to Central American civs, I thought I’d pick the Mississippians from North America, and the Musicas from South America.

Mississippians

Architecture - American
UT 1 - Earthworks - Can create villagers from castles and fortresses
UT 2 - War Plains - Cavalry units get +5 armour
UU - Plain Rider - Light cavalry, similar to the Hussar (yes, an American civ with cavalry!)

Muiscas

Architecture - American
UT 1 - Tejo - Ballistics for skirmisher
UT 2 - Muiscan Resolve - Guecha now has bonus damage against skirmisher
UU - Guecha - Anti-archer archer

Tarascans

UT 1 - Chimali Shield - Cuitzeo’s Chosen and Eagle Warrior have more pierce armor
UT 2 - Cuitzeo’s Spirit - If a unit is being converted by enemy monks it will get speed and damage boost
UU: Cuitzeo’s Chosen - Faster, cheaper but weaker version of skirmisher

Campaigns

Mayans - Hunac Ceel - General who conquered Chichen Itza and founded the Cocom Dynasty
Mississippians - Tuskaloosa - Paramount chief who defended what is now Alabama from a Spanish invasion
Muiscas - El Dorado - Remake of the old Forgotten campaign
Tarascans - Tzitzipandaquare - Emperor of the Purepecha Empire at its peak, waging war against the Aztecs

4. DEFENDERS OF THE PACIFIC

Well we’re long overdue the addition of a Thai civ (and it amazed me that they weren’t included in Rajas given so much of the architectural style was modeled on them). So we have a couple of new South East Asian civs in the Siamese, and the Tagalog who represent the people of what is now the Phillippines. Also this DLC is an excuse to throw in a Japanese campaign, so I thought I’d give it a vague “Pacific” theme!"

Siamese

Architecture - South East Asian
UT 1 - Naresuans Elephant - Elephants get bonus damage against elephant and move faster.
UT 2 - Kapampangan Mercenaries - Spearman line costs no food
UU: Ayutthyan Guard - Champion unit, being garrisoned in a castle or defensive building makes it strong giving it increased damage and building armour

Tagalog

Architecture - South East Asian
UT 1 - Mga Kawal - Militia and Maharlika lines take 25% less damage
UT 2 - Hukbong Dagat - Warships gain +5 damage
UU - Maharlika - A powerful Skirmisher-type unit

Campaigns

Japanese - Hojo Clan - Major players in the Genpei War (which Kurikara takes place during) who went on to successfully defend ####n from Mongol invasions
Siamese - Maha Chakkrapahat - King of Ayutthya, who fought against Bayinnaung’s sieges
Tagalog - Lapulapu - Pirate turned defender of Cebu from Spanish invaders

5. THE SLAVIC NOBLES

A final Slavs split. Got to be done. At this point they’re known as “the Russian civ”, so they are to be renamed Ruthenians. Added are Serbs and Croats, who are two of the only civs left that the Slavs still represent. And then there are the Vlachs, who can be given the Dracula campaign.

Croats

Architecture - Mediterranean

UT 1 - Bans - Castles fire twice as many arrows (garrisons included)
UT 2 - Shrewd Recruits - Knight-line gold cost reduced from 75 to 50, Zupan reduced from 35 to 20.
UU 1 - Zupan - Cavalry unit with bonus damage against the Spearman-line.
UU 2 - Kondura - Naval trash unit with bonus damage against the Fire Ship-line.

Serbs

Architecture - Mediterranean
UT 1 - Saxon Miners - Gold miners work 20% faster
UT 2 - Arming Doublet - Guszar +2 armor
UU - Guszar - Light cavalry, similar to, you guessed it, the Hussar

Vlachs

Architecture - Eastern European
UT 1 - Impalers - Calarasi damage boost now stacks up to 5 enemy killed
UT 2 - Warrior Peasants - Villagers armour and attack increased
UU - Calarasi - Light cavalry that gets damage boost for every enemy killed (stack up to 4)

Campaigns

Croats - Petar Snacic - Led the downfall of the Kingdom of Croatia and its eventual subjugation by Hungary
Serbs - Stefan Dusan - Founder of the Serbian Empire
Ruthenians - Vladimir Sviatoslavich - Prince of both Novgorod and Kiev who introduced Orthodox Christianity to the region

6. THE IMPERIAL EAST

This one has a broader focus than the other DLCs, which is simply for more Asian civs to be added with no region of Asia specified. Plenty of options in that regard, but two good choices, I felt, are the Afghans who serve as a sort of Hindustani split, and the Sinhalese who represent the peoples of what is now Sri Lanka.

Afghans

Architecture - Central Asian
UT 1 - Zamindars - Gain 50 gold for every house built
UT 2 - Bactrian camel - Camel speed increased
UU - Murattabas - Low cost self regenerating heavy cavalry

Sinhalese

Architecture - South Asian
UT 1 - Elephant husbandry - Elephants can regenerate
UT 2 - Chanaya - Prabhus generate gold over time
UU 1 - Kotte Footman - Very fast and weak light infantry who gains damage when near to Prabhu
UU 2 - Prabhu - Slow and strong heavy infantry who get bonus speed when near to Kotte Footman. Only 5 can be present in the army

Campaigns

Afghans - Mahmud Ghaznavi - Ghazanavid sultan who extended his empire to great heights, stretching from Central Asia to Punjab
Koreans - Choe Yeong - General who quelled rebellions in Korea and assisted the Ming dynasty in the Red Turban Rebellion against the Mongol Yuan dynasty
Sinhalese - Parakramabahu - King of Sinhala who extended his kingdom and led military campaigns in South India and Burma

7. VISIONARIES OF EUROPE

Get ready to sigh and roll your eyes, it’s another European DLC! In all honesty, I only thought this one up as an excuse to deliver a Vikings campaign, that’s its honest and literal purpose. But if you pointed a gun at my head and asked me to name just two more European civs to be added to AoE 2, it would be the Dutch and the Swiss, the latter being a popular choice anyway. So consider this one a sort of slight Teutons split.

Dutch

Architecture - Central European
UT 1 - Tulip Mania - For a certain amount of time all units and techs will cost no gold but the gold cost will be double after the time ends
UT 2 - Fluyt - War galleons gain more damage
UU - Ruiter - Fast attacking heavy cavalry

Swiss

Architecture - Central European
UT 1 - Vatican Guards - Monks can garrison building and units garrisoned in same building with monks gets healed faster
UT 2 - Swiss Mercenaries - Every time an ally pays 250 gold tribute to the player, the ally will get a Swiss Pikeman free in castle
UU - Swiss Pikeman - Unique Pikeman with great damage and range, doesnt have bonus against cavalary

Campaigns

Dutch - William of Orange - Leader of the Dutch revolt against the Spanish Habsburgs that led to the Eighty Years War
Swiss - Bern - A Bari style campaign where the protagonist is a city, which explores its influence and legacy in the region and period, including conflicts with Habsburgs, Burgundians and other Swiss settlements
Vikings - Harald Hadrada - Legendary conqueror and king of the Vikings, who also had dealings with the Kievan Rus and Byzantines

8. ALLIES AND ENEMIES OF BYZANTIUM

Okay, now we’re getting a little bit vague and barrell-scrapy here but it’s cool. Basically the DLC focuses on civs that haver had dealings with the Byzantines before (who hasn’t in this game?). The two new civs are the Khazars and the Vandals.

Khazars

Architecture - Central Asian
UT 1 - Jewish Nomads - Monks gain increased movement speed
UT 2 - Composite Bow - Cavalry Archers get +4 attack
UU - Arsiyah - Strong cav archer that has all the advantages of parthian tactics and more

Vandals

Architecture - Central European
UT 1 - German Levy - Suebi Warriors are created much faster
UT 2 - Plunder - Infantry units gains attack bonus against buildings and generate gold while attacking building
UU - Suebi Warrior - Cheaper version of Gothic Huskarls with more bonus damage against archers and less pierce armor

Campaigns

Khazars - Barjik - Prince who fought and died in the Arab-Khazar wars
Magyars - Stephen I - Founder of Kingdom of Hungary
Vandals - Gelimer and Tzazo - Brothers who were both kings of the Vandal Kingdom, defending Carthage against the Byzantines

Anyway, that’s my roadmap done. Now, there could be room for more civs in Africa, Asia and America, so there could potentially be a part 2!

Check how popular is each of your suggestions.

This is like Enemies of Rome campaign

Hausa Rider and Lifidi aren’t from Kanem-Bornu so they don’t fit as Unique Units and Technologies. I suggest the name “Malassay” for Somalis. They were the elite forces of Adal.

Also Louis of Hungary is a much better choice for Magyars.

You’re not justifying enough all those European civs and you don’t sound threatened enough while doing it /s

Thats not a good attitude unless you want to escalate things

It was a joke, but unnecessary. You can think that there’s too much pushback against European civ proposals in general, but I think being the first one in a new thread to turn the conversation in that direction, even sarcastically, just feeds that same fire.

Anyway, I know these are just rough sketches of civs, but some of them are…extremely rough. Just looking at some of the American civ proposals here:

This seems okay but situational as a civ bonus, but not worth paying for the ability to make villagers from a far more expensive building than a TC that you’ll want for UUs/trebs anyway.

Name doesn’t make sense at all and is a major geographic, historical, and chronological mismatch. Mississippians lived far from the plains and didn’t use cavalry. Would be like proposing a Sogdians civ and giving them the Turtle Ship as a UU.

I’m wondering where you got this name. You’re using it like you intend to refer to Curicaueri, the principal god of the Purépechas. Cuitzeo is just a random town.

Surely the tech can do more than just be a redundant and far more limited version of ballistics.

Thanks for the feedback. Just two points I’d like to focus on though.

  • The Mississippian people inhabited a good portion of the eastern half of what is now the United States. Even in the state of Mississippi itself there are plains. There is also evidence that tribes in the region rode on horseback. Admittedly there isn’t a great deal of recorded history so I’ve pieced together a few things. It’d be good to see an American civ that has access to cavalry and a North American civ would be one’s best bet.

  • Cuitzeo was the Purepecha god of war.

I agree that an American civ with cavalry would be cool, but I think the Mapuches or even the Tlaxcalans would be more justified in terms of historical use within the time period. And I understand the desire to combine civ attributes for the sake of coolness, but there’s a big difference between the iconic and widespread use of horses by Great Plains natives and the eventual but more limited accessibility of horses everywhere in North America, such as the Mississippian region. Great Plains tribes would be much more fitting for such a design, but have their own problems in terms of timeline and other aspects.

Do you have some resource that confirms this? Not only is no such thing mentioned under the Wikipedia entry for Cuitzeo, but it is also not listed as anything but a minor town in the online text of the Chronicles of Michoacan (which has an index sorting locations and gods):
http://etzakutarakua.colmich.edu.mx/proyectos/relaciondemichoacan/indices/indiceDioses.asp

Edit:
Apparently there is a Wikipedia stub of Purépecha deities that lists “Cuitzeo: war god,” but no other information is provided, and I can’t find any primary sources, or any independent sources that don’t appear to be copy-pastes or paraphrases of the unsubstantiated Wikipedia stub. And as previously mentioned, the absence from the Chronicles of Michoacan is conspicuous given that it otherwise appears to have a definitive and exhaustive list. Kind of getting Thirisidai vibes from this thing, but I’ll stand corrected if it can be traced to a primary source.

Regardless, I think Curicaueri is the definitive choice as the primary god and the one who features prominently in the formative legends of the Purépecha state.

Any Purepecha campaign worth its salt (and bronze) should incorporate the tale of Erendira, mainly for the final missions where she can lead the resistance effort against the Spanish. It’d be rather fictionalized of course, but too compelling to ignore.

We do have recent evidence, oral and empirical, of some horses inhabiting North America prior to first contact, but not enough to justify the Mississippi polities actively riding horseback. At most, they got the same treatment as other revered animals, just without the same economic niche as bison. It took European colonization to force many cultures into riding for migration, raiding, etc. IIRC multiple Mapuche groups began using cavalry in the late 16th century using stolen Spanish steeds; they’re the most suitable American cav civ option.

WRT campaign choices, most of these work. I’d swap Sunni Ali for Askia the Great, as the latter led many of Ali’s troops before leading the Songhai himself–thus increasing the story’s scope and giving us a more charismatic (or just less atrocious) protagonist. It really feels like people keep suggesting the Muisca just to bring back the El Dorado campaign, which centered on the conquistadors and minimized all whom they oppressed in search of gold and buggy RPG missions…not a fan of this idea. Petar Snačić getting picked over Tomislav (who already has an excellent mod campaign worth adapting) befuddles me. And the Dutch Revolt definitely won’t fit into the AoE 2 timeline without cutting out too many later battles/highlights. (Frisians are right there in the corner with enough historic info to justify a 14th-/15th-century story set around the Tom Brok clan and successors.) Gaiseric is the more obvious choice for Vandals, at least compared to the ill-fated last Vandal kings who you’d stomp in a Justinian/Belisarius campaign.

Among other things (i.e. their mostly peaceful reception of the Spanish and a brief period of dual rulership of the empire between the Spanish and the Cazonci) this is why I initially had my civ design for Purépechas include cavalry access via an Imperial Age UT. However, as appealing as the legend of Erendira is, I don’t think it’s well-attested enough to be a core part of the civ design, or even that the tale itself has enough material to be more than a standalone scenario. (Although such a standalone scenario for her with cav access would be awesome!) I also think a cavalry oriented design would be more appropriate for other civs - Mapuches as you mentioned, or even Tlaxcalans, as they were afforded special privileges, such as tax exemption and use of horses and firearms due to their alliance with the Spanish.

Purépechas also have more than enough material for their design already, as an archer-monk and/or armored eagle civ with bonuses reflecting their fishing and metalworking. Giving them cav is more justifiable than Mississippians, but still a bit of a reach when there are better candidates. That’s my two cents anyway.

Although I like Tibetans, but it’s interesting that people always pick them for one of the only 2 slot in a DLC blueprint, even thouth we know that Tibetans are easily getting banned.

When the another civ is Jurchens, Khitans would be decent. They had heavly interacted with both Jurchens and Chinese, and they would not get banned.

This is why it’s hard for me to wholeheartedly support groups like the Mississippians, the medieval Filipinos, or the Benin as civilizations. The lack of historical records means that their compaigns can only be in the 16th century and against Spanish or Portuguese. I know that the latest AoE2 allows is about 150 years after the fall of Byzantium, but I still hope that new civs do not be so late. At least, the Muisca, Chimu, and Tarascans had records of fighting other natives as early as the 15th century or even earlier.

Benin has a decently recorded history upto the 14th century I believe

I sure that Benin had records in the 15th century, but their competitors are not Native Americans.
If the civilization is not just Benin but larger Yoruba to cover more, it is indeed more justified, but they also had interact less with existing civs compared to other potential civs in the West Africa. There are other choices that have better records than them and interacted with existing civs. I believe Soninke, Kanuri and Songhai can already decently make a very representative West African DLC.

Medieval Filipinos and Mississippians would have a similar problem. When we ask for a new Southeast Asian DLC or a new American DLC, there are peoples clearly having better records than them in the regions.

For East and SEA I would propose the following DLC

Lords of the Eastern Steppe

Jurchens

Architecture - East Asian

UU - Thunderclap Grenadier - a siege infantry that throws grenades, with bonus damage against siege units and standard buildings

Khitans

Architecture - North Asian Nomadic

UU - Pishi Guard - heavy infantry with special stronghold mode when in such a mode they cannot move but receives -20% damage from all attacks

Tanguts

Architecture - North Asian Nomadic

UU - Camel Slinger - a slinger mounted on a camel with bonus damage against enemy infantry

Chinese or Japanese campaigns could be introduced with this DLC, I don’t think Japanese campaigns should be introduced in a DLC about Indochina or insular SEA cause medieval Japan had no connection to those regions

Jewels of the Mekong

Dians (Nanzhao / Nuosu / Baipu / Bo)

Architecture - East Asian

UU1 - Luojuzi - fast skirmisher with bonus attack against cavalry and elephant units

UU2 - Raeuz Tribesmen - infantry that can double as gatherers

Siamese (Tais)

Architecture - Southeast Asian

UU - Elephant Gunner - a small cannon mounted on the back of a war elephant, with bonus damage against castles, walls & gates, and standard buildings

Mons

Architecture - Southeast Asian

UU1 - Elephant Skirmisher - no need explanation the name is quite self-explanatory

UU2 - Elephant Priest - a warrior monk mounted on an elephant can fight and heal but cannot convert or pick up relics, slightly faster than generic Battle Elephants though with lower HP, and enemy monks need Atonement to convert it

Chinese campaigns could be introduced with this DLC as well

Glory of the Spice Kingdoms

Chams

Architecture - Southeast Asian

UU - Mangpung / Vijaya Raider - an amphibious raiding infantry

Javanese

Architecture - Southeast Asian

UU1 - Cetbang Cannon - an anti-infantry cannon with the shell splintering into multiple small ones when hitting the target, allowing it to attack a group of tightly packed infantry

UU2 - Djong - a slow and bulky warship that can shoots out a volley of bullets at the enemy but can also transport up to 10 units

Visayans

Architecture - Pacific Islander

UU - Bagakay Warrior - a fast infantry that can throw 3 darts consecutively at the enemy, with the first one dealing full damage (6 melee) and having an accuracy of 90%, whereas the 2nd and 3rd ones dealing half damage (3 melee) and with an accuracy of only 50%, though having additional poison effect

A reach, maybe, but she could make sense at least as the campaign narrator. If Jean Poton de Xaintrailles (aka Guy Josselene) can get a leading role in Joan of Arc, then it’s not too hard to imagine Erendira’s escape and guerilla efforts concluding the Purepecha story in a DLC (which would otherwise finish too grim or be too constrained to pre-contact warfare/matchups).

It’s hardly as if a Tuscaloosa or Dekanawida/Hiawatha campaign would completely focus on Spanish, Portuguese, or French explorers though. The Mississippi chronicle can easily start with the rise and fall of Cahokia, then transitioning to the eastern towns encountering De Soto. Likewise, a good mission or two can cover the Haudenosaunee founding myths and then move to the Cherokee dealing with De Soto’s raids, followed by missions involving Cartier and Champlain. Meanwhile, the Muisca really only get to shine in those two pre-contact skirmishes and helping the Spanish at Tocarema, which yields maybe two missions at best and the rest highlighting how swiftly and decisively they were conquered. Even the Kotyan Khan campaign, with all its retreats and upsets, leaves players feeling like they’ve accomplished something through surviving–I don’t see anything similar enough for the Muisca without stretching harder than AoC’s Montezuma.

Agreed on the Filipinos/Visayans having too little to work with (vs. a neighbor like the Brunei Sultanate), but the Yoruban states are doable, particularly the Oyo Kingdom. Having any viable cavalry in the tsetse belt before modern medicine was an achievement, let alone the military successes of leaders like Orompoto.

I beg to differ. I think it’s possible to get a five-mission Lapulapu campaign if you include a little bit of the background leading up to his rise to prominence:

  • Mission 1: Rise of Humabon, and modern-day Cebu is turned into a trade center

  • Mission 2: Lapulapu arrives in the Philippines, and settles in Mandawili with Humabon’s permission

  • Mission 3: Lapulapu engages in piracy against Humabon

  • Mission 4: Intercept the son of Zula and prevent him from reaching Magellan

  • Mission 5: The Battle of Mactan

Some of these might require some creativity to stretch out into a whole scenario, but the basic gist of the missions is here.

I joked about too much European civs too (the meme with the guy trying not to fart) but there I took 5 likes so I may have said something accidentally true here.
I’d just like a less tense vibe too anyway, that’s why I’m pointing out when it doesn’t feel like this (op post which feels extremely “afraid” of simply proposing an Euro dlc).

Agree, Dutch would make sense if you extend the timeframe to 1650 otherwise it’s just too little too late, also cause I think the timeframe end in Europe is earlier than other continents (1550 kinda which you could only extend for some scattered battles like Lepanto unless they add new gunpowder units in imp to represent the later 16th century

Indeed Gaiseric seems to me as the only possible choice for vandals to me, even more than Attila for the Huns.

The joke falls flat here because OP did what lots of people have expressed a preference for - visiting several other continents before returning to Europe. The meme worked somewhat in the other thread in capturing the (apparent) difficulty of going a single year without another European DLC.

I think nobody here has a problem with a couple Euro DLCs out of 7. Your joke would have worked a lot better here if the first three (or especially the only three) DLCs on the list were all European. Which people are free to advocate for of course, but if so I think they should at least be able to take a Barbarossa joke.

The Mississippians and the Purépecha (Tarascans), two civ close to my heart.

About the Mississippians I already have made my own civ design and research.

In my design are no horses because horses were extinct in the Americas for 10,000 years ago before reintroduced by Europeans. However I would not mind if they would be able to convert a stable that they have an unique light cavalry. Like the Aztec got the Xolotl Warrior.
I have two campaigns with the Mississippians. One about the rise and fall of Cahokia based on archaeology evidence. The other about De Soto from the Spanish perspective.

About the Purépecha, if you want to learn more I recommend this two episode from the AskHistorians Podcast and here part two.

So far I know is that the best free online source about the Purépecha.

I can see three possible campaigns for the Purépecha.

  • The first is about the founder of the empire Tariácuri, listen to the podcast, it is wild!
  • The other obvious one is about the wars with the Aztecs. If people know about the Tarascans it is probably because of this.
  • The last one is a hybrid of the two, the narrator of the campaign is a Tarascans noble who is being interviewed by a Spanish Franciscan friar who is writing La Relación de Michoacán manuscript.
The first two scenarios are about Tariácuri, the next two are about the wars with the Aztecs and the last one he is lamenting about the burning of his last emperor Tangaxuan II and the pillaging of Nuño de Guzmán.

If you want to learn more about La Relación de Michoacán, get a copy of this book written by Angelica Jimena Afanador-Pujol, it is really good!

Finally the Purépecha (Tarascans) should be an archer civilization, one of the reasons that they could win against the Aztecs was because their bows out range the Aztecs atlatl.
I was thinking of an unique archer unit, slightly worsted than a Plumed Archer but with a charged attack that shoots a volley of three arrows with a larger range than their base range. Their normal attack shoot straight like the Composed Bowman arrows. (unique Archer units are hard to come up with while keeping room for Nubia.)
