New Civ Icon Idea

That’s right, the Nubian ones are these last two. Thanks again, it was really good.

@Seicing Sorry if it’s bothering you but can you please make a few more like:

The first icon will cause some controversy
So I wouldn’t put it in the list…

It wont, I havent seen any Chinese say anything bad about Tibet. The problem is that the civ will just never be added

The romanian one isnt in the time period. We will need to select one of the ones from here I think:

Great work, love it!

As an artist, that doesn’t look so hard to draw?

Though I wouldn’t be able to make all these metallic-y effects the official civ icons have.

Eh, my abilities to draw arent great but maybe its not that big of a deal for people that actually know how to draw

Good job, nicely done. Would love to see the civ icons for Chams, Dians, Moluccans, Siamese, Tanguts, and Visayans. East and SE Asian civs need some representation too.

I wonder if you have something similar for possible American civis, it doesn’t have to be a shield
Nice work BTW

I imagine the Chimú shield similar to this:

Ironically, there is currently more Moche iconography than Chimú (because Moche relics have been preserved in hidden tombs until today).

Thanks to archaeology, there are even shields with symbols of ancient American empires such as the Wari.

Best thing possible for civs like that is a stretched leather or fabric texture I imagine

Although a lot of civs could have a ceramic plate or a mask as a symbol.

Also I love the shields Josh shared, they are really nice

I would like to know the inspiration for the Khitan icon since I don’t get it.

On the other hand, I google “Khitan icon” and there is it.

This cycle has religious implications, very similar to your Tibetan design and seems to be a modern creation.

For more historical, I think the Khitan scripts may be good sources.

A bronze mirror with inscriptions (壽長福德, “Longevity and Merit”) written in Khitan small script.

Another bronze mirror with a poetic inscription written in Khitan small script.

“Khita-i Guk (Khitan state/country)” in Khitan large script characters.
The front 2 characters mean “Khitan”.

Written in Khitan large script characters, spelled ei.ra.ú.ud, pronounced Yarüd, means the Yelü clan, the leadership of Khitans.

Also, I googled “Liao Dynasty porcelain plate”. They are very pretty, but I’m not sure if they are suitable as icons.

7th century snow lion standard of the Tibetan Emperor, Songtsen Gampo.
Could this be a more suitable source? I know the more modern snow lion flag is banned for political reasons, but would the more medieval version still be acceptable?

Such a simple and beautiful tricolored taegeuk. Since Goguryeo is a part of the Korean civ, I think it is quite suitable as the new icon of Koreans.

Pretty good Jurchen script adaptation.

The patterns of the Eight Banners are also good materials, but unfortunately they are relatively late.

Btw, Could you please you make a Sogdian icon too?
The Sogdians will represent the East Iranic peoples, and like the Gokturks, they are a potential addition to the Central Asian civ.

Btw, what do you think about using some of these symbols for native american peoples?

At the risk of being wrong, the Mapuche flag was created in 1992 and the Iroquois flag in 1722.

It seems to me that the native flags of North American peoples were created in the colonial period, while in South America they were created only a few decades ago.
