New civ is coming

Not me certainly, I took me a lot of years to decide and play it… IMO classical and medieval are the most interesting periods for a age game, age lll is s great game but the time period is not so great, imagine if AGE IV were in the same time period of age lll, it will have a lot less players.

The game was dropping players fast before price adjustments so it is expected to continue doing it since nothing has changed for the game, just a balance patch, the expansion pack will be the decisive factor to determine if game will succeed or fail.

Yes, AoE 3 failed as AoE but not as RTS…

Best RTS of the year, but it is not that it has any competition, because comparing it with WC3 Reforged would not be fair…

De hecho ese es el subtitulo de AoE 3:Age of Empires III:The Age of Discovery

better if you read my messages well

Actually acording to steam charts, the game was 5k-ish avg for the last 3 month, a little more a little less. It is not great numbers, but its far from “dropping players fast”.

But I do agree it will be expansions or dlc what makes this game succed or fail in the long run.

DLC did wonders for AOE2

If we even consider the idea that AOE4 is dying/failed then AOE3DE already failed as a game.

It’s currently got less active players than not just AOE4 but AOE2HD. And that’s despite having 2 DLCs back to back.

Funnily enough the AOE3 hardcores (for lack of a better term) then blame the initial hazardous launch for current situation. Yet 3DE numbers did rise with each DLC release which wouldn’t happen if everyone abandoned the game for bad launch. People repeatedly returned with DLC and later left the game as it latest happened in last 2 months.

On top of that the same hardcores also claimed the game is doing great with each DLC release which again would contradict their tendency to put all blame on bad release.

At the beginning of July, aoe3 was free for a limited time for three days. During that time, aoe3 barely surpassed the number of players of aoe4. After the free period ended, players run off again quickly. The free playing did not attract players to choose this game at all…
The permanent price reduction of aoe4 has greatly increased the number of players, and after several weeks, these new players are still active in the game, and there is no major decline.
This is based on the fact that aoe4 has no new content, and aoe3 has launched several DLCs in a row.
Players honest choices and steamdb data are ruthless facts, if aoe3 is really good enough, such results won’t happen, I agree with you bro

Yeah same with every other AoE game other than 2.

I think all the AoE games are pretty good, although the original is just completely superseded by 2.

“Player numbers do not….oh you are not comparing AOE4 to AOE2. Fine.”

The original comparison that spawned this tangent was someone raising AoE III as a success (of its time, back in 2005).

Of course there’s little comparison with AoE II, but then again IV gets a lot of criticism for sticking arguably too closely to II, so I don’t get the reference there. Do you want IV to become more like II or something?

Now how do you read from that one sentence whether I want II to be like IV or not? I don’t even mention anything like that.
The point is if someone compares the number of II and IV a lot of people including you will be enraged and write a million essays on why it is not a fair comparison.

I think he was just trying to understand the point of your comment.

Maybe not realizing or assuming it was just you popping in to make an irrelevant snide remark.

Its probably safe to say he was just trying to understand what you said.

If anything you are the one who for some reason read from his two sentences that “a lot of people including you will be enraged and write a million essays on why it is not a fair comparison”.

Anyways nonsense aside instead of talking about what you didn’t mean, why not you just tell us what you meant by “Player numbers do not….oh you are not comparing AOE4 to AOE2. Fine.”

Because to be absolutely honest, I got no idea what it means or even if it’s supposed to mean anything constructive in the first place.
