If we get new civs this year, I guess one of them will be Byzantines as they were left out last year when Malians and Ottomans came into the game.
I don’t see the logic here. What were they left out from?
Ottoman & Romans is a classic combo, but I don’t see how Romans fit into the Ottoman + Malian combo.
If anything, it suggests that they are doing unrelated civilizations. For example, Norse and Japanese.
Though, if they are only releasing two civilizations with the intention of selling them, they better include a different styled campaign to make it worth the purchase. I cringe at the thought of only buying civilizations in a series that has already established the baseline of civilization + campaign DLCs.
I mean in the sense of people expecting Ottomans and Byzantines to be bundled together.
It is because Ottomans and Malians are Muslims and they are African empires (the Ottomans occupied Algiers in 1516 and Egypt in 1517, besides supporting Morocco in the battle of the Three Kings in 1578)…all that seen in AoE 3…but it would have been nice if both civs brought campaigns and not just missions for the Art of War section…
Vikings and Greece/Italy
Most likely they are Danes and Byzantines, Cholas or Japanese…in a few weeks at Gamescom we will know…
Well seems aoe4 will not present this year: Xbox at gamescom 2023 - Xbox Wire
Also no metion of AOM RE either.
Last year the game was mentioned: Xbox at gamescom 2022 - Xbox Wire
It scares me…maybe they are saving it for X023 in October…
Probably you’re right even if it must be said that the event that exists now ends on August 21 one day before the Gamescom.
Probably they do not mention cause it could be a DLC and not an actual new game.
Sure, dlc for AoE 4 will be announced… AoM Retold is hard, but I would like to see it this year…
No Ottomans were present in that battle. Thats just historical revisionism.
Yes, I know… the Ottomans were not present in the battle, but they supported the Moroccans with gunpowder units… in AoE 3 it’s the Moroccan sultans and the Portuguese king fighting each other…
Please. Just some new civs at this point. Give us something to get excited about
No! We aren’t dropping the name “Byzantines”. Not especially in AoE4 because what shouldn’t be happening is confusion with the name “Holy Roman Empire”.
That “confusion” does not matter, history is what matters. It would be greatly ironic for germans to have the title of Romans before the actual Romans–actually, it’d just be wrong.
The problem here is that a lot of people have nolstalgic views of the word Byzantine. That word means nothing, and I am sorry to say that you really ought to catch up to history instead of clinging to nonsense.
It’s not nonsense to call it, Byzantines. The phrase “Roman Empire” already exists in a civ and we don’t need another civ to have that phrase or else things get confusing. Besides, it’s good to go with a more simplified name rather than a long time with more than one word in it for something like the Byzantines.
thanks for sharing, I had already ‘glimpsed the channel, but it had not crossed my mind to use the translated subtitles, given the lack of data on shared content, now that I’m watching the video, I’m fascinated by the quality’ of the channel, also trying to reproduce game traits, inspired by the proposed civilizations, I proceed immediately to subscribe to see new videos, I don’t think anything will be announced at Gamescom, but I’d be happy to be proven wrong!
SCOTLAND!!! … That is all.
