New DLC Inbound!

There’s another shot of it where you can see the helmet better. It’s much clearer that it’s an Iron Pagoda.

Hell, the model is even posed like the first image that pops up on google for them:

Where exactly is this announcement? Not on Instagram. Not on main website. Not on forum. Not in email to Insiders. I’m not going to fish around for the info like I’m trying to find which streaming service out of a dozen is playing a movie or show I want to watch

I’d like to view the screenshots from the source rather than your low resolution screenshot, to see if the resolution is any better. And putting the source of the info when posting news like that is helpful in future

I found larger versions of the pics. What was shared on the article was downsized to optimize loading but these are MUCH larger

^-- This!

That’s what I’m talking about! Nice work, Quasibrodo, thank you! Would still love to know the source, but that helps

But the camel catapults are also there, they are obviously the UU of Tanguts civ. It makes no sense Tanguts share Iron Pagoda with Jurchen.

Higher res versions, I think:

So what role would fill those Iron Pagodas?

  • Anti-Infantry Cavalry UU is the Cataphract
  • The Behemoth of AOE 2 is the War Elephant
  • Anti-Building Cavalry UU is the Tarkan
  • Well-Armored Cavalry UU is the Boyar
  • Trash Cavalry UU is the Magyar Huszar
  • Early to deploy being better vs anti-cavalry units Cavalry UU is the Konnik.
  • High attack armor ignoring Cavalry UU is the Leitis.
  • Gold efficent-generation Cavalry UU is the Keshik.
  • Charge attack Cavalry UU is the Coustilier.
  • Super fast arrow dodging Cavalry UU is the Shrivamsha Rider.
  • Heavy Cavalry UU that boosts other units is the Centurion.
  • Low HP but strong attack that gets higher with numbers Cavalry UU is the Monaspa.
  • Anti-Archer specialist Cavalry is the Savar.

We are getting very low on what niches are left for Cavalry UUs.

Thanks again

It was nowhere from the home page stories

Or some other places I checked

New trees wooo!

Steppe lancers are shown for one of the civs. I kind of hope they all get them, they look more appropriate for Asian civs than the cavaliers.

Looking closely, it’s more a gunpowder unit than a halb imo

Fire lancer confirmed, they are now infantry unit instead of cavalry in aoe4

I just hope its 3 or 4 civs, not 2.

Pls give us Jurchens, Tibetans, Tanguts and Khitans. Or 3 of them.

Who is this unit with a mace/rock? And what civ would he be from?

This is crazy. It’s grenadier type unit unique to Jurchen Jin dynasty. In order to resist the Mongol invasion in the north and the threat of the Song Dynasty in the south, Jin Dynasty pioneered the use of this early gunpowder bombs. It’s so damn cool.

So Jurchens and Tanguts probably.

Because for the promo pictures they shuffle units around.

You can see Chu-ko-nu with Siege Oanagers, next to a clearly not-Chinese castle.

They did this for Dynasties of India and Mountain Royals. Rule of cool overrides units being depicted with the correct civ.

Given a historical event where Iron Pagodas tore through some emplaced gunners, I would say mounted Condottieros for my guess.

What about pierce tanks?

But that role would be far too small in application, and we already got Magyar Huszar vs Bombard Cannons and Savar vs Hand Cannoneers, even Shrivamsha Riders do that job as well.

Bonus vs uus is still remaining.
