I mean I also dont like the US probably as much as you do, however I think its time to stop argueing about it and start talking more about African dlc as we cant change the fact the US is here.
I dont think the amount of likes is representative of the people, I think most people simply dont care and then looking at the people who care I think we are not the majority. Even with 23 likes on a post its not even 1 % of the community. Although I still believe we are allowed to express our opinion I think we did and now we might need to let it rest.

Of course it is. Reddit, steam comments, the followers of aussie_drongoās, and some other forum in Chinese or Japanese or Korean are also valid sub-populations.
But the degree of generalization you can do from that sub-population is questionable.
This is definitely not what you did in debates, is it?

Go ahead and prove me wrong, then.
I still think you will be unsuccessful at it.
Out of ~100 people who rated this dlc, 85% are positive. This is already a bigger population than people active on this forum, and you cannot generalize to that population already.
Also Iām not making a sharp counter argument to yours (āthe majority likes USā). Iām saying you cannot generalize to the bigger population from either this forum or steam because they have strict barriers. This is not even a random sampling of the population you look at.
Like I said, only a very small portion of players would look for the official website, then the official forum, then comment on it.
Likely, a very small portion of players who buy a product on steam would actually rate it, not to mention those who write long comments.
People who went out to do these already have strong opinions, positive or negative.
We are from those people with strong opinions and the motivations to talk about these on the forum. We may feel thatās natural and universal, but we have already passed several filters or barriers to make it to this place.
BTW Why am I proving this in the first place? Arenāt you the one who is making conclusion about the population?

This might shock you, but people who dislike something arenāt very likely to buy it.

And I never said that is a perfect slice of the playerbase.
Iām really tired of writing novels and someone picked on one minor point that I probably not even made then disappeared. Thatās definitely how people debate.

No, but itās heavily biased, as only people that bought the DLC can review it. According to this poll, around 49% of the people here donāt intend to buy the DLC.

People here.
āHereā is already a biased population as well. That is only 200 votes. Still a very small group.
Like I said, looking for the official website - looking for the forum - having motivation to comment on a topic are all big barriers. Polls are more accessible and people with mild opinions would participate, but thatās still only 200 people after all.
You should do the poll to random players online on steam or microsoft store to draw that conclusion. And even for that you need to be careful about the time zone.
And donāt forget the dlc can be obtained for free.

statistically 200 votes is significant enough.

Thereās no need to do any more polls, all you need to do is look at the overall player numbers on Steam. The gameās player population has essentially doubled with the USA release, and still remains so. Overall review score of the game also continues to rise more and more every single day. Itās clear as day to me that this DLC was a smashing success.

Arent they doing USA event to get it for free? I do it like thatā¦
In my opinion we need more numbers to judgeā¦

I doubt that people played the game due to a single - nation DLC.
7.5k people on April 13th, 9.2k after 18th and then instantly dropped. I think this is mostly checking out the challenge and the update.
Review score of main game or DLC?

You still cannot simply generalize that.
You donāt draw conclusion about the whole school with 5000 students by randomly picking and surveying 200 4th graders.

Thatās how polling works tho, you take a VERY small % of the total and estimates based on that.
Political polls for example takes 10k~ out of countries with hundreds of millions of people and they are almost always right.
That said, ofc those professional polls try to ādiversifyā the participants, which was not the case of this forum poll, which leads to a big bias on the data.
IMO, despite agreeing that USA is out of place(mainly due to the revolutions) the DLC was an undeniable success, the avg player-base rose 60% this month, itās impossible for me as an AOE3 fan to be upset with that.

The difference is, if you want to learn anything about the country, you randomly draw the ~10k people from all over the country. Not from one town or one state. People make all false or inaccurate conclusions by consulting a group they believe to be general enough.

A random sampling of 200 is fine, but this forum isnāt random, itās a self selected group. That means youāre only sampling a certain type of player, and it probably isnāt the casual player that makes up the bulk of the sales and player base.
Edit: I read through a bit more and weāre basically saying the same thing.

I read what you said again and realized we were pretty much agreeing, I really need to work on my reading comprehension.

that is exactly what you do tho.
that is a nice surprise but hard to tell if it is specifically from the US or just from content in general, never the less more players is a great news.

You know why this forum sucks? Because its an echo chamber of like 20 people all circle jerking that the USA was a bad addition to the game for total arbitrary reasons. You all spent the last 50 replies arguing about semantics lmao.
A lot of you complain about historical accuracy but when given any counter point that proves AoE 3 was never historically accurate in the first place you ignore it. Then you actually start talking about game play but you were already griping and moaning without having any data or any in game time, reeks of bias.
All you have to know about the US addition is the steam chart that shows there has been a significant increase in players (almost 60%). So I would say yes people are interested in the US addition and people are excited about it.
All these forums are an echo chamber, but hey at least you all can be miserable together while other players enjoy the game and the new content
