Porto info that we collected

Probably for historical accuracy… Pala empire never relied on cavalry and did not have dedicated cav corps… if they needed they would hire from rashtrakutas

But bengal sultanate had cavalry corps as they adopted strategy from delhi sultan

Yes that is one reason.
Clearly the Bengalis will focus more on the Pala Empire.

So they still can have the common stable units like light cavalry and cavalier, just don’t make they strong, such like no bloodline and plate armor.

It seems that they would have Battle Elephants at least, I assumed they would have the Elite upgrade
They even have some bonus related to the Elephants in general, could be BE and EA

I say this in the sense of the power, importance and wealth of delhi… it could also include the cholas, the palas, the viyanagra, etc etc etc…

Yeah, and I meant just like in AoE3 and AoM. Besides they already did that with trade carts; who asked (lol)

As for the skin pack I didn’t mean to raise a debate. It could give more historical vibe and go with optional paying.

Elephants are fine and should be emphasized by the Bengalis.
The environment in East India push them use elephants mainly and ignore horses.
Just don’t make horses or camels too important so no horse UU plz.

I heard that Bengalis used chariots in the Middle Ages.

Chariots were common in both bengal and south India but not for battle… they were used for cultural and traditional stuffs… like “rath jatra”

Well you know, many civs around the Old World had used chariots.
The Ratha could be a unit of the scenario editor, which means it still could be used in the campaign.

However being the UU means it may be used heavily like Korean War Wagon and Spanish Conquistador, you will see lots of horses but the Bengalis should not depend on horses.

Yes, at most it will be a strong unit against heavy infantry like the line of men-at-arms…

About the UU od the Bengalis, the Ratha, cavalry archer/cavalry:
The leak civilization description shows the following icon:
image
It is an archer in a chariot; so, a cavalry archer unit

The official screenshot shows a chariot on the middle of the image with a king on it:
image
You can see that the chariot and the rider are the same as the previous image but instead of being an archer now is using a shield as a melee combat

Now if you pay attention to the “official” leak of the chariot you can see the wheel (possibly from the Ratha unit) is the same as the previous chariot image:

With these -no official- hints I think that the new Ratha UU is the one in the screenshot and can switch between melee or range attack
What I do not understand is the king on the chariot

What do you think?

Wonderful analysis. I also tried to zoom into the chariot of Dravidians overview picture. Unfortunately I didn’t get so high resolution picture and thought the wheels are different.

Your analysis leads to this conclusion. @TungstenBoar also said something similar, a trebuchet like unit that can switch from one form to another.

  1. Maybe this one a hero unit? We have an EA hero with two riders on top of the Howdah while regular EA has only one rider.
  2. Maybe Ratha can garrison one foot unit and the unit is visible.

I think chariots can garrison infantry troops and switch different attack modes (range, melee or defense) according to the garrisoned units
In this screenshot, the king is garrisons in the chariot and the chariot switches to the defense mode of using the shield to protect the king
gurjaras herdable animals can be garrison in mills, Dravidian units can garrison in thirisadai ship for add extra arrows,I think the bengalis uu will have a same garrison ability
This is just my guess, this dlc will around the garrison ability

Tsar Konstantin and Dagnajan, which are hero units, have two riders. It is probably the same here.

Nice, Have you the same quality for the Dravidian one?

or, a much simpler solution, the chariot we have seen is the same as the DE pre-release images chariot (that was campaign only or editor only or whatever)

and the chariot we’ll get in-game, looks very similar but has an archer, will be a normal chariot that shoots like a normal cav archer, with some or other bonuses

i doubt we’ll get a unit that can move and shoot because it will be a nightmare to balance , but maybe we get one that can garrison units that shoot.

that armoured ele sure is a beauty! i say at least base 6PA

There was a similar concept (on early alpha version of the Age of Kings) for the Samurai if I remember correctly but it was scrapped for unknown reasons. It looks like they will implement this idea now to the Ratha UU.
