Agreed. People enable cheats – errr… mods – all the time for ranked, like small trees, idle villager icons, tower range indicators, auto scout, and a bunch of other stuff if they want. (Actually, the examples I gave started off as mods and now those cheats… err, QoL improvements, are in the base game, I know.) Even used in official tournaments. And yet nobody, not even SP skirmish or MP vs. AI (unranked game) players can zoom out more? Sad.
In ranked games, won’t a 4K 32" monitor player see more than a 15" 1280x720 player? Why can’t the latter player zoom out more, independent of their resolution? Similarly, why can’t 1080p and 1440p players? Yet another advantage for some players over others in ranked.
Mainly, though, I just think it would be nice to zoom out more in unranked games if I want to. Whether it is for macro strategizing, or because it’s near or at the end of the match and I want to take a few screenshots since CTRL+F12 still doesn’t let you take full map screenshots:
