Purely for fun speculation on future civ additions for AOE2 DE

No. Not what I’m aware of but some people have used the number 20000 in their examples on these forums here.

i don’t think that many civs actually existed, or maybe i thought you have some specific list with all the states from around the world from history. because 20000 is kind of specific number unlike 100, 1000 or 10000.

20000 states would have to include many small tribes and warbands.

The game also cares little for states, only cultural groups.

yeah for example mayans had many small cities independently ruling, but the game represents them as civilization Mayan named after the largest city state of Mayapan.
Mayans were not an empire but an important culture group.

They had small cities, but the actual culture was widespread, and the population numbers were vast.

They were a huge cultural group, and had great influence throughout Central and Southern America.

Then unless you can substantiate your point credibly, I suggest you refrain from making wild and illogical claims and assumptions. Thanks.

That’s not what I’m doing. Also, isn’t the number 20000 just an expression?

EUIV has almost 800 nations.

The game can have more civs yes.

Empires Omitted:

  • Tibetans,
  • Jurchen (Manchu),
  • Chola (Dravidians),
  • Kanem (Nubians) and
  • Ghurids/Ghaznavids (Afghans).
  • East Pala Empire (Bengals)

Major Kingdoms/Groupings of Nations:

  • Bantu (Hausa, Kongo, Swahili, Zimbabwe)
  • Ayutthaya (Thai),
  • Georgia
  • Armenia
  • Vlachs (Romanians)
  • Wends (Poles, Czechs)
  • Burgundians (Includes Dutch)

Some people also want:

  • Iroquois
  • Polynesians
  • Mississippians
  • Tubi
  • Carib
  • Mapuche
  • Muisca
  • Chimu

Maybe also Dutch? and new campaign with colonization of Caribs ?

Nations are different than Civilizations.
I honestly prefer the AoE approach, with cultural groups rather than political groups.

I do too. I’m just saying that there are games with much higher count.

And in the case of AOE2, any new civs need to bring something new to the table.

Which is why I have a more realistic 5 new civs, for which even I can make them bring something new to the game.

799 files in the countries folder of EU4. Each file defines a nations. It consists of formable and existing countries.

I would like to see these nations from EU4 in aoe2. they all are important regional powers in 1444 AD. in bracket are the civs on which the new civ can be built upon. I selected 4 civs for each architecture set in aoe2 so that there is a uniform distribution of power from accross the world.

Middle Eastern:
Mamluks (Saracens)
Persia (Persians)
Ottomans (Turks)
Morocco (Berber)

Africans:
Mali (Malians)
Ethiopia (Ethiopians)
Kongo (New)
Songhai (New)

Indians:
Delhi (Indians)
Mewar (New)
Vijayanagar (New)
Orissa (New)

South-East Asians:
Khmer (Khmer)
Ava (Burmese)
Majapahit (Malay)
Ayutthaya (New)

East Asians:
Ming (Chinese)
Tokugawa (Japanese)
Korea (Koreans)
Dai Viet (Vietnamese)

Central Asians:
Altan-Ord (Mongols)
Timurid (Tatars)
Uzbek (Cumans)
Oirat (Huns)

Mesoamericans:
Aztec (Aztec)
Inca (Inca)
Yucatan (Mayan)
Iroquois (New)

West European:
Scotland (Celts)
England (Britons)
France (Franks)
Burgundy (New)

Central European:
Bohemia (Goth)
Teutonic-Order (Teutons)
Sweden (Vikings)
Poland (Magyar)

Eastern European:
Muscovy (Slavs)
Lithuania (Lithuanian)
Serbia (Bulgarian)
Hungary (New)

Mediterranean:
Papal State (Italians)
Castile (Spanish)
Portugal (Portuguese)
Byzantium (Byzantine)

So there can be a total of 44 civs for AoE2 using this idea, all distributed uniformly around the world.

Kanem (Nubians)

Kanem and Nubia are quite separate. Different geographical locations, different religious backgrounds.

Iroquois

Mississippians seem like the better choice for a North American civ, since they existed earlier, had bigger cities, etc.

By the end of the 16th century almost all Nubians were Muslim.

Anyhow, both Kanem and Nubians are Nilo-Saharan people. My previous suggestion for a combined civ was called ‘Sahels’ as the Nilo-Saharan live in the Sahel region of Africa.

I think iroquois would be better, as they have more recorded History, and were more militarily active, from what we can tell.

Good idea, I like adding more African civs. Hopefully the devs check all the wonderful ideas here. More civs means more campaigns and more sales which in turn leads to continued support for the game!

Might be good to do the classic aoe thing and blend them both together lol
