My suggestion for this will be a barbarian invasion pack with adding Alans, Western Romans, Vandals, Avars(a different but similar civ, consider it as a Lithuanian case for Last Khans) and changing the Byzantine name into Eastern Romans. Legionary in barracks and Centurion in Castle would be unique units for Western Romans while balancing all the other and Western Romans should be a defensive civ as well. Varangian Guard could be a unique barracks units for Eastern Romans as well. A Geyseric campaign would be great as well. I really loved both Alaric and Attila the Hun campaigns.
Anohter suggestion might be a Caucasus civs with Armenians, Georgians and Circassians added, maybe Poles as well as a different civilization.
Another might be by eliminating the Italians civ, creating 5 new Italian city-states or region civs such as Venetians, Genoese, Milanese, Napoli and Florence. However, this might be so Italian-focused, just a fantasy letās say.
My final suggestion will be another Asian-based pack by adding Tibetans, Jurchen, Uyghur and a surprise civ as Iroquois.
I think we dont need more civs. Remembering all techs for all civs is already hard. We dont really need more civs. More civs isnt equal to a better game.
If they wanna expand the game, i will have some suggestions:
More scenarios
More unique architecture for each civ
Better AI (make it behave like Barbarian from Voobly)
Fantasy civ, this is a name the Norse gave what was probably either the Inuit, some Iroquois predecessors, or even a wide variety of tribes.
If you have Bantu, then why have Kongolese and Swahili, which are clearly Bantu groups?
Aside from Georgians, none of these are even missing from the game. Armenians are also an Antiquity civ, rather than a Middle Ages civ, and are alreday covered by the Byzantines. Poles are already the Slavs aswell.
Bengals were veruy much a minor civ for the time, and as far as I know, were subjects of other peoples. They and the Manchu (Jurchen would have been more appropiate and Medieval) grew to prominence much later, after the gameās timespan.
In-game, Slavic units speak Russian
Their Unique Tech: Orthodoxy: Orthodox found in East Slavic Kievan Rus
Druzhina: The Druzhina (Russian: Š“ŃŃŠ¶ŠøŠ½Š°, lit. āSquadā) was a group of men in early Rus who helped the prince administer his principality
Their Unique Unit: Boyar: East Slavic term meaning Noble/high ranked.
Poles are totally opposite to this, certainly not represented by in-game Slavs.
Yes you are right. Poles were Western Slavs, Magyar Winged Huszar (similar to Polish Winged Hussar) and Polish-Lithuanians Commonwealth. They were kind of the mix of all the three civilizations.
The most beneficial civilizations to add to the game by far are the Tamils and the Georgians. The Tamils makes sense because not only is it odd that thereās only one civilization that uses the South Asian set, but thereās still such a bitter backlash at how overly broad yet poorly representative the Indians civilization is. There have been constant requests for the Tamils for a long time, and I can certainly see why. They could even be retroactively integrated into the campaign mode by replacing the Indians for the Chola Empire in the Suryavarman campaign.
The Georgians, meanwhile, were a major world power highly relevant during the core of the Age of Empires II timeframe and are probably the biggest gap that cannot be adequately represented by another civilization (Tamils sort of have Indians, Tibetans sort of have Burmese, Poles and Bohemians sort of have Slavs). They could either get the Eastern European architecture or have a brand new set shared with the Byzantines and Bulgarians.
I still like the idea of a Croatian civilization because despite being Slavic, theyāre even less similar to the Russians than the Poles and Bohemians thanks to their heavily latinized architecture and culture; the Mediterranean set would be more appropriate for them than the Eastern European one. Their naval focus would also distinguish them from the Slavs, Bulgarians, and Magyars.
And the Tibetans and Swahili, since those would plug huge holes in the map.
Tibet was a major power for 200 years, which is longer than the Mongol Empire stayed united, and far longer than the time of relevancy of a lot of civs in the game.
Swahili would help a lot with covering African Bantu groups, and the lack of a lot of African civilizations in the game. It would also give us an African naval and trade civ.
The Tibetans would be great to add if only Xi Jinping didnāt stand in their way. A third non-Middle Eastern African civilization wouldnāt be a bad idea, especially if itās based on an empire closer towards central Africa, though I think either Kongo or Zimbabwe would be worth considering.
Heās the single most influential man to the entertainment industry because any product that fails to clear his censors will suffer a devastating loss of profit. Since Age of Empires II is such a hit in China, itās way more vulnerable to this risk than usual.
Maybe people should have the balls to stand up to him.
Everybody craps on Christianity these days, long after it had itās feet firmly planted in world power. They also mocked the Colonial Empires, the Romans, the Nazisā¦
This is cowardice. People mock extinct powers and demons because deep down they know they themselves would not have the courage to stand up to them, so they make up fake bravado, and ignore the lessons of History.
Bowing to another Iron Rod will not make it softer when it hits our backs. The time to stand up to it, is now, not after it falls into the inevitable, and another strapped jackboot takes its place.
Honestly AoE2 has enough civs. It doesnāt need anymore civs. If you want more civs into AoE2, make a mod that features custom civs. Now once I become good at modding for AoE which will take a long time, I could start helping out on a mod for AoE2 DE that adds more civs. Hereās some examples I thought of: Hebrews, Iroquois, Serbians, Georgians
